Hi, I'm Vincent Zurzolo, COO, ComicConnect.com. We're very proud to announce a record sale. The highest graded copy of Amazing Fantasy #15, the first appearance of Spider-Man, in CGC 9.6 condition, sold for $1.1 Million dollars. And here is the comic book.
In the 1980s, we acquired this comic and sold it for $2,500. In the early 2000s, we acquired this comic book again, and sold it for $140,000. And recently we were able to broker a deal for that buyer for $1.1 Million, making it not only the most expensive Silver Age comic book ever sold, but the second most expensive comic book ever sold. Second only behind Action Comics #1 in CGC graded 8.5 condition, which we sold last year for $1.5 Million.
When I was a little kid, I used to dig through my parents couch looking for extra change so that I could run up to the corner drug store to buy any comic book I could get my hands on. I loved Spider-Man. I loved Marvel Team-Ups that featured Spider-Man. To me the idea that later on in life I would be able to sell a comic book for over a million dollars is like a dream come true. I never imagined in a million years.
Spiderman is my favorite character. When I was a little kid, my mom bought me the reprints of the early issues, including Amazing Fantasy #15, and I got to read how Spider-Man became Spider-Man. Anybody out there can imagine or remember some point in their life where they felt like the outcast. Where they felt like they didn't fit in. Where they were picked on... some way, shape or form. That was Peter Parker when he started out. Who would have believed that a comic book that came out from a company that was almost bankrupt in the 1960s is worth so much today and so popular. 12 cents! Now, $1.1 Million.
So we've sold a comic book for $1 Million. $1.5 Million. $1.1 Million. What will the future hold? Who knows?

I was invited the day before by Vacouver Baymax because he needed someone to help him move around in his large costume. I acted as spotter to make sure he didn't knock over any displays or people.
I sought this as an opportunity to capture some cosplays during the contest. About nine people participated in the event which included Vancouver Baymax but also Cutey Kitty.
I was a good event with lots of prizes. I also walked away with quite a few comic books and figurines. Good store with plenty comics and figurines.

There are no chin stroking art snobs gawking at the works, nor established commercial artists adoring the walls, of a neatly kept art space...

Metropolis is a fictional city that appears in comic books published by DC Comics, and is the home of Superman. Metropolis first appeared by name in Action Comics #16 (September 1939).
Within the DC Universe, Metropolis is portrayed as one of the largest and wealthiest cities on Earth. Since then, Metropolis has become a city inspired by New York City, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Toronto, Vancouver, and Los Angeles. Most of the notable landmarks in Metropolis are based on real-life landmarks in New York City. However contrary to belief, Metropolis, according Joe Shuster, was modelled after Toronto.
Like many other fictional cities in DC Comics, the location of Metropolis has varied greatly over the years. Metropolis is usually portrayed as a major city on the East Coast, lending to the idea that Metropolis is the DC Universe equivalent to New York City. Superman co-creator Joe Shuster moved to Cleveland by age ten, where he met co-creator and Ohio native Jerry Siegel. Originally intending to sell the Superman strips to a Cleveland newspaper, they set the stories there as well, and when the strips were re-used for the comic books, they changed the location to Metropolis. (Action Comics #2, however, mistakenly portrays Clark Kent as a reporter for the Cleveland Evening News. The earliest specific reference to Metropolis located it in New York State: in Superman #2 (Fall 1939), Clark (Superman) Kent sent a telegram to George Taylor, the editor of the Daily Star (the antecedent to the Daily Planet), addressed to "Metropolis, N.Y."

A metropolis is a very large city or urban area which is a significant economic, political and cultural center for a country or region, and an important hub for regional or international connections and communications. The term is Greek and means the "mother city" of a colony (in the ancient sense), that is, the city which sent out settlers. This was later generalized to a city regarded as a center of a specified activity, or any large, important city in a nation.
New York City is often cited as the quintessential metropolis, exerting a significant impact upon global commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment and being widely regarded as one of the economic and cultural capitals of the world.
Urban areas of less than one million people are rarely considered metropolises in contemporary contexts.[citation needed] Big cities belonging to a larger urban agglomeration, but which are not the core of that agglomeration, are not generally considered a metropolis but a part of it. The plural of the word is most commonly metropolises.

