In part one of our interview with Vikings actor Clive Standen (he plays Rollo), we talk about his first ever trip to Australia for Oz Comic-Con. We find out what Aussie actor Travis Fimmel (also from Vikings) recommended he do while in the country.
We talk about the great weather in Queensland, scuba diving with whales, the crummy weather in Sydney and some of his experiences filming Vikings in the inclement weather of Ireland.

Clive Standen is no stranger to historical dramas, having starred in the Camelot miniseries, the BBC show Robin Hood, and now, History's Vikings. The actor stopped by our LA studios recently to talk about his early start doing stuntwork as a child in his native England and the roundabout way he came to be an actor. Clive also talked to us about bringing his kids to the Ireland set of Vikings and getting into character as Rollo, who is based on a real-life historical figure. The season finale of Vikings airs this Sunday at 10/9 Central.

Standen is an Arts and Crafts house located near East Grinstead, West Sussex, England. The house and its surrounding gardens belong to the National Trust and are open to the public.
Between 1892 and 1894 architect Philip Webb, who was a friend of William Morris, designed the house for a prosperous London solicitor, James Beale, his wife Margaret, and their family. It is decorated with Morris carpets, fabrics and wallpapers, and the garden complements the beauty of the house. The house still has its original electric light fittings. The house was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1972.
The estate was formed from three farms which the Beales had purchased in 1890.
The Beales started planting a 12-acre (49,000 m2) garden almost immediately after they had purchased the land, using the site of an 18th-century garden and orchard. In early 1891 trees were planted, a yew hedge established and the kitchen garden begun.
The Beales consulted a London landscape gardener who drew up a layout that assumed that the new house would be located on the line of the existing terrace. However, Webb suggested that it rather be placed further into the hillside. The proposed planting schemes were characterised by strict geometrical layouts of colourful flowerbeds and shrubs. Webb preferred something else, however: a mixture of natural styles combining old-fashioned formality and compartmentalised gardens. Webb also designed a number of elements in the garden.

Clive Standen (born 22 July 1981) is an English actor best known for playing Sir Gawain in the Starz (TV network) series Camelot as well as 'Archer', the brother of Robin Hood in the BBC TV series Robin Hood and Private Carl Harris in the British sci-fi show Doctor Who.
Standen's first experience of stunts, horse riding and sword fighting was at age twelve when he got his first job working in a professional stunt team in Nottingham. At the age of fifteen Standen was a member of both the National Youth Theatre and the National Youth Music Theatre performing in productions at many well known venues. Later Standen won a place on the three year acting course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
In 2004 Standen appeared in Waking the dead, the Second World War documentary drama Ten Days to D-Day, and took the lead role of Major Alan Marshall in the Zero Hour TV dramatisation of the SAS mission, operation Barras, in Sierra Leone. The next year he appeared in three episodes of the British soap Doctors and Tom Brown's Schooldays, the acclaimedITV adaptation of the book by Thomas Hughes. Standen played Private Carl Harris in three episodes of the fourth series of the relaunched British sci-fi show Doctor Who. The following year he played 'Archer', the brother of Robin Hood in the BBC TV series Robin Hood. Standen is currently part of the main cast of the TV series Camelot for Starz (TV network) in which he portrays the famous Arthurian knight Sir Gawain.

Uncle Fester, or Fester Addams, is a member of the fictional Addams Family and the antagonist of the crossover films. He was played by Jackie Coogan in the original television series, by Christopher Lloyd in the first two feature films, and by Patrick Thomas in the third, Addams Family Reunion. Finally, Michael Roberds played Fester in The New Addams Family. In the Broadway musical, the part was originated by Kevin Chamberlin, with Brad Oscar taking over on March 8, 2011.
Uncle Fester is a particularly shy man when it comes to seeing someone he likes and he is a completely hairless, hunched, and barrel-shaped man with dark, sunken eyes and often a deranged smile. He always wears a heavy, full-length fur coat. Fester was derived from a character drawn by cartoonist Charles Addams, although these were single page cartoons, with no stories or character names. Nevertheless, the character is recognizable in a number of cartoons, both by his appearance (bald, stooping, sunken eyes) and behavior (e.g. turning the shower to a special "scalding" setting, feeding his garden plants on blood plasma, or releasing an eagle on the neighbor's homing pigeons). However, he is almost never seen in the same cartoons with the rest of the family, even for family celebrations like pouring boiling oil on carol singers (though he was in one cartoon with the two children—going fishing with dynamite). It may be that he was introduced to the family at the time of the sitcom for dramatic convenience. It is known that the name "Fester" was chosen by Addams for the sitcom.

