Surname:
Given name:
Benoît Delbecq (born 6 June 1966) is a French pianist and composer.
Benoît Delbecq was born in St Germain en Laye, and raised in a musical environment. He started studying piano in Bougival at the age of seven with Nicolle Mollard, a former student of Alfred Cortot. He first studied jazz harmony with parisian pianist Jean-Pierre Fouquey, then joined IACP in Paris (in 1982), a jazz and improvised music school founded and directed by bassist Alan Silva, while he continued high school and furthermore sound engineering studies. In 1983 he met Mal Waldron who encouraged him to work on his own music. As he had become an assistant director for films as well as an assistant in sound engineering, Delbecq finally opted to become a professional musician after attending the Banff Centre Jazz Workshop, Canada, in the summer of 1987, where he studied with Dave Holland, Steve Coleman and Muhal Richard Abrams among others. He then studied composition and music analysis with Solange Ancona at the Versailles National Conservatory, studied with pianist Georges Delvallée at Cachan Conservatory. He went back again to the Banff Jazz workshop in the summer of 1990 where he studied under the direction of Steve Coleman. There he met peers like pianists Ethan Iverson and Andy Milne, saxophonists Tony Malaby and Jorrit Dijsktra, and trumpeter Ralph Alessi among others, as well as British drummer Steve Argüelles, a long-term accomplice.
Julian Argüelles Clarke (born 28 January 1966) is an English jazz saxophonist. He is a member of the hr-Bigband in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Born in Lichfield, Staffordshire, Argüelles was raised in nearby Birmingham, the younger brother of the jazz drummer Steve Argüelles.
Argüelles started playing with big bands including the European Community Big Band that toured throughout Europe. In 1984 he moved to London. He studied briefly at Trinity College of Music before joining the much acclaimed band Loose Tubes, staying with them for four years and recording two albums. In 1986 he received the prestigious Pat Smythe award for young musicians.
The first album by Julian Argüelles, Phaedrus, featured pianist John Taylor. The second CD Home Truths was a quartet which included Steve Swallow.
Argüelles has worked with musicians drawn from around the world including Archie Shepp, Tim Berne, Hermeto Pascoal, Steve Swallow, John Abercrombie, Dave Holland, Peter Erskine, Chris McGregor, Evan Parker, Mike Gibbs, John Scofield, Carla Bley, Dudu Pukwana, Arturo Sandoval, and Giorgio Gaslini. Julian is also a member of several big bands including The Kenny Wheeler Big Band, Django Bates' Delightful Precipice and Colin Towns' Mask Orchestra.
Stephen Argüelles Clarke (born 16 November 1963) is an English jazz drummer, producer and is the proprietor of the Plush record label. He has also worked in film and theatre. He is the elder brother of saxophonist Julian Argüelles. Steve currently resides in Paris, France.
Argüelles was born in Crowborough, East Sussex and raised in Birmingham. From the age of 16, when he became the house drummer at Ronnie Scott's, through his seminal work as a founder of the 1980s group Loose Tubes, and his work with Django Bates in the early Human Chain, he has shown an innovation beyond the usual role of the drummer. He also was the drummer of soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy during a series of duo concerts.
Argüelles has collaborated with folk singer Corin Curschellas and John Wolf Brennan of Switzerland and with Nguyên Lê. He also plays in a trio with Benoît Delbecq and Noël Akchoté : The Recyclers. With Benoit Delbecq and electric bassist Christophe Minck, he also played with the French male popsinger Katerine on two LP : Les Créatures (1999) and Huitième Ciel (2002), and a lot of concerts in Europe.

Aaron Pryor vs Alexis Arguello I - Aaron Pryor defends his WBA Light Welterweight Championship of the World against Alexis Arguello. The fight had been given alot of media attention and was considered a sure Fight of the Year winner. The fight didn't disappoint, but it didn't get Fight of the Year, however it got ranked #8 in the 100 Greatest Fights of all time by Ring Magazine in 1996. The fight also had some controversy, as 'Panama' Lewis, the trainer of Pryor requested a specific bottle of which Pryor was to drink from; 'The one that I mixed'. The fight ended in the next round, and no urin test was administered by the Miami Boxing Commision after the bout. Because of this, they had a rematch 10 months later. - Their records at the time Aaron Pryor: 31-0 Alexis Arguello: 77-5

Mount Shasta's New Age Harmonic Convergence Filmed August 16-18, 1987. A "real" found footage film containing a candid glimpse into Mount Shasta's New Age spirituality. WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS NUDITY & DRUG USE. The following footage was filmed in August on and around Mount Shasta, California, during the 1987 Harmonic Convergence, a sort of New Age Woodstock. I do not own the copyright to this footage, but was given permission to use portions of it for a project. The original VHS footage is close to 30 years old now, and is archived at the College of Siskiyous where it has been available for viewing in the library on request. I did some digital work on the footage to try and clean up the video and audio, with mixed results. I'm often contacted by journalists and television producers loo...
