The U.S. Census Bureau has recently released a chart showing all the racial and ethnic designations it has used since the census began in 1790 through the last survey in 2010.
The racial profile in America has changed significantly throughout its history, and a recent graphic released by the U.S. Census Bureau shows just how much the terminology and attitudes have shifted.
According to the chart, when the census survey first began in 1790, there were three racial categories: slaves, free white females & males, and all other free persons.
Smithsonian.com reports that while ethnicities were not explicitly stated, slaves were generally considered to be of African descent.
As the years progressed, that label evolved into blacks and mulattos, then was re-termed negro and then black or negro in the 1900s, and, in 2010, was officially called black, African-American, or negro.
The year 1870 marked the first time people in the U.S. could identify themselves based on national origin--in this case, as Chinese.
Over time, the category expanded to include others of Asian descent.
While the term Mexican was an option in 1930, those of Latin or Spanish descent began getting their own category consistently in 1970 at the request of the White House.
Whites have been a designation in each census from 1790 to 2010.

NEW WHITE MINORITY - Ethnic Minorities Outnumber White Children in U.S Schools for the First Time
When stuck for anything insightful to say, politicians often waffle about how children are the future. They are right, of course. When the new school year begins this autumn, most children in public schools will, for the first time, be non-white, projects the Department of Education. America will not be majority-minority until 2043, says the Census Bureau, so schools give an early glimpse of what that might feel like. The answer is: not so very different. White children are still a majority in most schools. This is partly because blacks are so concentrated: in the northeast, now home to the country’s most segregated schools, more than half of African-American pupils sit in classrooms where at least 90% of children are from minorities. On the 60th anniversary of the desegregation of public schools “separate but equal” has, in many places, been replaced with equal but separate.
The United States has a racially and ethnically diverse population.[1] The census officially recognizes six ethnic and racial categories: White American, Native American and Alaska Native, Asian American, African American, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, and people of two or more races; a race called "Some other race" is also used in the census and other surveys, but is not official.[2][3][4] The United States Census Bureau also classifies Americans as "Hispanic or Latino" and "Not Hispanic or Latino", which identifies Hispanic and Latino Americans as a racially diverse ethnicity that composes the largest minority group in the nation.[2][3][5]
White Americans (non-Hispanic/Latino and Hispanic/Latino) are the racial majority, with a 72% share of the U.S. population, according to the 2010 U.S. Census.[6] Hispanic and Latino Americans amount to 15% of the population, making up the largest minority.[5] African Americans are the largest racial minority, amounting to nearly 13% of the population.[4][6] The White, non-Hispanic or Latino population, which includes also individuals from the Middle East and North Africa, make up 63% of the nation's total.[5]
55% of the African American population live in the South.[4] A plurality or majority of the other official groups reside in the West. This region is home to 42% of Hispanic and Latino Americans, 46% of Asian Americans, 48% of American Indians and Alaska Natives, 68% of Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders, 37% of the "two or more races" population (Multiracial Americans), and 46% of those designated "some other race".[4][7] u.s. california america usa "united states" school "high school" "los angeles" "southern california" education teacher demographics hispanic spanish teaching college university "american dream" elementary asia asian student students future historic poverty 2014 2015 work employment "u.s. citizenship" "u.s. citizen" immigration immigrate mexico "latin america" "south america" trends trending trendy uk "united kingdom" british "next generation" "back to school" "elite nwo agenda" "child care" louis farrakhan speech lindsey williams alex jones infowars rant gerald celente david icke coast to coast am we are change collapse g4t demcad prepper shtf mexico border illegal immigrants foodstamps welfare illegal alien
Ethnic minorities outnumber white children in U.S schools for the first time, as research shows Hispanics will have highest proportion of students in just 30 years
White students now make up 49.7% of the 50m in America’s state schools
There were 29.2million white students in 1997, dropping to 24.9m in 2014
Hispanic students projected to increase from 12.9m to 15.6m by 2023
For the first time, white students are now outnumbered by ethnic minorities in American state schools.
There were 29.2million white students in 1997, with this figure dropping to 24.9million in 2014, which still makes them the largest single ethnic group.
The U.S Department of Education predicts that by 2023, the number of white students enrolled in U.S public schools will have decreased to 23.5million, giving them a 45 per cent share of enrolment.

According to a US Census Bureau report, America will become a majority minority country. By the year 2060, the report is predicting that minorities will make up 57 percent of the population, but how will this shift in demographics affect the nation as a whole? Matthew Heimbach, founder of the White Student Union, gives us his take on the report.

