One of the vital parts of sounding good when you sing is to make sure you are singing in tune - or on pitch as well call it in musician speak.
So what this means is that you are matching the note that you need to sing exactly. many singers tend to fall flat of the note - which is when you are slightly under. Or you may sing slightly above which is singing SHARP - but most commonly singers fall flat.
And this occurs for three reasons:
1. There's not enough air flow/ breath support
2. there is not enough space in your mouth when you are singing
3. your need to develop your musical hearing.
So let's break this down:
1. Breath support and airflow.
As a singer you are essentially a wind insturment. So you need air coming through your instrument so that your vocal folds can vibrate and produce sound.
Now if there is not enought airflow your vocal folds can't do their job properly and you end up straining your throat to compensate and the result is singing flat.
So a simple exercise to get your airflow happening is to sigh - because when we sigh, our throats are naturally relaxed and we're allowing a lot of airflow to come out.
Then extend the sigh - this is just getting you into the habit of having more airflow. Try this a bunch of different notes and do some sighing during your warm ups.
2. Space in your mouth.
If you have ever been inside a big cathedral or any room that has a high rounded ceiling, it usually has that nice reverb that echo when you speak loudly. The sound is amplified and it sounds nice and resonant. The same goes for your voice.
If you create more space in your mouth, your sound quality will improve.However if you're not opening your mouth enough and your tongue is lazy, then what is doing is squashing all the sound down and results in a flattened pitch.
So to get that nice rounded mouth, 'How now brown cow' when you do this your soft palate raises and everything goes into the right position. So think posh, drop your jaw and keep that space happening. You want to go LONG not wide.
3. Your musical hearing:
Training your ears is vital not only to singing in tune, but it also increases your versatility as a singer. If you have good hearing, you can sing vocal harmony, you can improvise, and your appreciation of music will increase because you will be able to hear all the different sounds and instruments and you'll know if your accompanist plays a wrong note plus you'll be able to start off your songs better because you'll be able to hear your start note after the piano player does an intro for you.

How To Sing On Pitch – How To Sing In Tune – Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
Pitch is a big subject, and the reasons for lack of good pitch vary from person to person.
While there are similar reasons people struggle with pitch, there are also many differences.
Let me explain:
We must first start at the the beginning, with the building blocks, in order to eliminate the moving targets that inhibit good pitch.
1. Support Is King: Good diaphragmatic abdominal support. This is the engine that drives your car. Without it, especially when ascending a passage, scale, or higher notes in a song, pitch will be directly affected by this one component alone. Make sure you are supporting all your notes throughout your range. This will build consistency and remove this as being a possible obstacle.
2. Relaxation Response: We must understand that since the abdomen is carrying the load (for strength in the sound) we must train the chest, neck, and throat to relax, to let the abdomen do the “heavy lifting.”
3. Vowel Placement: We must also learn correct vowel modifications and build good muscle-memory to hold that vowel placement. In other words we need to understand how it is supposed to feel in the throat for these vowels when we sing. If we don’t, it’s like a car with no steering wheel or a ship with no rudder. We need to confidently “steer” these vowels in the right direction with the greatest of ease in the throat.
4. Over-Enunciation Of Consonants: Because we are training with “Open Throat Technique” (to keep the back of the throat as open as possible and not close down the throat when we sing with something called “contiguous phrase singing.” De-emphasizing the consonants enables us to not close down the throat during consonants, and not have to “re-set” up the vowels, so we aren’t constantly having to try to re-open the vocal tract to find that space in the throat again.
5. Air Compression: When we go up and down in a song, there are different amounts of air compression that builds up in the head. The higher we go, the more this compression occurs. The effect of this is much like the doppler effect of a train or police siren passing by at a high speed. Though the “true” sound of the train doesn’t change, there is a perceived change in the “pitch” of that train or siren. We must learn to compensate for this. Try an experiment and you will see what I mean. Get yourself a pair of “closed back” headphones (so there is no air/ audio leak from the outside). Put on some music where music is playing in the room and have the same music playing in your headphones. You will notice that after listening for about 30 seconds, when you remove the headphones, the “pitch” will drop. It doesn’t actually drop, it’s just your perception of this pitch will sound “flat” or underneath the pitch you heard in your headphones compared to the room. Now let’s relate this to voice. When we ascend a scale or passage, this same kind of “doppler” effect happens in the head. We train ourselves to be able to compensate for this change.
6. Ear Training Exercises: To “sharpen” one’s ear to good pitch, there are some excellent exercises that can be done to conquer pitch issues with confidence. It takes time, consistency, and patience. I cover these concepts in my singing course called “How To Sing Better Than Anyone Else.”

