Logicism is one of the schools of thought in the philosophy of mathematics, putting forth the theory that mathematics is an extension of logic and therefore some or all mathematics is reducible to logic.Bertrand Russell and Alfred North Whitehead championed this theory, created by mathematicians Richard Dedekind and Gottlob Frege.
Dedekind's path to logicism had a turning point when he was able to reduce the theory of real numbers to the rational number system by means of set theory. This and related ideas convinced him that arithmetic, algebra and analysis were reducible to the natural numbers plus a "logic" of sets; furthermore by 1872 he had concluded that the naturals themselves were reducible to sets and mappings. It is likely that other logicists, most importantly Frege, were also guided by the new theories of the real numbers published in the year 1872. This started a period of expansion of logicism, with Dedekind and Frege as its main exponents, which however was brought to a deep crisis with the discovery of the classical paradoxes of set theory (Cantor 1896, Zermelo and Russell 1900–1901). Frege gave up on the project after Russell recognized and communicated his paradox exposing an inconsistency in naive set theory. On the other hand, Russell wrote The Principles of Mathematics in 1903 using the paradox and developments of Giuseppe Peano's school of geometry. Since he treated the subject of primitive notions in geometry and set theory, this text is a watershed in the development of logicism. Evidence of the assertion of logicism was collected by Russell and Whitehead in their Principia Mathematica.
Mario Kart Wii (マリオカートWii, Mario Kāto Wī) is a racing video game developed and published by Nintendo, and released worldwide for the Wii video game console in April 2008. Mario Kart Wii was originally announced at E3 2007 by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé.
Like its previous installments of games, Mario Kart Wii incorporates playable characters from the Mario series, who participate in kart races on various race tracks using specialized items to hinder opponents or gain advantages. The game features multiple single-player and multiplayer game modes. Online multiplayer via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection was available at launch, but was discontinued in May 2014, along with Wii and Nintendo DS games that supported online play.
Mario Kart Wii takes advantage of the Wii Remote's motion sensing to provide intuitive and conventional steering controls; each copy of the game is bundled with the Wii Wheel accessory to augment this feature. Alternate controllers to the Wii Wheel are proven to have an advantage over the Wii Wheel as for the wider and quicker controller input. Players are able to use the Wii's other controllers, as well.
Mario Kart (マリオカート, Mario Kāto) is a series of go-kart-style racing video games developed and published by Nintendo as spin-offs from its trademark Super Mario series. The first in the series, Super Mario Kart, was launched in 1992 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System to critical and commercial success.
There have been five Mario Kart games released for home consoles, three portable games, and three Namco co-developed arcade games, for a total of eleven. The latest title in the series, Mario Kart 8, was released on Wii U in May 2014. The series has sold over 100 million copies worldwide to date.
The first title in the Mario Kart series is Super Mario Kart and was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992. The development of the first game was overseen by Shigeru Miyamoto, the Japanese video game designer who helped create the original Super Mario Bros., as well as many other successful games for Nintendo. Darran Jones of NowGamer suggests that the original success of Super Mario Kart was the result of including characters previously seen in Mario Bros. games, while also being a new type of racing game.
Friedrich Ludwig Gottlob Frege (/ˈfreɪɡə/;German: [ˈɡɔtloːp ˈfreːɡə]; 8 November 1848 – 26 July 1925) was a German philosopher, logician, and mathematician. He is considered to be one of the founders of modern logic and made major contributions to the foundations of mathematics. He is generally considered to be the father of analytic philosophy, for his writings on the philosophy of language and mathematics. While he was mainly ignored by the intellectual world when he published his writings, Giuseppe Peano (1858–1932) and Bertrand Russell (1872–1970) introduced his work to later generations of logicians and philosophers.
Frege was born in 1848 in Wismar, in the state of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (which is today part of the German federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). His father Carl (Karl) Alexander Frege (3 August 1809 – 30 November 1866) was the co-founder and headmaster of a girls' high school until his death. After Carl's death, the school was led by Frege's mother Auguste Wilhelmine Sophie Frege (née Bialloblotzky, of Polish descent, 12 January 1815 – 14 October 1898).
Patricia Blanchette discusses Logicism and the work of Gottlob Frege. Logicism is a school of thought in the philosophy of mathematics which tries to reduce mathematics to logic. Gottlob Frege was a 18th-19th century German philosopher and mathematician who made important contributions to the fields of logic, philosophy of language, and philosophy of mathematics. This is an episode of Elucidations, a philosophy podcast from the University of Chicago.

It's a very old and admitted idea: mathematics and logics are based on extensions of our own rationnality. /// "This idea goes all the way back to the ancients: if we really understood reason, if we rearlly understood what thinking was,it would be apparent [...] that certain very fundamental aspects of mathematics are just reflection of rationnality, of logical thinking." I decided to do another series for Mario Kart Wii which is kind of a bit old but I thought why not bring back any nostalgia for it. I used a computer to record and play Mario Kart Wii since I didn't have an EasyCap or a digitizer using the Dolphin Emulator. I used the development build using the Vulkan Renderer since the OpenGL and DirectX was a bit slower when recording. The graphics I used is the NVIDIA GeForce 840M which is definitely a bit unstable for the Dolphin but at least 90% of the recording was in 60fps and pretty much smooth. I am going to record me playing on the Wiimmfi which is an alternative to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection which was discontinued 2014. Plus I am available to play with you but however if you want to use the Wiimmfi, you have to homebrew your real Wii or na...

discussion about Russells paradox and the move from Frege's concentration on extensions and concepts to Russells type theory logicism (in a brief and not too detailed fashion). R
In this more personal video, I discuss a phase in my philosophical development, which I term my "logicist" phase. This was a time when I was particularly interested in and optimistic about the prospects of using logic and mathematics to entirely understand reality. I discuss what drew me into that phase and what four main sources pulled me out of it

Peter Adamson (LMU) gives a talk at MCMP titled "Logic as an Instrument in Greek and Arabic Philosophy". As is well known, the Aristotelian works on logic were collectively referred to in antiquity as the Organon, meaning "instrument". Ancient Aristotelians took this seriously: for them, logic is not a part of philosophy but only a tool or instrument which one should ideally learn before embarking on the study of philosophy proper. This view was not universally adopted in antiquity, however. The Stoics made logic one of three broad areas of philosophy (along with ethics and physics), and thought of these areas as closely interrelated "parts". In this talk Professor Adamson explores the philosophical consequences of this apparently rather superficial disagreement; for instance, how it bears...