U.S. Census data shows California's Hispanic population now outnumbers the white population.
Census population estimates released late last month showed that as of July 1, 2014, the state was home to roughly 14.99 million Hispanic residents compared to 14.92 million non-Hispanic white residents.
The shift makes California the third U.S. state to not have a white plurality, following New Mexico with its large Hispanic population and the predominantly Asian Hawaii.
According to census figures, the trend is occurring alongside nationwide growth in the Hispanic population.
The percentage of growth has risen from 12.5 to 17 percent since 2000.
Demographers and state officials have predicted for years that California Hispanics would begin to outstrip the white population for the first time since statehood between 2014 and 2015.

US Census Bureau Tagging GPS Coordinates of Your Front Door

Commerce Secretary Gary Locke recently told the Washington Post: "The census director reports to me, and, of course, I serve at the pleasure of the president." He added the White House told him "it has no interest in politicizing [the census]."
But at American Daily Review, blogger Douglas Gibbs had more than a few doubts.
"GPS coordinates of your front door will make it easier for the government to monitor you," he said. "The U.S. Census Bureau is simply an excuse a harmless looking means of obtaining the front door coordinates. The creation of GPS coordinates for front doors has nothing to do with the census, in all honesty, no matter how much the United States government tries to convince you that it does."
He recalled wondering why, just weeks ago, the Obama administration announced its oversight of the census, "literally taking control of the census away from the Commerce Department."
He put that together with Obama's longtime push for national service.
"The Obamites, thirsty to serve their new messianic figure, have lost enough of their objectivity to be willingly recruited into such an insidious program like gaining these coordinates for the U.S. government. I ask again, what would be the purpose of shooting the GPS coordinates of American doorways?" he wrote.
The answer he provided was alarming.
"Imagine, if you will, that there are a number of people in a neighborhood that could not find the addresses they are tasked with finding. They are not locals, maybe are unable to read a map, or perhaps do not have the time to pull out a map, and they need to find you with specific GPS coordinates. Their devices would lead them to your front door with these coordinates. Imagine a crisis is afoot, and martial law is put into place. U.S. troops need to round up particular folks," he wrote.
"Let's take this a step further. After all, with Barack Obama desiring to decrease the number of folks in the military, and with forces committed worldwide, we may not have sufficient military forces at home to deal with a rising national emergency. If the government decided to rely on foreign troops, perhaps United Nations personnel, most of which may not understand the street signs, much less know the lay of the land, they could use GPS devices to direct them to your front door," he wrote.

#WhiteGenocide: Fact or Fantasy? Looking at census.gov data from 1910, 1920, 2000, 2010

More and more we are becoming a nation shaped purely by politicians; men and woman with highly questionable agendas. Just as The College Board changes its S.A.T. format, thus making it impossible for a student from one test-group to compare their results to another’s, I found a similar thing applies with the U.S. census. Trying to discover what the “White” population was in 1910 vs. 2010 is no straightforward task. The numbers I calculated were arrived at “quick & dirty,” so to speak, so your results may vary.
I’m not sure which came first, Ramzpaul’s Jan. 23rd video,“A German Girl's Cry For Help,” or the Twitter-storm over Donald Trump’s retweet of a so-called Nazi’s tweet. Either way I’ve spent time this week on the entire concept of “White Genocide.” It’s no secret The Decline and Fall of Western Civilization has been on my mind a lot more since the so-called refugee crisis turned into a full blown invasion of Europe in early September. Looking over some stats from the U.S. Census of 1910, 1920, 2000, and 2010 gives me serious pause.

We the Indigenous peoples of the "Western Hemisphere" have been misrepresented all this time.
The United States CIA Fact Book stated in their website the brake down of Ethnicity of the United Mexican States [Mexico] as the following: mestizo (Amerindian-European) 60%, Amerindian or predominantly Amerindian 30%, white 9%, other 1% .
♦ Link https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/mx.htm
It's ironic that the U.S Census in the other hand reports the next results for the United States population.
white 79.96%, black 12.85%, Asian 4.43%, Amerindian and Alaska native 0.97%, native Hawaiian and other Pacific islander 0.18%, two or more races 1.61% (July 2007 estimate)
•note: a separate listing for "Hispanic" is not included because the US Census Bureau considers Hispanic to mean a person of Latin American descent (including persons of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin) living in the US who may be of any race or ethnic group (white, black, Asian, Amerindian.); about 15.1% of the total US population is Hispanic .
♦ Link https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html
This is Obviously wrong!
The term "Hispanic" contradicts with the fact that 90% of the migrant population coming from countries like Mexico and entering the United States without a doubt are of American Indian ancestry.
This video is an attempt to bring awareness to the denial of the right to self identify to Indigenous peoples of the "Western Hemisphere"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Updated 11/01/09
♦ RACE: a recent idea created by western Europeans following exploration across the world to account for differences among people and justify colonization, conquest, enslavement, and social hierarchy among humans. The term is used to refer to groupings of people according to common origin or background and associated with perceived biological markers. Among humans there are no races except the human race. In biology, the term has limited use, usually associated with organisms or populations that are able to interbreed. Ideas about race are culturally and socially transmitted and form the basis of racism, racial classification and often complex racial identities.