Help Me Help You
Help Me Help You is an American television situation comedy that aired from September 26, 2006 to December 12, 2006. It was first broadcast at 9:30pm Tuesdays on ABC in the United States and on Global in Canada. Help Me Help You was a comedy about a collection of eccentric individuals in group psychotherapy with a respected therapist—who may quite possibly have more problems than his patients.
The series was pulled from the schedule on December 14, 2006, leaving four episodes unaired.
On May 15, 2007, ABC officially canceled the show after the network announced their 2007–2008 fall schedule.

Sing It
"Sing It" is a song by American recording artist Rebecca Black. It was released on the iTunes Store under the label RB Records, as Black's fourth single on May 8, 2012. "Sing It" received mixed to positive reviews from music critics, surprising some due to the song not being modified with the pitch correcting software Auto-Tune that was used in Black's previous singles. The accompanying music video was premiered the day before.
Background
On May 2, 2012, Black revealed that she was going to release a single titled "Sing It". Black unveiled the single artwork through her official website. A preview of 30 seconds was posted at YouTube. A studio version leaked via Radio Disney a few days before official premiere. On May 8, 2012, the accompanying music video was uploaded on Black's YouTube channel, with release of the single digitally at iTunes Store.
About the song, Black said: "It's called 'Sing It' and it's very different from past songs I've released. It has a really fun feel to it and is just about letting loose and letting the music take over."

One of the vital parts of sounding good when you sing is to make sure you are singing in tune - or on pitch as well call it in musician speak.
So what this means is that you are matching the note that you need to sing exactly. many singers tend to fall flat of the note - which is when you are slightly under. Or you may sing slightly above which is singing SHARP - but most commonly singers fall flat.
And this occurs for three reasons:
1. There's not enough air flow/ breath support
2. there is not enough space in your mouth when you are singing
3. your need to develop your musical hearing.
So let's break this down:
1. Breath support and airflow.
As a singer you are essentially a wind insturment. So you need air coming through your instrument so that your vocal folds can vibrate and produce sound.
Now if there is not enought airflow your vocal folds can't do their job properly and you end up straining your throat to compensate and the result is singing flat.
So a simple exercise to get your airflow happening is to sigh - because when we sigh, our throats are naturally relaxed and we're allowing a lot of airflow to come out.
Then extend the sigh - this is just getting you into the habit of having more airflow. Try this a bunch of different notes and do some sighing during your warm ups.
2. Space in your mouth.
If you have ever been inside a big cathedral or any room that has a high rounded ceiling, it usually has that nice reverb that echo when you speak loudly. The sound is amplified and it sounds nice and resonant. The same goes for your voice.
If you create more space in your mouth, your sound quality will improve.However if you're not opening your mouth enough and your tongue is lazy, then what is doing is squashing all the sound down and results in a flattened pitch.
So to get that nice rounded mouth, 'How now brown cow' when you do this your soft palate raises and everything goes into the right position. So think posh, drop your jaw and keep that space happening. You want to go LONG not wide.
3. Your musical hearing:
Training your ears is vital not only to singing in tune, but it also increases your versatility as a singer. If you have good hearing, you can sing vocal harmony, you can improvise, and your appreciation of music will increase because you will be able to hear all the different sounds and instruments and you'll know if your accompanist plays a wrong note plus you'll be able to start off your songs better because you'll be able to hear your start note after the piano player does an intro for you.

