Michael Ironside (born Frederick Reginald Ironside, February 12, 1950) is a Canadian actor. He has also worked as a voice actor, producer, film director, and screenwriter in movie and television series in various Canadian and American productions. He is best known for playing villains and "tough guy" heroes, though he has also portrayed sympathetic characters. Ironside is a method actor, who stays in character between takes.
Ironside was born in Toronto, Ontario, the son of Robert Walter Ironside and Patricia June Passmore. His father was a street lighting technician, and his mother a homemaker.
Ironside attended the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and wrote a play at the age of 15, The Shelter, which won the first prize in a university contest. He also won the Senior writing award for Riverdale Collegiate Institute in 1967.
In a January 2010 interview, Ironside stated in response to a question about his many roles in science fiction movies that he has always been a big fan of science fiction and often received science fiction short story collections from his grandfather that he kept in a shoebox under his bed. He stated that his favourite science fiction novels are Dune by Frank Herbert and "anything involving adventure."

The post-apocalyptic action adventure that is a “kid’s movie that is not for kids” is discussed with Anouk Whissell, François Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissell, who tell how they secured the participation of Ironside for the film, the process of writing and shooting, and the possibility of an expanded sequel in this short episode of the Insiders.

TURBO KID is a post-apocalyptic, BMX-powered, blood-splattered love story that follows the epic journey of an orphaned outcast reluctant to be a hero in the wasteland of an alternate future. His routine existence is disrupted when he runs into the mysterious (and highly excitable) APPLE. Just as Apple starts to bring The Kid out of his isolated world with unflappable humour and goofy behaviour, their relationship is forever changed when she is kidnapped by a BOUNTY HUNTER working for ZEUS; the sadistic and overly-garrulous leader of the Wasteland. Armed with little more than blind faith and an ancient turbo charged weapon, THE KID must confront his fears and embark on an incredible journey with to rid the Wasteland of evil and to save the girl of his dreams.
Michael Ironside has starred in more than 125 feature films. Born in Canada, he studied at the Ontario College of Art and Canadian National Film Board. After working on numerous Canadian film and television productions, both in front of and behind the camera, he came to the forefront in David Cronenberg’s sci-fi hit SCANNERS (1981), garnering a Genie Award for Best Supporting Actor (one of multiple nominations and awards in an incredible career). This success was followed by roles including leads in TOP GUN and TOTAL RECALL. His many films include STARSHIP TROOPERS, THE PERFECT STORM, TERMINATOR SALVATION, THE MACHINIST, and X-MEN FIRST CLASS.
The RKSS, short for Road Kill Super Stars, is a collective of three filmmakers: Anouk Whissell, François Simard and Yoann-Karl Whissell. They co-write and co-direct all their films - over twenty shorts in the last ten years, many winning awards at various international festivals, including LE BAGMAN, TOTAL FURY et DEMONITRON: THE SIXTH DIMENSION. LE BAGMAN is said to be the first horror/slasher/gore film from Québec. It was sold across Europe and was even dubbed in German. The RKSS also wrote and directed the short film T IS FOR TURBO, which was originally made as a submission to THE ABC’S OF DEATH contest. Although the film was not chosen for the first anthology, it won the People’s Choice Award for the contest. Inspired by the characters of the short film, TURBO KID is their first feature film.

Though some details are off for cinematic effect (a leading female engineer, some of Chamberlin's "discoveries", and so forth), the core of the story is truthful. The only thing they messed up on that they couldn't have known at the time was that Diefenbaker was not the one who ordered the destruction, as it was in fact the military Chiefs with some background interference by the Americans, who feared the details could leak to the Russians. Nevertheless, as far as I'm concerned, this was possibly the greatest betrayal of what we as Canadians could have been in our entire history. The recent mess with the F-35 acquisition just accentuates this point.

As well, when searching for this film to go along with my reading of the book it's based on (Shutting Down The National Dream), I was unable to find it anywhere online (not even on one of CBC's official sites or in their store) and I was forced to find a way to acquire a copy of it from a third-party seller. Combined with this inconvenience, the project I was doing for school involved utilizing the CBC Heritage Minutes as reference; anyone who has seen the Arrow minute no doubt would agree with me that it lacks a huge amount of context, hence why I searched for this film in the first place and why I have uploaded it so that others can more easily get on with their lives and academics. As a final note, I will of course say that I mean no disrespect to any of the actors or actresses in this film, nor to CBC or the rest of the crew; in fact, I would say this is one of Dan Aykroyd's best performances.