♦Indigenous immigrants to be counted in 2010 Census♦

For most people, describing themselves on the U.S. Census form will be as easy as checking a box: White. Black. American Indian.
But it's not so simple for indigenous immigrants - the Native Americans of Mexico and Central America. They often need more than one box because their ancestry can cover multiple Census categories, and they must also overcome a significant language barrier and a mistrust of government.
The Census Bureau wants to change that in the 2010 count as it tallies immigrant indigenous groups for the first time ever, hoping to get a more complete snapshot of a growing segment of the immigrant population.
In the 2010 Census, the bureau will tabulate handwritten entries specifying that the respondent belongs to a Central American indigenous group such Maya, Nahua, Mixtec, or Purepecha. The list of different populations that end up being counted will be made public when results are released in 2011, said Michele Lowe, spokeswoman for the Census Bureau.
"We're always striving to present an accurate portrait of the American people, and this is part of that effort," said Lowe.
An accurate count is important to the indigenous groups themselves, and to the federal government, which allocates resources to state and local government according to the results.

This report takes a look at the changes happening in the US population owing to immigration and a comparative aging of the white population. Professor William Frey who is an expert on US population says that based on the US census of 2010 white Americans, although still a majority, will soon be a minority in the US population. He names an aging of the whites as well as a lower fertility of white women compared to most other groups as the main reasons for a decline in the numbers of whites from seventy to sixty five percent of the total population. Professor Frey also elaborates on how the US population benefited from immigration over the last decade by, for example, only Hispanics contributing more than half of all the growth. He says that, although, little slower than that in the previous decades, the growth of US population was still healthy. Because of comparatively cheaper living and better employment opportunities States of the South East and West of the US showed the most gain in numbers. DR Frey agrees that lower skill and education levels of the majority of the Hispanic immigrants will pose a challenge but that this challenge can be transformed into an opportunity for the future of US by providing equal opportunities in particular to those young immigrants whose parents are less educated.

How America Is Changing: Demographics, Social, Economic & Political Consequences (1994)

As of January 3, 2015, the United States has a total resident population of 320,064,285, making it the third-most populous country in the world. It is very urbanized, with 81% residing in cities and suburbs as of 2014 (the worldwide urban rate is 54%). California and Texas are the most populous states, as the mean center of U.S. population has consistently shifted westward and southward. New York City is the most populous city in the United States.
The total fertility rate in the United States estimated for 2013 is 1.87 children per woman, which is below the replacement fertility rate of approximately 2.1. Compared to other Western countries, in 2012, U.S. fertility rate was lower than that of France (2.01), Australia (1.93) and the United Kingdom (1.92). However, U.S. population growth is among the highest in industrialized countries, because the differences in fertility rates are less than the differences in immigration levels, which are higher in the U.S. The United States Census Bureau shows population increase of 0.75% for the twelve-month period ending in July 2012. Though high by industrialized country standards, this is below the world average annual rate of 1.1%.[9]
There were over 158.6 million females in the United States in 2009. The number of males was 151.4 million. At age 85 and older, there were more than twice as many women as men. People under 20 years of age made up over a quarter of the U.S. population (27.3%), and people age 65 and over made up one-eighth (12.8%) in 2009.[12] The national median age was 36.8 years.[12]
The United States Census Bureau defines White people as those "having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. It includes people who reported "White" or wrote in entries such as Irish, German, Italian, Lebanese, Near Easterner, Arab, or Polish."[13] Whites constitute the majority of the U.S. population, with a total of about 245,532,000 or 77.7% of the population as of 2013. There are 62.6% Whites when Hispanics who describe themselves as "white" are taken out of the calculation. Despite major changes due to illegal and legal immigration since the 1960s and the higher birth-rates of nonwhites, the overall current majority of American citizens are still white, and English-speaking, though regional differences exist.
The American population almost quadrupled during the 20th century—at a growth rate of about 1.3% a year—from about 76 million in 1900 to 281 million in 2000. It reached the 200 million mark in 1968, and the 300 million mark on October 17, 2006.[14][15] Population growth is fastest among minorities as a whole, and according to the Census Bureau's estimation for 2012, 50.4% of American children under the age of 1 belonged to minority groups.[16]
Hispanic and Latino Americans accounted for 48% of the national population growth of 2.9 million between July 1, 2005, and July 1, 2006.[17] Immigrants and their U.S.-born descendants are expected to provide most of the U.S. population gains in the decades ahead.[18]
The Census Bureau projects a U.S. population of 439 million in 2050, which is a 46% increase from 2007 (301.3 million).[19] However, the United Nations projects a U.S. population of 402 million in 2050, an increase of 32% from 2007 .[20] In either case, such growth is unlike most European countries, especially Germany, and Greece, or Asian countries such as Japan or South Korea, whose populations are slowly declining, and whose fertility rates are below replacement. Official census report, reported that 54.4% (2,150,926 out of 3,953,593) of births in 2010, were non-Hispanic white. This represents an increase of 0.34% compared to the previous year, which was 54.06%.