Pitch is a big subject, and the reasons for lack of good pitch vary from person to person.
While there are similar reasons people struggle with pitch, there are also many differences.
Let me explain:
We must first start at the the beginning, with the building blocks, in order to eliminate the moving targets that inhibit good pitch.
1. Support Is King: Good diaphragmatic abdominal support. This is the engine that drives your car. Without it, especially when ascending a passage, scale, or higher notes in a song, pitch will be directly affected by this one component alone. Make sure you are supporting all your notes throughout your range. This will build consistency and remove this as being a possible obstacle.
2. Relaxation Response: We must understand that since the abdomen is carrying the load (for strength in the sound) we must train the chest, neck, and throat to relax, to let the abdomen do the “heavy lifting.”
3. Vowel Placement: We must also learn correct vowel modifications and build good muscle-memory to hold that vowel placement. In other words we need to understand how it is supposed to feel in the throat for these vowels when we sing. If we don’t, it’s like a car with no steering wheel or a ship with no rudder. We need to confidently “steer” these vowels in the right direction with the greatest of ease in the throat.
4. Over-Enunciation Of Consonants: Because we are training with “Open Throat Technique” (to keep the back of the throat as open as possible and not close down the throat when we sing with something called “contiguous phrase singing.” De-emphasizing the consonants enables us to not close down the throat during consonants, and not have to “re-set” up the vowels, so we aren’t constantly having to try to re-open the vocal tract to find that space in the throat again.
5. Air Compression: When we go up and down in a song, there are different amounts of air compression that builds up in the head. The higher we go, the more this compression occurs. The effect of this is much like the doppler effect of a train or police siren passing by at a high speed. Though the “true” sound of the train doesn’t change, there is a perceived change in the “pitch” of that train or siren. We must learn to compensate for this. Try an experiment and you will see what I mean. Get yourself a pair of “closed back” headphones (so there is no air/ audio leak from the outside). Put on some music where music is playing in the room and have the same music playing in your headphones. You will notice that after listening for about 30 seconds, when you remove the headphones, the “pitch” will drop. It doesn’t actually drop, it’s just your perception of this pitch will sound “flat” or underneath the pitch you heard in your headphones compared to the room. Now let’s relate this to voice. When we ascend a scale or passage, this same kind of “doppler” effect happens in the head. We train ourselves to be able to compensate for this change.
6. Ear Training Exercises: To “sharpen” one’s ear to good pitch, there are some excellent exercises that can be done to conquer pitch issues with confidence. It takes time, consistency, and patience. I cover these concepts in my singing course called “How To Sing Better Than Anyone Else.”

How to Fix Flat Singing - Sing On Pitch / http://www.BeltingCrashCourse.com - Take my FREE 3-video belt singing course!
This video explains the most common reasons why singers fall or sing flat (beneath pitch) which breaks down to: (1) Not enough breath support, or, more commonly, (2) not enough space in the face and mouth to allow the pitch to resonate.
Staying on pitch for singing requires also that you anticipate jumps in notes, like ascending intervals, and it's important to get your "landing gear" out and ready BEFORE you land (sing a note).
If you've been told you have "pitch problems," don't worry. Learning how to stay on pitch is simpler than you think. Learning how not to sing flat takes some practice so your cords have more control, but it also is a mental process. And the more you can utilize these mental cues, the better pitch you will have!
As a professional voice finder, it's my sworn duty to teach you how to find your singing voice! Learning how to improve your singing voice is all about simple, achievable steps that make SENSE to you. All of us learn how to sing on our own timeline, and certain things will click more than others. But it's important that YOU understand your voice more than anyone else -- learning how to be a good singer is, in many ways, getting to know yourself :) If you feel you don't yet know how to sing like a pro, be patient -- every baby step and daily practice session helps. (And I'll keep posting new vids to help you!)

In order to get a big and powerful singing voice, the singer needs to incorporate many singing techniques together.
Furthermore, this can only be done by practicing regularly with the correct vocal exercises.
Now to open up further for bigger singing sound, the singer has to open the area near the base of the tongue. This can be down by imagining the beginning of a yawn. This imaging opens up the singing pathway, keeps the tongue in the correct position and lifts the soft palate making your mouth shaped like a megaphone. A megaphone produces a bigger sound doesn’t it?
With this mouth structure, the back of the throat will naturally open up making the critical link between the vocal tone colors of the upper and lower resonances possible. While you are singing, the inner structure of your mouth is constantly working, moving to fine tune the oral cavity until the feel and sound of any sustained note just right.

Mental Preparation for study.
Your motivation for learning should be clear. Set clear goals and objectives, keep in mind that top grades can lead to higher earnings and a better quality life, learn to work for them.
Get into the habit of doing a minimum daily 10min. mindfulness meditation exercise, (increasing the duration as you become more proficient), sit comfortably, focus your attention for a couple of minutes on your breathing, observe your breath entering and leaving your body. As your thoughts start to distract you, consciously bring your attention back to your breath. When you're relaxed and focused, visualize yourself at your study desk accomplishing everything you want to do during that day, visualize yourself retaining all that information. Visualize yourself achieving the results you want. Visualize the quality of life you want from your efforts.
Practicing mindfulness will assist you in an exam situation to focus on the task at hand.
Know when you are 'Switched On'. Try to be aware of your bio clock and what time of the day you work best. Optimise by revising when you work best but keep an eye on the exam date and time. You will need to get used to working at that hour.
Do the challenging revision first,when you are fresh. Trying to focus on complex problems when you are tired can be difficult. Break your study sessions down to 20-30 minute segments, Your memory and concentration will work better if you study in short bursts, but often.
