We have creepy château, instead Dracula's castle, we have female vampires, we do have the excellent Peter Cushing return as vampire hunter, Van Helsing, and Terence Fisher once again in the director's chair...but no Count this time, it's young Baron Meinster, as 'the bloke in the cloak'! In this documentary, skilfully produced by Donald Fearney and Jim Groom, we get some pretty good guests with some new anecdotes, and on set tales, co star Yvvone Monlaur chats, as does many from the behind the scenes crew, script writer Jimmy Sangster and Margaret Robertson included. As with all Fearney documentaries, a great number of photographs, all knitted together by the rich tones of Edward de Suza's narration...

Three years later an Egyptian, Mehemet Bey, transports the mummy to England to seek revenge against those who desecrated the Princess' tomb. It is left to Stephen Banning's son John to unravel the mystery and to protect his wife Isobel, who bears a striking resemblance to the Princess.

Terence Fisher
Terence Fisher (23 February 1904 – 18 June 1980) was a British film director who worked for Hammer Films. He was born in Maida Vale, a district of London.
Life and career
Fisher was one of the most prominent horror directors of the second half of the 20th century. He was the first to bring gothic horror alive in full colour, and the sexual overtones and explicit horror in his films, while mild by modern standards, were unprecedented in his day. His first major gothic horror film was The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), which launched Hammer's long association with the genre and made British actors Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee leading horror stars of the era. He went on to film a number of adaptations of classic horror subjects, including Dracula (1958), The Hound of the Baskervilles (1959) and The Mummy (1959).
Given their subject matter and lurid approach, Fisher's films, though commercially successful, were largely dismissed by critics during his career. It is only in recent years that Fisher has become recognised as an auteur in his own right. His films are characterised by a blend of fairy-tale, myth and sexuality. They may have drawn heavily on Christian themes, and there is usually a hero who defeats the powers of darkness by a combination of faith in God and reason, in contrast to other characters, who are either blindly superstitious or bound by a cold, godless rationalism (as noted by critic Paul Leggett in Terence Fisher: Horror, Myth and Religion, 2001). In 1895, a team of archaeologists uncover the tomb of Princess Ananka, an Egyptian high priestess. They are warned not to disturb the tomb but in doing so, inadvertently bring to life the mummy of Kharis, the high priest who loved the Princess. While in the tomb alone, something happens to frighten the leader of the expedition, Stephen Banning. Three years later an Egyptian, Mehemet Bey, transports the mummy to England to seek revenge against those who desecrated the Princess' tomb. It is left to Stephen Banning's son John to unravel the mystery and to protect his wife Isobel, who bears a striking resemblance to the Princess.

While in the tomb alone, something happens to frighten the leader of the expedition, Stephen Banning. Three years later an Egyptian, Mehemet Bey, transports the mummy to England to seek revenge against those who desecrated the Princess' tomb. It is left to Stephen Banning's son John to unravel the mystery and to protect his wife Isobel, who bears a striking resemblance to the Princess.

Short behind the scenes television feature about Hammer Films 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed' (1969) Directed by Terence Fisher featuring production scenes at Elstree film studios, England. Short interviews featuring Peter Cushing, Hammer Films CEO Sir James Carreras. Feature was made as part of the television programme, 'Made In Britain'. Much of this could B ROLE unedited footage too, judging by the time code. Even rarer! Despite it's unpredictable sound drops and vision wobbles, for many I am sure there is much to see here for the first time, Cushing, Carlson and Fisher rehearsing, a version of George Prava's make up not see on screen, Bert Batt prepping one of the many great scenes from the film. I make no apologies for the sound or picture quality...it is what it is...and we are somewhat lucky that this unique peep into the world of Hammer and Cushing on set, still survives.