Die Identität des Einzelnen im einst geteilten und seit 25 Jahren wieder geeinten Deutschland ist gedanklicher Ausgangspunkt des Abends. After the major anniversary celebration last year, where the festival stretched over the entire inner ring road, the Leipzig Festival of Lights 2015 explores new themes: While, in recent years, the focus was on neighbouring countries to the east and their movements for democracy, the emphasis is now on issues surrounding civil society. "Liberty - Equality - Fraternity?" is the motto of this year - critically backlighting this statement and, thus, punctuated by a question mark. The identity of the individual in a Germany, once divided and now reunited for 25 years, is the intellectual starting point of the evening. A tension-filled panorama is created through the interaction and interplay of text, image and music. Here you can find an exclusively impression of this year's programme.

Van 13 t/m 16 november 2015 organiseert Picha Foto Travel een fotoreis naar Parijs !!
De stad van lichtjes en romantiek: dat is Parijs !! We gaan vier dagen fotograferen in deze mooie metropool. Onder leiding van een vakfotograaf gaan we de mogelijkheden van je de camera (nog) beter leren kennen. Vele technische en creatieve aspecten zullen in de vier dagen aan de orde komen.
Een gedeelte in de vier dagen is gereserveerd om een een eigen invulling te geven aan de reis. Ons doel is om met de groep een mooie en leerzame, gezellige reis te maken en als betere en meer ervaren fotograaf thuis te komen met een tevreden gevoel. Iedere reis van Picha Foto moet een belevenis zijn !!
De reis is geschikt voor zowel beginnende als gevorderde fotografen met een spiegelreflex- en uitgebreidere compactcamera. Wij begeleiden ieder fotografisch kennisniveau. Een redelijke conditie is wel vereist omdat veel gewandeld wordt door Parijs. De dagen zullen intensief zijn omdat het een specifieke fotoreis is. We zullen dus lange dagen maken met fotograferen.
In Parijs kunnen alle soorten fotografie wel aan de orde komen.

Vrijblijvend kunnen we een aantal foto-opdrachten voor de reis meegeven. Dit geeft meestal weer een leuke extra uitdaging binnen een groep en is leuk bespreekmateriaal op de reünie na afloop van de reis. De reünie plannen we meestal een aantal maanden na de reis. We gaan dan gezamenlijk de beste foto's van alle medereizigers bekijken. Naast de gezelligheid kunnen we dan de beelden bespreken en kijken wat er eventueel aan verbeterd zou kunnen worden.
Voorafgaand aan de fotoreizen organiseren we altijd een reizigersdag waarin we met elkaar kennis maken en afspraken maken voor onder andere de kamerindeling en vervoer.
We bezoeken tijdens onze reis vele fotogenieke locaties en typisch Parijse wijken, zoals:

Sacré-Coeur en Montmartre
Arc de Triomphe
Eiffeltoren
Louvres
Peres Lachais
Centre Pompidou
Moulin Rouge
Tour Montparnasse
La Defense
De kosten voor deze 4-daagse fotoreis zijn vanaf € 575,-
Verblijf op een 1-persoonskamer is mogelijk tegen toeslag, op dit moment ligt dit rond de €100. De reis heeft maximaal 8 deelnemers.
Inbegrepen in de reissom:
- drie overnachtingen in een hotel op basis van een 2 of 3-persoonskamer met ontbijt
- intensieve persoonlijke begeleiding tijdens het fotograferen
- een compleet fotografie- en reisprogramma
- reünie

Entry Title: "Adrenalin pur - Im zweiten Anlauf"

