Catchfly - Lychnis flower - Hvítur Ástarlogi í blóma
Catchfly, Dusty miller, Rose campio , Oxe-eye-daisies - Ástarlogi. A varied family of flowering plants with 5-petaled, bright flowers and attractive foliage. They flower for a long period through summer and tolerate drought and poor soil. They all prefer sun. : http://www.specialperennials.com/Other_Perennials/Plant_List_Lychnis.htm Ástarlogi Lychnis coronaria - vex víða villtur í Evrópu. Ástarlogi er með silfurgráa stöngla og falleg flauelismjúk grágræn laufblöð The genus is closely related to (and sometimes included in) Silene, differing in the flowers having five styles (three in Silene), the seed capsule having five teeth (six in Silene), and in the sticky stems of Lychnis. Common names include "campion" (shared with Silene) and "catchfly", the latter name based on the sticky stems. The Lychnis is also the common name of Hadena bicruris, a species of noctuid moth. The larva of this moth feeds on Lychnis species, as do some other Lepidoptera including Cabbage Moth (recorded on L. chalcedonica), Grey Chi and case-bearers of the genus Coleophora including C. albella (feeds exclusively on L. flos-cuculi) and C. leucapennella. : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lychnis The contrast between the flowers that appear from midsummer, and the white woolly stems and foliage is quite striking. A sun-loving perennial that will flourish in freely draining soil. : http://www.rhsplants.co.uk/plants/_/perennials/other-perennials/lychnis-coronaria-gardeners-world/itemno.RH30002112/ Agrostemma coronaria er sama plantan og Lychnis coronaria.- published: 06 Sep 2013

Helminthotheca echioides - Bristly Ox-tongue .11 July 2013. Old name Picris echioides.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helminthotheca_echioides H. echioides may grow up to 90 cm (35 in) tall, with a thick, furrowed stem and spreading branches. The leaves are 10--20 cm (4--8 in) long, oblanceolate with a short petiole. The leaves, branches and stem are all covered in thick bristles. The inflorescences are 2--3.5 cm (0.8--1.4 in) wide and subtended by between 3 and 5 large ovate-cordate involucral bracts.[5] These large bracts are the defining feature of the genus Helminthotheca.[6] A number of infraspecific taxa are recognised, varying in their leaf shape.[7] Distribution[edit source] Helminthotheca echioides is native to the Mediterranean Basin, but has become widely naturalised outside that range. In the British Isles, it is widely distributed in the south and east, but more patchily distributed to the north and west.[8] In Northern Ireland, H. echioides is only found on the north side of Belfast Lough.[3] It has been introduced to North America, where it can now be found from Nova Scotia to British Columbia and California.[9]- published: 01 Sep 2013