Former director of the U.S. Census and Columbia University professor, Kenneth Prewitt talks with Ronnie Eldridge about the history of the census and the significance of the numbers reported every 10 years. Of particular concern is the reliance - in the 21st century - on archaic and discredited 18th century science based on the "five races" white, black, red, yellow, brown. In "What Is Your Race," Prof. Prewitt shows why the way we count by race is flawed. (Taped: 09/16/13)
Ronnie M. Eldridge, articulate, outspoken, and passionate member of the New York City Council from 1989 to 2001, hosts this series which covers the issues and institutions, the people and politics of New York City.

BLACK WOMEN & WHITE MEN

I'll give my 2 cents about black people and politics tomorrow

TELL ME IF THIS MAKES SENSE - Especially the last paragraph
In the US, 90% of black women married are married to black men so what is the hoopla about black men marrying white women and not wanting to marry black women?
That might sound like an impressive statistic except that black women are the least likely to be married. In other words, 90% is just 90% of a small number of black women who do get to be married. To buttress this fact, black men have the lowest marriage rates in the US and within that low number a significant slice is actually interracial!
What are some of the choices that black men are making that shows they are not in the mind of advancing the race?
--------------------
That black men are not in the mind of their community's advancement comes through in the simple observation of the choices black men make and their actions.
When black women are left to raise black families with minimum effort from black men, the fact that black women in the West are the least likely to be married, the rampant colorism and selecting of black women favoring lighter skin and discriminating against black skin etc, then we are clearly left with the conclusion that black men do not seem in the mind of pushing forward their race to any great extent.
-------
Producing the same LIGHT SKIN female that you DON'T LIKE.
Also I wonder if these women with colorism issues would feel if their BIRACIAL SON - brought a white girl home? Would it bother them.
I already know of women who have raised their sons to be WEAK - and who are completely unprepared to DEAL with black women - who said they would be devastated if their son were to bring a white girl home, since they are so conscious, pro-black, and believe that BLACK MEN are the main issue and that black women have little to no part.
OK - what's to be said about your son - are you going to label him self hating?
-----------
NOTICE HOW THE WOMEN KEEP THEIR 1,000 - but black men's numbers are subtracted from. So I guess all 1,000 of those women are wife material, attractive, childless, and overall quality?
-------------------
Why do you promote Interracial Dating?
BWE/IR writers have a number of reasons why they advocate black women availing themselves of their broader dating options. Firstly it is for practical reasons of shortfall of black men. According to recent U.S. Census Bureau figures, there are only 70 single black men for every 100 single black women. This number does not take into account the number of black men artificially excluded from the dating pool because of such factors as incarceration.
In cities like Atlanta the situation is even more dire:
the ratio of Black men to Black women is 597 men for every 1,000 women nearly 2-1.
When Black male employment is thrown in, the figures shrink to
279 eligibles for every 1,000 Black women.

I Think Lydia is fine as shit! (Yes I know she has a kid) doesn't make her less attractive - it just puts her further in the back of the "I want to get with you" line.