I acted as spotter to make sure he didn't knock over any displays or people. I sought this as an opportunity to capture some cosplays during the contest. About nine people participated in the event which included Vancouver Baymax but also Cutey Kitty. I was a good event with lots of prizes. I also walked away with quite a few comic books and figurines. Good store with plenty comics and figurines. -

Hi, I'm Vincent Zurzolo, COO, ComicConnect.com. We're very proud to announce a record sale. The highest graded copy of Amazing Fantasy #15, the first appearance of Spider-Man, in CGC 9.6 condition, sold for $1.1 Million dollars. And here is the comic book.
In the 1980s, we acquired this comic and sold it for $2,500. In the early 2000s, we acquired this comic book again, and sold it for $140,000. And recently we were able to broker a deal for that buyer for $1.1 Million, making it not only the most expensive Silver Age comic book ever sold, but the second most expensive comic book ever sold. Second only behind Action Comics #1 in CGC graded 8.5 condition, which we sold last year for $1.5 Million.
When I was a little kid, I used to dig through my parents couch looking for extra change so that I could run up to the corner drug store to buy any comic book I could get my hands on. I loved Spider-Man. I loved Marvel Team-Ups that featured Spider-Man. To me the idea that later on in life I would be able to sell a comic book for over a million dollars is like a dream come true. I never imagined in a million years.
Spiderman is my favorite character. When I was a little kid, my mom bought me the reprints of the early issues, including Amazing Fantasy #15, and I got to read how Spider-Man became Spider-Man. Anybody out there can imagine or remember some point in their life where they felt like the outcast. Where they felt like they didn't fit in. Where they were picked on... some way, shape or form. That was Peter Parker when he started out. Who would have believed that a comic book that came out from a company that was almost bankrupt in the 1960s is worth so much today and so popular. 12 cents! Now, $1.1 Million.
So we've sold a comic book for $1 Million. $1.5 Million. $1.1 Million. What will the future hold? Who knows?

Lucas is unpacking, building and doing a review of the LEGO set 76002 DC Comics SUPERMAN: Metropolis Showdown from Super Heroes line. This is a small 119-piece building set for kids 6-12 years old. The Superman LEGO play set comes with 2 LEGO minifigures, Superman and General Zod and features also an easy-to-build Roadster Car and a structure with an Antenna tower. Lucas is unpacking, building and doing a review of the LEGO set 76002 DC Comics SUPERMAN: Metropolis Showdown from Super Heroes line. This is a small 119-piece building set for kids 6-12 years old. The Superman LEGO play set comes with 2 LEGO minifigures, Superman and General Zod and features also an easy-to-build Roadster Car and a structure with an Antenna tower.
LEGO Super Heroes Superman Play Set Review: The Roadster Car comes in black and yellow color with chunky tires, two mufflers, wide-sport-looking windshield, and easy-to-grab handles on both sides. The structure is small yet sophisticated. It contains an Antenna tower with a dish and collapse function and a base with a catapult. Kids can use the catapult to flip the car into the air and let the Antenna fall. The Lego set story is: General Zod plans to create chaos in the city of Metropolis and he is wrecking havoc in a downtown Showdown against Superman. General Zod’s intention is to smash Superman with collapsing Antenna tower. Superman needs to block the tower with the yellow-cool looking car and then it is all up to him to defend the city. Kids can use catapult to flip the car into the air and use cool function to collapse the Antenna as they reenact the epic battle between these two minifigures. And don’t take me to mean that I thought those days were better. Hardly. I’ll take a modern computer over our old Amiga any day. It’s just the basics of nostalgia – as much as we may pretend a lot of this was magical, it’s the nostalgia goggles tightened around the face. Much of our youth was just as mundane as our current existence, but since things have changed so much, it’s fun to think back to the way things were and try to recapture that lost experience. I’ve done it several times, actually – old Pokemon games, watching something I haven’t seen since I was a kid, or finding/buying old toys and putting them on display. And thus the Tandy Computer Whiz Kids bring us back to that older time… for those of us who were alive at that time… and marvel at how far we’ve come.
…They’re still the children of the damned, though.

RUMINATIONS: The Tandy Computer Whiz Kids: my constant excuse to let me ramble about being an old person who remembers old computer games and how back in my day we had 100-meg hard drives AND LIKED IT DAMN IT! Us and our Windows 95s and our Amigas and our Magic Pockets and our Bitmap Brothers and our modems and our wav files and our-
But yeah, is there anything really to say at this point when it comes to the Tandy Computer Whiz Kids that hasn’t been said already? Interesting to see a lesser-known villain like Major Disaster in this one. I wonder if Tandy had to approve these things and either didn’t care or was a DC fan already and thus didn’t mind using a lesser-known villain in the title.
Obviously since this episode I’ve gotten pretty much all the remaining Tandy Computer Whiz Kids comics and have gone through most of the rest of them.
Plus the Entity distortion is getting worse…

The climactic battle in that film caused tremendous collateral damage to Metropolis, including to an office of Bruce Wayne’s company, killing and injuring its staff, Wayne, the secret identity of Batman, accordingly harbors a grudge against Superman — while reporter Clark Kent, better known as Superman, has concerns about Batman’s righting wrongs outside the legal system....
this movie is a crime against comic book fans

In their place is a stink bucket of disappointment, a sad and unnecessary PG-13 orphan fight that director Zack Snyder believes is an homage to DC Comics' most iconic heroes, but is more along the lines of a home invasion perpetrated on comic book culture — save for one absolutely glorious moment that Snyder and friends may have accidentally lucked into....