"Zwischen Bogota und Karibikküste gibt es ein paar nette Kolonialstädte zu sehen und so machten wir Halt in Villa de Leyva, einem solchen schönen Städtchen. Das Hostel, dass wir in unserem nicht ganz aktuellen Reiseführer entdeckt hatten, gab es anscheinend nicht mehr und so kamen wir durch Zufall bei nem hippen Österreicher unter, der drei kleine Zimmer vermietete. In den drei Zimmern wohnten jedoch außer uns wohl noch drei kleine Schimmelpilze und im Nu zeigten Dörte´s Augen Allergiealarm höchster Stufe an. Okay, hier würden wir vielleicht nicht allzu lange bleiben... Also raus aus dem Zimmer und rein in die Rockbar. In Villa gab es nämlich nicht viel, aber immerhin eine Karin&D;örte Bar. Dort planten wir dann auch unsere Aktivitäten für den nächsten Tag. Außer Essen gehen und Kaffee trinken und vielleicht ne Straußenfarm besichtigen (?), gab es nicht so viel zu tun. Wir wollten Fahrräder ausleihen und ein wenig die Umgebung erkunden und vor allem mal wieder Sport machen. Blöderweise war der nächste Tag ein Sonntag und die südamerikanische Gemächlichkeit erreichte somit ihren Höhepunkt. Wir standen nämlich vor verschlossenen Fahrradladentüren und trotz mehrerer Anrufe und dem Versprechen, gleich den Laden zu öffnen, war eine Stunde später immer noch zu. Mittlerweile waren auch fiese Gewitterwolken aufgezogen (Kolumbien in der Regenzeit ist immer für Überraschungen gut) und unser Tatendrang nicht mehr so immens groß. Da war doch noch so ne nette Rockbar... Also rein in die gute Stube! Und bei toller Musik und leckerem Cappuccino ließ es sich auch ziemlich gut aushalten...
Ja, Moment - Warum hieß denn der Titel "Adrenalin pur"?
Nach der Flaute in Villa de Leyva wollten wir es in San Gil, dem Abenteuerspielplatz Kolumbiens und unserem nächsten Ziel, wirklich wissen. Wir hatten nur Gutes über die Stadt gehört und wurden tatsächlich mit einem Riesenangebot an mehr oder weniger adrenalingespickten Aktivitäten empfangen. Dazu gehörten Ausritte und Fahrradtouren, man konnte "rappeln" gehen, wobei man Wasserfälle runterklettert, man konnte sich von irgendwo abseilen, durch Höhlen kriechen, sich mit nem Kayak, Schlauchboot oder Bodyboard in die weißen Fluten stürzen und viele weitere unnütze aber lustige Dinge tun. Da fühlten wir uns gleich wohl! :)
Am liebsten hätten wir alles gleichzeitig gemacht, doch uns zog es auch so langsam an den Strand und so entschieden wir uns für eine Radtour zu einem schönen, abgelegenen Wasserfall mit Schwimmmöglichkeit und fürs "Hydrospeeding", einer Sportart bei der man besser auch einfach einen Fluss entlang schwimmen kann. Man bekommt nämlich ein Styroporbrett und zwei mehr oder weniger passende Schwimmflossen an die Füße und wird so einen Wildwasserbach runtergeschickt. Zum nach links und rechts lenken, lehnt man sich auf die entsprechende Seite und strampelt wie ein Irrer; zum schneller werden und um fiesen Steinen auszuweichen, lehnt man sich weiter aufs Brett und bringt die Beine an die Oberfläche. Langsamer machen gibt es nicht. Und wenn große Stromschnellen kommen, dann heißt es einfach festhalten und aufs Beste hoffen.
Wir hatten einen netten, wenn auch vielleicht nicht sooo kompetenten Guide, der abwechselnd mit Karin flirtete oder Dörte im Viereck rumschickte. Dörte alias "Ocho" (die Südamerikaner sind mit dem Namen einfach immer überfordert) strampelte also einen halben Kilometer hinter Karin hin und her und war doch irgendwie immer auf der falschen Seite. "Ocho, hierher!", "Ocho, links. Schnell!", "Nein, Ocho, schnell darüber. Nicht so weit! Aahh!". Das Ganze sah ziemlich lustig aus und "Ocho"schaffte es sogar, zwei Stunden ohne Abzusaufen durchzuhalten und bis ans rettende Ufer zu kommen!
Wir waren fix und fertig, unsere Füße von den Schwimmflossen mit Blasen übersät, unsere Bäuche vom Rumrutschen auf dem Brett mit Schrammen überzogen, doch wir grinsten beide wie Honigkuchenpferde. Das war einer der ..."
