Drum and bass (/ˈdrʌm ənd ˈbeɪs/) (also written as drum 'n' bass and commonly abbreviated as D&B, DnB or D'n'B) is a genre of electronic music which emerged from rave and oldschool jungle scenes in England during the early 1990s. The style is often characterized by fast breakbeats (typically between 150–180 beats per minute) with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, sampled sources, and synthesizers.
The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other homegrown dance styles in the UK including big beat and hard house. Drum n bass incorporates a number of scenes and styles. A major influence on jungle and drum and bass was the original Jamaican dub and reggae sound. Another feature of the style is the complex syncopation of the drum tracks' breakbeat.
Drum and bass subgenres include breakcore, ragga jungle, hardstep, darkstep, techstep, Neurofunk, ambient drum and bass, liquid funk, deep, drumfunk, funkstep, sambass dnbnoise and drill and bass. From its roots in the UK, the style has established itself around the world. Drum and bass has influenced many other genres like hip hop, big beat, dubstep, house music, trip hop, ambient music, techno, rock and pop. Drum and bass is dominated by a small group of record labels. The major international music labels have shown very little interest in the drum and bass scene. Drum and Bass remains most popular in the UK, but has developed scenes all around the world, in countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand, Canada and Australia.

The drum is a member of the percussion group of musical instruments. In the Hornbostel-Sachs classification system, it is a membranophone. Drums consist of at least one membrane, called a drumhead or drum skin, that is stretched over a shell and struck, either directly with the player's hands, or with a drum stick, to produce sound. There is usually a resonance head on the underside of the drum, typically tuned to a slightly lower pitch than the top drumhead. Other techniques have been used to cause drums to make sound, such as the thumb roll. Drums are the world's oldest and most ubiquitous musical instruments, and the basic design has remained virtually unchanged for thousands of years.
Drums may be played individually, with the player using a single drum, and some drums such as the djembe are almost always played in this way. Others are normally played in a set of two or more, all played by the one player, such as bongo drums and timpani. A number of different drums together with cymbals form the basic modern drum kit.
Iron is a chemical element with symbol Fe (from Latin: ferrum) and atomic number 26. It is a metal in the first transition series. It is by mass the most common element on Earth, forming much of Earth's outer and inner core. It is the fourth most common element in the Earth's crust. Its abundance in rocky planets like Earth is due to its abundant production by fusion in high-mass stars, where the production of nickel-56 (which decays to the most common isotope of iron) is the last nuclear fusion reaction that is exothermic. Consequently, radioactive nickel is the last element to be produced before the violent collapse of a supernova scatters precursor radionuclide of iron into space.
Like other group 8 elements, iron exists in a wide range of oxidation states, −2 to +6, although +2 and +3 are the most common. Elemental iron occurs in meteoroids and other low oxygen environments, but is reactive to oxygen and water. Fresh iron surfaces appear lustrous silvery-gray, but oxidize in normal air to give hydrated iron oxides, commonly known as rust. Unlike many other metals which form passivating oxide layers, iron oxides occupy more volume than the metal and thus flake off, exposing fresh surfaces for corrosion.

I have been neglecting one my my main influences, Mike Watt, for some time now, and it is high time I give him some tube space. This time I am going with some of his late 80s and early 90s stuff with fIREHOSE. This is a trilogy of tunes off of their second album, fROMOHIO. Mas Cojones, Some Things, Time With You This album is kind of special to me because I live in Ohio, for one, and for two, it uses so many styles of bass playing and plays them so cleanly that I used it as a practice album for a few months. There are some great tunes on here! So in honor of the great Mike Watt and this great post-punk album, I am posting not one, but two Trilogies off of this album in the next few days. The duet of videos should be a total of six tunes, and should catch me up and atone for my...
My son made this shakuhachi while we were camping on Ocean Cove CA. Made form Bull Kelp or Nereocystis, a monotypic genus of kelp. It lasted a few hours before the utaguchi shriveled making it very difficult to play. A reminder that if the utaguchi on a bamboo shakuhachi is not shaped well, it will be difficult to blow a sound. See related video also on youtube- The World's Youngest Shakuhachi Maker.

This is one of my favourite songs ever, with the most legendary bassline ever created, so enjoy. :) There are a few mistakes (such as the start scratching not going for long enough, and then a really awkward moment), and I used the DVD Hysteria from HAARP as the backing track, so I have kind of merged parts of the studio version and the live version together, and also please don't complain about me not doing the last solo riff, due to Matt Bellamy playing it over his head at the time and I thought it made a bit more sense just to do the normal outro. Progress Denied kills Garrosh Hellscream for the first time on 10man heroic mode in Siege of Orgrimmar. Difficulty wise this wasn't the hardest, but there wasn't much room for error, one mistake can easily cause a wipe. We spent a long time on this boss after rebuilding the majority of the roster mid way through, but we were persistent and got there in the end for a well deserved kill! www.ProgressDenied.com
