Rapper Sticks ging op speeddate met jongeren die leerproblemen hebben als gevolg van AD(H)D, autisme, dyslexie etc.. Vervolgens dook hij met beatmaker Ramiks de studio in om de track ‘Geen Verschil’ op te nemen. In dit nummer daagt Sticks jongeren die zich ‘anders’ voelen uit om zichzelf te durven zijn. Sticks schreef ‘Geen Verschil’ in het kader van het gelijknamige project van New Arts Nijmegen. Sticks ging op bezoek bij de Nijmeegse Sint Jorisschool waar jongeren met leerproblemen terecht kunnen voor leerweg ondersteunend onderwijs. Hij sprak met de leerlingen over hun school, over hoe het is om ‘anders’ te zijn en over hun toekomstplannen. Geïnspireerd door hun verhalen schreef hij ‘Geen Verschil'. In de track pleit hij voor onderling respect, je eigen pad volgen en trots zijn op wie je bent. En hij benadrukt dat in ‘anders zijn’ juist je kracht schuilt. Met de track en videoclip wil New Arts het zelfvertrouwen van alle jongeren die zich wel eens ‘anders’ voelen een boost geven. Initiatiefnemer is Jeroen Lazeroms (23), oud-leerling van de Sint Jorisschool, een school voor leerwegondersteunend onderwijs op vmbo-t niveau (LWOO). Net zoals veel andere jongeren, ondervond Jeroen aan den lijve hoe het is als de buitenwereld je in een hokje stopt omdat je ‘anders’ bent. In zijn geval gebeurde dat in de tijd dat hij op de Sint Jorisschool zat. Jeroen: “Mijn vrienden dachten, als je op de Sint Jorisschool zit, ben je niet helemaal normaal. Met als gevolg dat ik me schaamde voor mijn school en soms ook voor mezelf”. Met project ‘Geen Verschil’ greep Jeroen de kans om de huidige leerlingen van de Sint Jorisschool te laten zien hoeveel baat hij achteraf gezien heeft gehad bij de extra aandacht die hij op school kreeg. En hoe hij ‘anders zijn’ nu in zijn voordeel laat werken. Onder de vlag van New Arts organiseerde Jeroen samen met een groep jongeren en professionals een workshopdag en schoolfeest op zijn oude school. Zijn doel is om jongeren vooral mee te geven dat iedereen ‘anders’ is, iets wat Sticks volgens hem muzikaal perfect onder woorden brengt in de track. Het project ‘Geen Verschil’ wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door het VSBfonds, SKANfonds en de Lindenberg Nijmegen. Project History & More Info: I remember learning how to make some popsicle stick bombs in my early years, but can't exactly remember where or how. Probably some random kid showed me at school, but I never forgot how to make them. At the time, it seemed really cool to be able to create a "throwing star" that would explode when it hit the wall, and now that my kids are a little bit older but still young enough to enjoy popsicle sticks), I thought this might be a great project to try with them. I got a couple of bags of craft sticks and scoured the internet for different kinds of throwing stars or stick bombs that we could make. We ended up making 8 different kinds of stick bombs, which you'll see how to make in a future video. I've had hundreds of messages and comments asking for easy projects with simple materials, and this is about as simple as I can make it, however, I expect most of my viewers won't like it because it's a project geared toward a really young audience. But if you're a dad, your kids are going to love it .. so go have some daddy time, and make a bunch of exploding stick bombs!

Learn how to make homemade mozzarella sticks just like you find in a restaurant! So much better than the heat-n-serve frozen ones and a lot cheaper too! I don't recommend baking these as the breading needs to cook before the cheese turns to oozing molten lava. ;-) What you'll need: 8oz. mozzarella cheese 1/4 cup flour 2 large eggs 2 Tbsp water 2 cups Italian Style breadcrumbs (see how I make mine here: http://youtu.be/GMTG73oBXXQ ) vegetable oil for frying Start by cutting the block of cheese in half and then standing on edge and slicing in half again followed by cutting into 5 equal sections. Each cheese stick should be approx. 1/4"x1/4"x3". One (8oz) block of cheese will make 20 mozzarella sticks. Toss the cheese sticks in flour and shake to remove excess flour. Whisk eggs with water in a pie plate or bowl and coat the floured sticks in the mixture. In another pie plate or bowl, add bread crumbs and coat the cheese sticks. Shake off excess crumbs and set aside. Repeat the breading process by dipping in the egg mixture again followed by the bread crumbs again. Put onto a plate and freeze for at least 2 hours. This helps to prevent cheese blowout during cooking. Heat oil to 350*F. In small batches, fry the cheese sticks until golden brown. It takes less than a minute to cook them. Remove to a paper towel lined plate or a wire rack to drain. Serve with marina sauce and enjoy! Makes 20 mozzarella cheese sticks. Music by KevinMacLeod (http://incompetech.com)
