The Pity Party is a two-piece band from Los Angeles composed of Heisenflei (simultaneous drums, keyboards, and vocals) and M (guitar, vocals). They are the first band without representation to score a full-page feature in NME. The Pity Party's artwork is created exclusively by Ronald Dzerigian.
Heisenflei and M met in high school, where they sang in choir together. In 2004 they recorded their first music on a digital 8-track recorder in Heisenflei's studio apartment in Silverlake, California. Their first self-release was The EP (produced by Noah Shain) in 2006; champions of the environment, Heisenflei and M folded and glued 750 CD sleeves made out of recycled cereal boxes. Their second self-released EP, Orgy Porgy (produced by Stevehimself) was recorded at Moonshine Studios. The group used recycled billboard vinyl to create 1,000 CD jackets which were hand sewn and screen printed with six unique images by artist Ronald Dzerigian.
In July 2007, Los Angeles' Indie 103.1FM KDLD featured The Pity Party live in its "Also I Like to Rock" series at The Hammer Museum. They have received attention from members of the band Ozomatli who played "The War Between 8 & 4" on their show Ozolocal on LA's Star 98.7FM KYSR. "Guru of the soon-to-be-great," John Kennedy, has included "H.O.T.S." on his playlist for his highly popular show X-Posure on XFM London. Most recently, The Pity Party presented RUBBISH, a celebration of trash, at Echo Curio Art Gallery in Echo Park. For the event, The Pity Party produced 100 limited edition EPs with recycled billboard vinyl sleeves. While the band performed, artist Ronald Dzerigian drew a unique image on the sleeve of each distributed CD.

Lucille Désirée Ball (August 6, 1911 - April 26, 1989) was an American comedienne, film, television, stage and radio actress, model, film and television executive, and star of the sitcoms I Love Lucy, The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy and Life With Lucy. One of the most popular and influential stars in the United States during her lifetime, with one of Hollywood's longest careers, especially on television, Ball began acting in the 1930s, becoming both a radio actress and B-movie star in the 1940s, and then a television star during the 1950s. She was still making films in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1962, Ball became the first woman to run a major television studio, Desilu, which produced many successful and popular television series.
Ball was nominated for an Emmy Award thirteen times, and won four times. In 1977 Ball was among the first recipients of the Women in Film Crystal Award. She was the recipient of the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 1979, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kennedy Center Honors in 1986 and the Governors Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 1989.

Well, he got many strange offers to choose from, and he selected the ones that most interested him. Through trial and error, George Valentine learned how to become a very good detective.
Today on Southbridge Old Time Radio, we present a more secure and confident George Valentine from February 28, 1949. Here is “Let George Do It” and the episode titled “Your Money or Your Life.” Here to get us started is organist Eddie Dunstedter and announcer John Hiestand. Take it away.

It starred Bob Bailey as detective-for-hire George Valentine (with Olan Soule stepping into the role in 1954) The few earliest episodes were more sitcom than private eye shows, with a studio audience providing scattered laughter. The program then changed into a suspenseful tough guy private eye series. Valentine's secretary was Claire Brooks, aka Brooksie (Frances Robinson, Virginia Gregg, Lillian Buyeff). As Valentine made his rounds in search of the bad guys, he usually encountered Brooksie's kid brother, Sonny (Eddie Firestone), Lieutenant Riley (Wally Maher) and elevator man Caleb (Joseph Kearns). For the first few shows, Sonny was George's assistant, but he was soon relegated to an occasional character. John Hiestand was the program's announcer. Don Clark directed the scripts by David Victor and Jackson Gillis. The background music was supplied by Eddie Dunstedter, initially with a full orchestra. When television supplanted radio as the country's primary home entertainment, radio budgets got skimpier and skimpier and Dunstedter's orchestra was replaced by an organ.

Welcome to a special Easter theme program on Southbridge Old Time Radio, Southbridge, Massachusetts. I’m Brent Abrahamson.
Radio programs during the Golden Age often had traditions that listeners looked forward to with great anticipation. “The Great Gildersleeve’s” yearly Easter program is a good example. Today on Southbridge Old Time Radio, we present one of our favorites.
There is much to like about this episode, but we want to focus on actress Lillian Randolph who played Birdie, outlasting even the two Gildersleeves, Harold Peary and Willard Waterman. Lillian Randolph had a long career at a time when African American actresses were inevitably depicted as maids and cooks. Yes, she played those parts, but with a dignity befitting this daughter of a Methodist minister. Her faith carried her through. She stated that her time on “The Great Gildersleeve” was the most joyous time in her working life as an actress. The cast and crew were like family. Lillian Randolph started her career as a singer, and today we have the pleasure of hearing her once again.

Jerry Fairbank's 1948 Standard Oil (Indiana) film "Inside Story of Modern Gasoline" is the subject of this installment of "Jon Boschen's Classic Industrial Film Showcase". This classic industrial film explores Standards Red and White crown brands that were being marketed during the post World War 2 era. The film makes great use of cinematography, cartoon animation, and a terrific musical score to discuss and sell the brand. The "Inside Story of Modern Gasoline" was one of two versions of the film that was made simultaneously; this version being produced for internal exhibition amongst Standard Oil employeesl. The second version "Gasoline's Amazing Molecules" (currently missing) was prepared for public exhibition, and interestingly has the same running time as "Inside Story Of Modern Gasoline".
Boschen's intro to the film gives background information on the Standard Oil Company of Indiana and also the Jerry Fairbanks studio. The intro was shot with a Canon 5D Mark III and edited with Adobe Premiere Pro.
REVISED EDITION (OCTOBER 2015)
This revised edition includes:

Jerry Fairbank's 1948 Standard Oil (Indiana) film "Inside Story of Modern Gasoline" is the subject of this installment of "Jon Boschen's Classic Industrial Film Showcase". This classic industrial film explores Standards Red and White crown brands that were being marketed during the post World War 2 era. The film makes great use of cinematography, cartoon animation, and a terrific musical score to discuss and sell the brand. The "Inside Story of Modern Gasoline" was one of two versions of the film that was made simultaneously; this version being produced for internal exhibition amongst Standard Oil employeesl. The second version "Gasoline's Amazing Molecules" (currently missing) was prepared for public exhibition, and interestingly has the same running time as "Inside Story Of Modern Gasoline".
Boschen's intro to the film gives background information on the Standard Oil Company of Indiana and also the Jerry Fairbanks studio. The intro was shot with a Canon 5D Mark III and edited with Adobe Premiere Pro.

This revised edition includes:
