"The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" is a 1997 hit song recorded by American rapper Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott. It was written and composed by Don Bryant, Bernard "Bernie" Miller, Elliott, and producer Timbaland for her debut album Supa Dupa Fly (1997) and contains a sample of Ann Peebles' 1973 single "I Can't Stand the Rain", whose lyrics serve as the chorus.
The song was released to U.S. radio stations on May 20, 1997, and the Hype Williams-directed video was released to video shows starting June 3, 1997. The song entered the Hot R&B Airplay chart in mid-June, and peaked at #6 the week of August 9, 1997. It peaked at #51 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart the following week.
The song was released as the album's lead single on July 2, 1997 (see 1997 in music), and reached the top twenty in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. VH1 ranked the song 99th on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the '90s. And in 2010 Pitchfork Media included the song at number 33 on their Top 200 Tracks of the 90s. In 1998, "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" was named the fourth-best single of 1997 by the The Village Voice's annual-year end Pazz & Jop critics' poll.
"The Rain" is a 1986 crossover hit single originally performed by R&B singer Oran "Juice" Jones, which he released on and from his debut album Juice.
The song's lyrics include a long recitation at the end; written by Vincent Bell, who also composed the music, they involve a man confronting his girlfriend regarding her infidelity.
The single was Jones's biggest hit. It reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart for two weeks, making it the first #1 R&B hit issued by the then newly created Def Jam record label. The single also peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached #4 on the UK Singles Chart.
"The Rain" was nominated for two Grammy Awards, but Jones never had another Hot 100 hit and left the music business after his third album failed to chart. "The Rain" is ranked #63 on VH1's 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders of the '80s. During the show, Jones was asked about his one-hit wonder status. His reply was: "Oran 'Juice' Jones, he came, he saw, he conquered, he moved on. You dig?"
The House of Stuart is a European royal house. Founded by Robert II, the House of Stuart—also spelled Stewart in Scottish contexts—first became monarchs of the Kingdom of Scotland during the late 14th century before inheriting the kingdoms of England (including Wales) and Ireland in the 17th century. The dynasty's patrilineal Breton ancestors had held the office of High Steward of Scotland since the 12th century, after arriving by way of Norman England. In 1707, Queen Anne became the first monarch of the newly merged Kingdom of Great Britain. The family also maintained the traditional English claims to the Kingdom of France.
In total, nine Stuart monarchs ruled Scotland alone from 1371 until 1603. James VI of Scotland then inherited the realms of Elizabeth I of England, becoming James I of England in the Union of the Crowns. In all, four Stuart kings ruled the British Isles, with an interregnum of parliamentary rule lasting from 1649 to 1660 as a result of the English Civil War. Following the Glorious Revolution in 1688, two Stuart queens ruled the isles: Mary II and Anne. Both were the daughters of James II and VII; because of their family's Catholic ties, under the terms of the 1701 Act of Settlement and the 1704 Act of Security, the crown passed from the House of Stuart to the House of Hanover.
"Fall", written by Clay Mills, Sonny LeMaire, and Shane Minor, is a song which has been recorded by both country music singer Clay Walker and pop music singer Kimberley Locke, both of whom are signed to Curb Records. Both versions were released within weeks of each other in mid-2007; while Walker's version was released to country radio, Locke's was released to the adult contemporary radio format. Walker's reached number 5 on the U.S. country singles charts, and Locke's reached Number One on the U.S. Dance charts. Go West front man Peter Cox has recorded a version of "Fall" on his 2010 CD "The S1 Sessions".
"Fall" is a mid-tempo ballad in which the narrator addresses a lover who has had a bad day. The narrator then offers moral support to the lover: "Fall, go on and lose it all / Every doubt, every fear / Every worry, every tear".
Walker's version, the first version of the song to be released, was the second single from his 2007 album, which was also titled Fall. A music video was issued on October 17, 2007.
Fall is a surname. Notable people with the surname include:

After many requests, I had to try and bring back the face of Mary Stuart or Mary, Queen of Scots to life. Her tumultuous life, marriages, lineage, execution established her as a divisive and highly romanticized historical character, depicted in culture for many years.

Featuring Van Der Toorn
And when the rain begins to fall
You ride my rainbow in the sky
And I will catch you if you fall
You never have to ask me why
And when the rain begins to fall
I¹ll be the sunshine in your life
You know that we could have it all
And everything will be alright
Contemplating away to give Thanx¹
to the one person that was there to hold my hand.
That¹s the one person who was there, even when she wasn¹t there.
Never cared and kept focused and raised a strong BEAR.
By herself and three kids in a strange country.
Educate yourself and the kids with short money
wise words to gide you when your outdoors
and the respect to get when you¹re indoors.
From better to worse, from worse to terrible.
For what you¹ve achived - yeah, it¹s incredible,
and you tought me how to stay a black man,
learnd how to say sorry and how to say thanx.
I guess, there¹s no other way for me to express,
but I¹m sure that you know, so for this - God bless!
I wish for my MAMA to live forever
and for this I¹ll be there in any kind of weather.
And when the rain begins to fall
You ride my rainbow in the sky
And I will catch you if you fall
You never have to ask me why
And when the rain begins to fall
I¹ll be the sunshine in your life
You know that we could have it all
And everything will be alright
When the rain starts poring down from up above
- may every drop be a symbol of my love,
cause I¹m a grown man, now, let me state,
cause, if it wasn¹t for you, I wouldn¹t be here today.
On various occasions you bailed me out, swear me out,
and say:³Hey, Boy, shut your mouth!²
Now, I¹m my own man, with my own ways,
love for my peeps, oh Lord, I prays.
For you to live forever and be amazed,
how your boy could chase all the rainy days away.
Bring the sunshine and joy every day
Yeah, that¹s your boy, yeah, that¹s the BEAR!
Oh, don¹t you know what we could have, Baby ?
You know that we, we should be together - Forever
And when the rain begins to fall
You ride my rainbow in the sky
And I will catch you if you fall
You¹ll never have to ask me why
And when the rain begins to fall
I¹ll be the sunshine in your life
I¹ll be your sunshine
You know that we could have it all
And everything will be alright
