Status quo is a Latin phrase meaning the existing state of affairs, particularly with regards to social or political issues. In the sociological sense, it generally applies to maintain or change existing social structure and values.
It is the nominal form of the prepositional Latin phrase "in statu quo" – literally "in the state in which", which itself is a shortening of the original phrase in statu quo res erant ante bellum, meaning "in the state in which things were before the war". To maintain the status quo is to keep the things the way they presently are. The related phrase status quo ante, literally "the state in which before", means "the state of affairs that existed previously".
The original phrase from 14th-century diplomatic Latin was in statu quo res erant ante bellum, meaning "in the state in which things were before the war". This gave rise to the shorter form status quo ante bellum "the state in which (it was) before war" (indicating the withdrawal of enemy troops and restoration of power to pre-war leadership), as well as other variations such as status quo itself.

"And I" is a song written by American R&B singer Ciara, and produced by Adonis Shropshire for Ciara's first album, Goodies (2004). It was released as the album's fourth and final single on August 30, 2005 (see 2005 in music) in North America.
The song was originally the third choice for the fourth single. Ciara has mentioned in an interview that "Thug Style", "Hotline" or "Pick up the Phone" would be the fourth single, but when Ciara suggested "And I" to executives at her previous record label LaFace, they were unhappy because they wanted "Next to You" to be the fourth single.
At the time of the U.S. release of "And I", Ciara's collaboration with Bow Wow, "Like You", and her collaboration with Missy Elliott, "Lose Control", were at the height of their popularity. "And I" peaked at 96 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and 27 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, which were poor positions compared to those attained by the first three singles from the album Goodies. It was not released outside North America because of this, and it is Ciara's least successful single.
Status (Latin plural: statūs), is a state, condition, or situation.

( Rossi / Young )
Now you know this ain't the kind of life for you
It's not the way you thought that it would be
If I could change my way to you
If I could change, it wouldn't be me
And you see
I know I never tried the things I should have done
Oh and time is always passing by
I want to do the things I never done before
So I do try not to tell a lie
When I'm so low, when I'm so high
Yet you cry when I say I can't give you more
First you said you'd never try to slow me down
That ev'rything would work out really fine
But as those walls closed in on us
your words just fell right out of line
And behind
I know I never tried the things I should have done
And time is always passing by
I want to do the things I never done before
So I do try not to tell a lie
When I'm so low, when I'm so high
yet you cry when I say I can't give you moreOh, oh, oh, can't give you more
Can't give any more
Oh, oh, oh, can't give you more
Ain't got any more
Did you figure ours would be an easy thing
Like lazy days of lying in the sun
I told you if you wanted me
That ev'ry day just wouldn't be fun
Now it's done
I know I never tried the thing I should have done
And time is always passing by
I want to do the things I never done before
So I do try not to tell a lie
When I'm so low, when I'm so high
Yet you cry when I say I can't give you more
Oh, oh, oh, can't give you more
Can't give you more
Oh, oh, oh, can't give you more
I ain't got any more
Oh, oh, oh, I ain't got any more
I ain't got any more
Oh, oh, oh, can't give you more
I ain't got any more
