After receiving a request for other translations of the Bible, we have decided to begin a "Language Harmony Project." Our goal is to find specific scriptures that show subtle differences in wording through the evolution of the English language (and earlier translations). We plan to record readings of the same scripture when available from:
Latin (Jerome 4th century)
Gothic (4th century)
Anglo Saxon/ West Saxon/Old English (11th century)
Early to Late Middle English including Wycliffe (c. 1380), Tyndale (1530)
Early Modern English including Bishop's (1568), Geneva (1599), and King James Version with original spelling (1611)
Please enjoy the shifts in pronunciation as you listen to the Word of God as it transitioned from the Latin Vulgate to what we read today. This will be an ongoing project and we will post as we finish recordings.
Our Language Harmony Project is dedicated to God our Father in Heaven, and His only Begotten Son, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Although our languages and how we read and pronounce the words in the Bible have changed, the message we want our listeners to hear is that God Our Heavenly Father, God the Son and Our Savior, and God the Holy Spirit who lives in us after we receive Jesus Christ into our hearts and commit to serve him have never changed! God is the Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever! Amen

Early Modern England: Politics, Religion, and Society under the Tudors and Stuarts (HIST 251)
Professor Wrightson provides an introduction to the course. He briefly discusses the main features of the political and social landscape of early modern England and then summarizes the broad social and structural changes that occurred during the period. Professor Wrightson offers some thoughts on the nature of history and the study of history and focuses, in particular, on the benefits of studying the history of early modern England. He notes that the history of Britain in this period affected many other nations, such as early America and Canada, as well as later colonies such as those in Africa and India, and that studying these events helps us to better understand ourselves in time and contextualize many of the features of modern society that we take for granted.
00:00 - Chapter 1. The Historical Importance of Epidemics
07:23 - Chapter 2. Themes of the Course
19:49 - Chapter 3. Humoralism and Bubonic Plague
28:37 - Chapter 4. Logistics
Complete course materials are available at the Open Yale Courses website: http://open.yale.edu/courses
This course was recorded in Fall 2009.