This is a 20 minute clip from the much longer documentary "Black Confederates : The Forgotten Men In Gray." Check the United States Census records from the very same year Lincoln was elected in 1860 for starters, if you want to see REAL history and how rich white and blacks in the south and north BOTH owned slaves !! Obviously this makes most public education complete LIES about the slavery era of AmeriKan history. Only about 5 % of white people were ever rich enough to own slaves, and less than that for black people, so please do NOT be some "politically correct" fool person who thinks that every southerner owned slaves !!
***** Note also that there were more WHITE SLAVES in AmeriKa during the 1600's and Africans NEVER became the majority of slaves here until later in the 1700 and 1800's. This is 100 % ABSOLUTE FACT, the "history" books cover it up by calling the white slave era "indentured servitude." *******

CASAR organized a lecture presented by Dr. David Kazanjian on April 30, 2013.In this talk, the speaker argues that certain historicist hermeneutics popular in American Studies have inhibited our ability to read the speculative thought that emerges from the quotidian archives of the 19th-century Atlantic world. He makes a case for what is often called "over-reading" those archives, in the interest of generating heterodox perspectives on the meaning of freedom from a century that is often understood to be in the thrall of classical liberalism. This talk draws on the third part of the speaker's forthcoming book, The Brink of Freedom, in which he asks what and how did freedom mean in the midst of three relatively unheralded and heterodox historical and textual flashpoints from the mid 19th-century Atlantic world: first, the black settler colonization of Liberia between 1820 and 1860; second, debates about the relationship between race and insanity in the U.S. census of 1840 and the Creole slave ship uprising of 1841; and third, a massive Maya uprising on the Yucatán peninsula that began in 1847 and came to be known as la Guerra de Castas, the Caste War.
David Kazanjian received his PhD from the Rhetoric Department at the University of California, Berkeley, his M.A. in Critical Theory from the University of Sussex, and his B.A. in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University. His area of specialization is transnational American literary and historical studies through the nineteenth century. His additional fields of research are political philosophy, continental philosophy, Latin American studies (especially nineteenth-century Mexico), colonial discourse studies, and Armenian diaspora studies. His book The Colonizing Trick: National Culture and Imperial Citizenship in Early America (Minnesota) offers a comparative study of colonial and antebellum, racial and national formations, and a critique of the formal egalitarianism that animated early U.S. citizenship. He has co-edited (with David L. Eng) Loss: The Politics of Mourning (California), as well as (with Shay Brawn, Bonnie Dow, Lisa Maria Hogeland, Mary Klages, Deb Meem, and Rhonda Pettit) The Aunt Lute Anthology of U.S. Women Writers, Volume One: Seventeenth through Nineteenth Centuries (Aunt Lute Books). He has also published widely on the cultural politics of the North American-Armenian diaspora, and has participated in the Blind Dates Project (www.blinddatesproject.org), an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration among contemporary artists and intellectuals with ties to the legacies of the Ottoman Empire, curated by Defne Ayas and Neery Melkonian. He is currently completing The Brink of Freedom: Improvising Life in the Nineteenth-Century Atlantic World, a study of three nineteenth-century social movements (immigration to Liberia; race and insanity in the 1840 US census and the Creole slave ship revolt; and the Caste War of Yucatán) that improvised with the discourse and practice of freedom.

Race and ethnicity in the United States Census, defined by the federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the United States Census Bureau, are self-identification data items in which residents choose the race or races with which they most closely identify, and indicate whether or not they are of Hispanic or Latino origin (the only categories for ethnicity).
The racial categories represent a social-political construct for the race or races that respondents consider themselves to be and "generally reflect a social definition of race recognized in this country." OMB defines the concept of race as outlined for the US Census as not "scientific or anthropological" and takes into account "social and cultural characteristics as well as ancestry", using "appropriate scientific methodologies" that are not "primarily biological or genetic in reference." The race categories include both racial and national-origin groups.

