Mike Pniewski
Michael "Mike" Pniewski (born April 20, 1961) is an American actor and public speaker.
Life and career
Pniewski was born in Los Angeles, California. His education began at UCLA, where he graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater and also won the Natalie Wood Acting Award.
Pniewski has been an actor since 1992. His most notable role has been that of Chief of Detectives Kenny Moran on the hit television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He has also been seen on the Emmy Award-winning HBO series Recount. Pniewski appeared as legendary football coach Bobby Bowden in the film We Are Marshall and co-starred in the CBS/Hallmark Hall of Fame production Front of the Class.
Additional credits include Big Love, Thief, The Riches, Miami Vice, The Ultimate Gift, The Sopranos, Blue Bloods, CSI: NY, Conviction, Warm Springs, Buried Alive II, Spaceballs, One Tree Hill, CSI: Miami, ER, Runaway Jury, From the Earth to the Moon, Ray, Remember the Titans, and Two Soldiers, the 2003 Academy Award winner for Best Live Action Short Film.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade" is a proverbial phrase used to encourage optimism and a positive can-do attitude in the face of adversity or misfortune. Lemons suggest sourness or difficulty in life, while lemonade is a sweet drink.
Origins
The phrase was initially coined by Christian anarchist writer Elbert Hubbard in a 1915 obituary he penned and published for dwarf actor Marshall P. Wilder. The obituary, entitled The King of Jesters, praises Wilder's optimistic attitude and achievements in the face of his disabilities:
Although the expression was coined by Hubbard, many modern authors attribute the expression to Dale Carnegie who used it in his book How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. Carnegie's version reads:
Carnegie credited Julius Rosenwald for giving him the phrase.
Variations
The September 1916 edition of the Auburn Seminary Record was the first to publish the phrase following its initial coinage:
Eight years before Carnegie's book brought the phrase back into the mainstream, a poetic rendition of the phrase entitled The Optimist appeared in a 1940 edition of The Rotarian:

Learn about Fight Back Pittsburgh, an important new project of the Pittsburgh-based United Steelworkers Local 3657. This democratic, grassroots, labor-community coalition is based on the model of a chartered USW Chapter of Affiliate Members. Hello entertainment industry devotees--and especially The Walking Dead fans! Today I have a special treat for you. I interview Executive Producer (and generally terrific guy) Tom Luse of The Walking Dead!
Tom was gracious enough to sit down with me and talk about how he got into the entertainment industry, the impact that an Executive Producer has on a production, and on TWD specifically, and the impact working on this riveting show has had on him personally. Tom takes his work very seriously and it shows in the quality of this entire production.
We also talk about the industry here in Georgia, how it has evolved and what the future looks like. And lastly, Tom shares some great advice about what allowed him to succeed in this business--advice that anyone can put to work right away.

Learn about Fight Back Pittsburgh, an important new project of the Pittsburgh-based United Steelworkers Local 3657. This democratic, grassroots, labor-community coalition is based on the model of a chartered USW Chapter of Affiliate Members.
As a stand-alone affiliate organization it will use collective power to address issues of economic inequality and the disempowerment of working people in Pittsburgh. The program will draw on new strategies for collective action in the workplace outside of a traditional collective bargaining agreement as well as provide vehicle for working class people to come together across industry, workplace, employment status, and background.
If successful, Fight Back Pittsburgh could serve as a national model for bringing concerns on non-union workers, unemployed people, students and other community activists directly to the mainstream labor movement.

Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon ("Walk the Line") stars alongside Sudanese actors Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, and newcomer Nyakuoth Weil, many of whom were also children of war.
Mamere and Theo are sons of the Chief in their village in Southern Sudan. When an attack by the Northern militia destroys their home and kills their parents, eldest son Theo is forced to assume the role of Chief and lead a group of young survivors, including his sister Abital, away from harm. But the hostile, treacherous terrain has other dangers in store for them.
As the tattered group makes the difficult trek to Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, they meet other fleeing children, forging a bond with Jeremiah, who, at 13, is already a man of faith, and Paul, whose skills become essential to their survival.
Thirteen years later, the now young adults are given the opportunity to leave the camp and resettle in America. Upon arriving in Kansas, they are met by Carrie Davis (Witherspoon), an employment agency counselor who has been enlisted to help find them jobs—no easy task, when things like straws, light switches and telephones are brand new to them.
Although Carrie has successfully kept herself from any emotional entanglements, these refugees, who desperately require help navigating the 20th century and rebuilding their shattered lives, need just that. So Carrie embarks on her own unchartered territory, enlisting the help of her boss, Jack (Corey Stoll).
Together, against the backdrop of their shared losses, the Lost Boys and these unlikely strangers find humor in the clash of cultures, and heartbreak as well as hope in the challenges of life in America.

They were known simply as "The Lost Boys."
Orphaned by the brutal Civil war in Sudan that began in 1983, these young victims traveled as many as a thousand miles on foot in search of safety. Fifteen years later, a humanitarian effort would bring 3600 lost boys and girls to America.
In "The Good Lie," Philippe Falardeau, (writer and director of the Oscar®- nominated Foreign Language film "Monsieur Lazhar") brings the story of their survival and triumph to life. Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon ("Walk the Line") stars alongside Sudanese actors Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, and newcomer Nyakuoth Weil, many of whom were also children of war.
Mamere and Theo are sons of the Chief in their village in Southern Sudan. When an attack by the Northern militia destroys their home and kills their parents, eldest son Theo is forced to assume the role of Chief and lead a group of young survivors, including his sister Abital, away from harm. But the hostile, treacherous terrain has other dangers in store for them.
As the tattered group makes the difficult trek to Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, they meet other fleeing children, forging a bond with Jeremiah, who, at 13, is already a man of faith, and Paul, whose skills become essential to their survival.
Thirteen years later, the now young adults are given the opportunity to leave the camp and resettle in America. Upon arriving in Kansas, they are met by Carrie Davis (Witherspoon), an employment agency counselor who has been enlisted to help find them jobs—no easy task, when things like straws, light switches and telephones are brand new to them.
Although Carrie has successfully kept herself from any emotional entanglements, these refugees, who desperately require help navigating the 20th century and rebuilding their shattered lives, need just that. So Carrie embarks on her own unchartered territory, enlisting the help of her boss, Jack (Corey Stoll).
Together, against the backdrop of their shared losses, the Lost Boys and these unlikely strangers find humor in the clash of cultures, and heartbreak as well as hope in the challenges of life in America.

Learn about Fight Back Pittsburgh, an important new project of the Pittsburgh-based United Steelworkers Local 3657. This democratic, grassroots, labor-community coalition is based on the model of a chartered USW Chapter of Affiliate Members. As a stand-alone affiliate organization it will use collective power to address issues of economic inequality and the disempowerment of working people in Pittsburgh. The program will draw on new strategies for collective action in the workplace outside of a traditional collective bargaining agreement as well as provide vehicle for working class people to come together across industry, workplace, employment status, and background. As a stand-alone affiliate organization it will use collective power to address issues of economic inequality and the disempowerment of working people in Pittsburgh. The program will draw on new strategies for collective action in the workplace outside of a traditional collective bargaining agreement as well as provide vehicle for working class people to come together across industry, workplace, employment status, and background.
If successful, Fight Back Pittsburgh could serve as a national model for bringing concerns on non-union workers, unemployed people, students and other community activists directly to the mainstream labor movement.