Michael Ironside E3 2005 Lost Interview and Why we need the 'Real' Sam Fisher Back in Splinter Cell
Mr. Ironside was kind enough to let me interview him about the gaming industry while he was promoting his new SCI-FI TV series and Video Game crossover project, ICEPLANET (think of it as Showtimes,DEFIANCE, but with Michael Ironside (a.k.a.Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell video games). Despite being asked multiple times to E3 years before, this was his first appearance at the worlds biggest video game convention. It created quite a stir at E3 and I was one of the lucky few to get an interview. I was given 10mins (or about 10 questions) and we discussed his new project and many other topics about the video game industry. I would like to thank him again for his time (and for the cold beer later on back in Toronto). Its a Shame this interview never went to air. -

In Pandora Tomorrow, you reprise your role as Sam Fisher, along with old friends Irving Lambert and Anna Grimsdottir. A terrorist has a disease which he plans to spread through the United States. He makes daily phone calls to an undisclosed location every day, delaying the release of the disease by one more day. As Fisher, you must find out who the terrorist is, where he is, who he is working for, and above all, stop him. TimeShift - Michael Ironside Interview
Michael Ironside played the character of Professor Krone in the steampunk inspired version of TimeShift. Although Krone's role and presence remains the same in the final version of the game, it appears to be so that his character had much more screentime in the original version of the game. TimeShift was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows in late 2007. It's a first person shooter developed by Saber Interactive and published Sierra entertainment.. A terrorist has a disease which he plans to spread through the United States. He makes daily phone calls to an undisclosed location every day, delaying the release of the disease by one more day. As Fisher, you must find out who the terrorist is, where he is, who he is working for, and above all, stop him.
In order to do this, you are taken all around the world, from Paris to Indonesia to the holy land Jerusalem. Sam comes equipped with his standard pistol and SC-20K. The SC has been improved, with an added scope with two levels of zoom. You have access to all the equipment from the first game, including Sticky Shockers, Diversion Cameras, Frag and Smoke Grenades.
Sam has also learned some new moves. He has the ability to perform a SWAT turn, which allows him to pass from one side of an open door to the other without being spotted. He may perform a half-split jump, enabling him to lean against one side of a wall to give him boost to jump higher. He can also whistle, to attract the attention of any nearby enemies.
Pandora Tomorrow also has a full fledged multiplayer game, playable on Xbox Live. The multiplayer ties in to the single player campaign, and it pits the Shadownet team (spies) against the Argus team (mercs). The game supports four players.
Members of Shadownet must infiltrate various complexes to retrieve canisters of a deadly liquid, but they must watch out for cameras, motion sensors and trip lasers, all of which alert the mercs to their position. The spy cannot kill with weapons, but he can stun the mercs for several seconds in order to sneak up and kill from behind.
On the other side, the mercs must make their way to each canister, guarding it from the Shadownet team. Whenever an alarm is tripped, the merc is instantly alerted to where the spy is. To help fight the Shadownets, the mercs have a built-in motion sensor view, which picks up any moving objects, as well as an electromagnetic view, which picks up on spy gadgets. The mercs come equipped with a rifle, and must defend the viral canisters at all costs.
Multiplayer comes with a good variety of maps, ranging from a warehouse and a factory to a cinema and three towering skyscrapers. More maps will be available in the future via Xbox Live.

Michael Ironside played the character of Professor Krone in the steampunk inspired version of TimeShift. Although Krone's role and presence remains the same in the final version of the game, it appears to be so that his character had much more screentime in the original version of the game.
TimeShift was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows in late 2007. It's a first person shooter developed by Saber Interactive and published Sierra entertainment..

Tom Clancy's straight-laced military stories have been fertile ground for video games since 1987, when Argus Press Software (who?) released The Hunt For Red October on ZX Spectrum ... Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist. The latest in the Splinter Cell series is... just fine ... Doesn't help that Ubi ditched Michael Ironside from VO duties too, creating a weirdly less-likeable central character (despite him being, essentially, the same guy) ... ....

Ubisoft. Splinter Cell. Blacklist follows the recent trend of making stealth games more appealing to the masses while still making the core hardcore stealth elements available for those that want them (see Dishonored, Hitman. Absolution). This is a good thing. You can go stealthy. You can go Rambo ... Splinter Cell ... Spies vs ... Sam Fisher is no longer voiced by Michael Ironside, which is a pretty huge loss because his voice is so darn distinctive....

He’s a comic book nerd who lives in the Wasteland ruled by Zeus (Michael Ironside), who killed his parents ... Ironside, who is a veteran of the movies the RKSS team is paying tribute to, just oozes evil in every frame ... That said, it’s a total blast ... ....

The vocal work in the game is top-notch once again as well, Michael Ironside and Don Jordan return to reprise their respective roles as Sam and Lambert ... ....