Politics of the U.S. Census - In this segment, Black Feminist Women ask: Do you believe the data collected today is used to benefit blacks (education and medical care) or is it used for some other not so obvious reasons?
In this discussion, members focus on "Chapter 6 – Diagnosis: Freedom: The Civil War, Emancipation, and Fin de Siècle Medical Research," of our text, "Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present,” by Harriet A. Washington. Venita Goines Walker was the evening’s moderator. She was joined by co-hosts Randie Henderson and L. Michelle Odom, and members Geo Moses, Kim Brandon, Dawn Brawley and Edwina Marchenko.
Summary:
“Chapter 6 – Diagnosis: Freedom: The Civil War, Emancipation, and Fin de Siècle Medical Research,” takes a look at how statistical data and medical research were manipulated to prove Black inferiority, from the mid-1800s to the early days of the 1900s – a tendency, the author notes, that persists to this day.
Washington reviews events surrounding the census of 1840, which identified a high number of mentally ill Black people, but was filled with many errors and intentional falsehoods. Used to bolster support for slavery during its dying days, the analysis was used to demonstrate blacks were not capable of managing the demands of freedom, but were uniquely qualified to endure the harsh conditions of slavery.
Equally harsh conditions plagued Black people during the Emancipation era, and disease and death were rampant.
By the turn of the century, the tune had changed dramatically, as Blacks were then judged too diseased, weak and feeble-minded to survive, and many ventured to predict African Americans would be extinct by the year 2000. These attitudes now lent support to the idea that proper medical care, housing and nutrition would be wasted on this dying population.
In the face of this attitude of neglect, Black doctors such as Daniel Hale Williams, Alonzo McClennan and Matilda Evans opened inadequately resourced hospitals in the late 1800s and early 1900s, in valiant attempts to meet overwhelming needs.

How Our Judicial System Works: The Views of Leading African-American Judges (1995)
Incarceration in the United States of America is one of the main forms of punishment, rehabilitation, or both for the commission of felony and other offenses. T...
Incarceration in the United States of America is one of the main forms of punishment, rehabilitation, or both for the commission of felony and other offenses. The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate in the world. At year-end 2009, it was 743 adults incarcerated per 100,000 population.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), 2,266,800 adults were incarcerated in U.S. federal and state prisons, and county jails at year-end 2011 -- about 0.7% of adults in the U.S. resident population. Additionally, 4,814,200 adults at year-end 2011 were on probation or on parole. In total, 6,977,700 adults were under correctional supervision (probation, parole, jail, or prison) in 2011 -- about 2.9% of adults in the U.S. resident population.
In addition, there were 70,792 juveniles in juvenile detention in 2010.
Although debtor's prisons no longer exist in the United States, residents of some U.S. states can still be incarcerated for debt as of 2011.
According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) non-Hispanic blacks accounted for 39.4% of the total prison and jail population in 2009 (841,000 black males and 64,800 black females out of a total of 2,096,300 males and 201,200 females). According to the 2010 census of the US Census Bureau blacks (including Hispanic blacks) comprised 13.6% of the US population.
Hispanics (of all races) were 20.6% of the total jail and prison population in 2009. Hispanics comprised 16.3% of the US population according to the 2010 US census. The Northeast has the highest incarceration rates of Hispanics in the nation. Connecticut has the highest Hispanic-to-White incarceration ratio with 6.6 Hispanic males for every white male. The National Average Hispanic-to-White incarceration ratio is 1.8. Other states with high Hispanic-to-White incarceratios include Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New York.
As the Hispanic community is not monolithic, variations are seen in incarceration rates. Among the Hispanic community, Puerto Ricans have the highest incarceration rate. Located primarily in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states, they are up to six times more likely to be incarcerated than whites, which may explain the higher incarceration rates for Hispanics overall in the Northeast region. Illegal immigrants, usually Mexican nationals, also make up a substantial number of Hispanics incarcerated.
In 2010 black non-Hispanic males were incarcerated at the rate of 4,347 inmates per 100,000 U.S. residents of the same race and gender. White males were incarcerated at the rate of 678 inmates per 100,000 U.S. residents. Hispanic males were incarcerated at the rate of 1,755 inmates per 100,000 U.S. residents. Asian Americans, however, have lower incarceration rates than any other racial group, including whites.
Black majority cities have similar crime statistics for blacks as do cities where majority of population is white. For example, white-majority San Diego has a slightly lower crime rate for blacks than does Atlanta, a city which has black majority in population and city government.
In 2013, by age 18, 30% of black males, 26% of Hispanic males, and 22% of white males have been arrested. By age 23, 49% of black males, 44% of Hispanic males, and 38% of white males have been arrested.

Racial disparities in convictions and sentencing in the United States criminal justice system have been widely documented. Experts and analysts have debated the relative importance of different factors that have led to these disparities. Minority defendants are charged with crimes requiring a mandatory minimum prison sentence more often, leading to large racial disparities in incarceration.

wn.com/How Our Judicial System Works The Views Of Leading African American Judges (1995)
White males were incarcerated at the rate of 678 inmates per 100,000 U.S. residents. Hispanic males were incarcerated at the rate of 1,755 inmates per 100,000 U.S. residents. Slavery in the United States began soon after English colonists first settled Virginia in 1607 and lasted as a legal institution until the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1865. It continues illegally to this day.
Before the widespread establishment of chattel slavery, much labor was organized under a system of bonded labor known as indentured servitude. This typically lasted for several years for white and black alike, and it was a means of using labor to pay the costs of transporting people to the colonies. By the 18th century, court rulings established the racial basis of the American incarnation of slavery to apply chiefly to Black Africans and people of African descent, and occasionally to Native Americans. A 1705 Virginia law stated slavery would apply to those peoples from nations that were not Christian. In part because of the success of tobacco as a cash crop in the Southern colonies, its labor-intensive character caused planters to import more slaves for labor by the end of the 17th century than did the northern colonies. The South had a significantly higher number and proportion of slaves in the population. Religious differences contributed to this geographic disparity as well.
From 1654 until 1865, slavery for life was legal within the boundaries of much of the present United States. Most slaves were black and were held by whites, although some Native Americans and free blacks also held slaves; there were a small number of white slaves as well. The majority of slave holding was in the southern United States where most slaves were engaged in an efficient machine-like gang system of agriculture. According to the 1860 U.S. census, nearly four million slaves were held in a total population of just over 12 million in the 15 states in which slavery was legal. Of all 8,289,782 free persons in the 15 slave states, 393,967 people (4.8%) held slaves, with the average number of slaves held by any single owner being 10. The majority of slaves were held by planters, defined by historians as those who held 20 or more slaves.Ninety-five percent of black people lived in the South, comprising one-third of the population there, as opposed to 2% of the population of the North. The wealth of the United States in the first half of the 19th century was greatly enhanced by the labor of African Americans.
But with the Union victory in the American Civil War, the slave-labor system was abolished in the South. This contributed to the decline of the postbellum Southern economy, but it was most affected by the continuing decline in the price of cotton through the end of the century. That made it difficult for the region to recover from the war, as did its comparative lack of infrastructure, which kept products from markets. The South faced significant new competition from foreign cotton producers such as India and Egypt. Northern industry, which had expanded rapidly before and during the war, surged even further ahead of the South's agricultural economy. Industrialists from northeastern states came to dominate many aspects of the nation's life, including social and some aspects of political affairs. The planter class of the South lost power temporarily. The rapid economic development following the Civil War accelerated the development of the modern U.S. industrial economy.
Twelve million Africans were shipped to the Americas from the 16th to the 19th centuries Of these, an estimated 645,000 were brought to what is now the United States. The largest number were shipped to Brazil. The slave population in the United States had grown to four million by the 1860 Census.

Should Reparations Be Paid to the Descendants of Slaves? Christopher Hitchens Debate (2001)

Reparations for slavery is a proposal that some type of compensation should be provided to the descendants of enslaved people in the United States, in consideration of the coerced and uncompensated labor their ancestors performed over centuries. This compensation has been proposed in a variety of forms, from individual monetary payments to land-based compensation schemes related to independence. The idea remains highly controversial and no broad consensus exists as to how it could be implemented. There have been similar calls for reparations from some Caribbean countries and elsewhere in the African diaspora, and some African countries have called for reparations to their states for the loss of their population.
Some proposals have called for direct payments from the U.S. government. One such proposal delivered in the McCormick Convention Center conference room for the first National Reparations Convention by Howshua Amariel, a Chicago social activist, would require the federal government to make reparations to proven descendants of slaves. In addition, Amariel stated "For those blacks who wish to remain in America, they should receive reparations in the form of free education, free medical, free legal and free financial aid for 50 years with no taxes levied," and "For those desiring to leave America, every black person would receive a million dollars or more, backed by gold, in reparation." At the convention Amariel's proposal received approval from the 100 or so participants, nevertheless the question of who would receive such payments, who should pay them and in what amount, has remained highly controversial, since the United States Census does not track descent from slaves or slave owners and relies on self-reported racial categories.
Various estimates have been given if such payments were to be made. Harper's Magazine has created an estimate that the total of reparations due is over 100 trillion dollars, based on 222,505,049 hours of forced labor between 1619 and 1865, with a compounded interest of 6%. Should all or part of this amount be paid to the descendants of slaves in the United States, the current U.S. government would only pay a fraction of that cost, over 40 trillion dollars, since it has been in existence only since 1789.
The Rev. M.J. Divine, better known as Father Divine, was one of the earliest leaders to argue clearly for "retroactive compensation" and the message was spread via International Peace Mission publications. On July 28, 1951, Father Divine issued a "peace stamp" bearing the text: "Peace! All nations and peoples who have suppressed and oppressed the under-privileged, they will be obliged to pay the African slaves and their descendants for all uncompensated servitude and for all unjust compensation, whereby they have been unjustly deprived of compensation on the account of previous condition of servitude and the present condition of servitude. This is to be accomplished in the defense of all other under-privileged subjects and must be paid retroactive up-to-date".
On July 30, 2008, the United States House of Representatives passed a resolution apologizing for American slavery and subsequent discriminatory laws.
Some states have also apologized for slavery, including Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. Duke University public policy professor William "Sandy" Darity said such apologies are a first step, but compensation is also necessary.
In April 2010, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates in a New York Times editorial advised reparations activists to consider the African role in the slave trade in regards to who should shoulder the cost of reparations.

The very act of filling out a Census Bureau form is a violation of your Fifth Amendment rights, by the way. Providing this bureau with your race / ancestry information gives them information that may be used to round you up at gunpoint and have you (and your family) sent to a concentration camp.
That's not conjecture. It's not a conspiracy theory. It's historical fact. The U.S. Census Bureau did, in fact, conspire with the federal government to target American citizens based on race data.
• Over 100,000 Japanese-American citizens were rounded up at gunpoint, kidnapped by the government, and forcibly relocated to these concentration camps. They were forced to abandon their homes, farms and businesses.
• This rounding up of Japanese-American citizens was "authorized" by President Franklin D. Roosevelt who bypassed Congress and issued Executive Order 9066 on February 19, 1942. The executive order was written and carried out in total violation of the U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights.
• The legal loophole that was used to justify this blatantly illegal act is as follows: Military commanders were granted the "administrative right" to declare entire states to be "exclusion zones" from which people of Japanese ancestry were excluded. The internment camps were, of course, not included in the exclusion zones, meaning that all Japanese-Americans were forced to be put into the internment camps in order to comply with the exclusive zone orders. This action, by the way, is the ultimately expression of race-based profiling.
• No one was given a trial. No charges were even filed against those who were forced into the camps. They were simply rounded up at gunpoint and shoved into railroad cars and busses.
• The U.S. government issued shameless propaganda films to spread disinfo about its illegal actions. Here's a particularly shocking example of such propaganda from 1942:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OiPldKsM5w
That film, as you can see for yourself, describes the gunpoint kidnapping and internment of American citizens as nothing more than a need "to transfer several thousand Japanese residents from the Pacific Coast to points in the American interior." It does not mention that those points are surrounded by barbed war and armed guards, where prisoners are forced into what is essentially slave labor just to survive.
• How were all those Japanese-American citizens located by the government? The U.S. Census Bureau turned over the racial targeting data to the federal government. So anyone who obeyed the census and revealed "Japanese" as their ancestry on the census forms received a visit by an armed squad of government kidnappers who forced you and your family into a concentration camp ("war relocation camp").
• The U.S. Census Bureau vigorously denied its involvement in the government kidnappings, staging a multi-decade cover-up. The truth finally came out in 2007, and detailed are now published in both Scientific American and USA Today http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-03-30-census-role_N.htm
The Census Bureau turned over confidential information including names and addresses to help the Justice Department, Secret Service and other agencies identify Japanese-Americans during World War II, according to government documents released today.
Documents found by two historians in Commerce Department archives and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library confirm for the first time that the bureau shared details about individual Japanese-Americans after Japan's Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Census Bureau played a role in the confinement of more than 100,000 Americans of Japanese descent who were rounded up and held in internment camps, many until the war ended in 1945. In 1942, the Census turned over general statistics about where Japanese-Americans lived to the War Department.
Astonishingly, the U.S. Census Bureau, which participated in the racial profiling and rounding up of innocent Americans to be thrown into concentration camps, claims it works on behalf of civil rights:
"Information on race is required for many Federal programs and is critical in making policy decisions, particularly for civil rights" claims the Census Bureau website http://www.census.gov/population/race/about/faq.html
The Census Bureau does NOT say, by the way, that the race data you provide to the bureau may one day be used to target you and your family to be rounded up and stuffed into a concentration camp http://www.infowars.com/u-s-census-bureau-helped-racially-target-thousands-of-american-citizens-for-armed-government-kidnappings-camp-internments/
