Governor John Connally Did Not Shoot JFK. Or Did He?
John Connally shot JFK when he was hidden from Zapruder by the Stemmons sign. Connally used a poison gun of some kind, and fired it through his own jacket at JFK. John Bowen Connally served as Texas Governor from 1963-1969. In November 1963, Connally was seriously wounded while riding in President Kennedy's car in Dallas when the president was assassinated. In 1971, Republican President Nixon appointed the then Democrat Connally as Treasury Secretary. Connally stepped down as treasury secretary in 1972 to head "Democrats for Nixon", a group funded by Republicans. Connally's old mentor, Lyndon Johnson, stood behind Democratic presidential nominee George S. McGovern of South Dakota, although McGovern had long opposed Johnson's foreign and defense policies. In May 1973, Connally joined the Republican Party. Connally announced in January 1979 that he would seek the Republican nomination for President in 1980.

Vincent Palamara was born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Duquesne University with a degree in Sociology.
Although not even born when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Vince brings fresh eyes to an old case. In fact, Vince would go on to study the largely overlooked actions - and inactions - of the United States Secret Service in unprecedented detail, as well as achieving a world's record in the process, having interviewed and corresponded with over seventy former agents (the House Select Committee on Assassinations had the old record of 46 with a 6 million dollar budget and supboena power from Congress), not to mention many surviving family members, White House aides, and even quite a few Parkland and Bethesda medical witnesses for a corresponding project. The result was Survivor's Guilt; The Secret Service & The Failure To Protect The President, a very successful self-published book that sold thousands of copies in the 1990's before becoming a free online e-book in 2006.
In addition, the aforementioned corresponding project on the John F. Kennedy assassination medical evidence, JFK: The Medical Evidence Reference, Vince's second book, although almost an afterthought to Vince's main area of research, still sold hundreds of copies and was favorably mentioned in books by William Law, R. Andrew Kiel, James Fetzer, and even Vince Bugliosi. Like his first book, Vince's medical evidence tome became a free online e-book in 2006.
All told, Vince has been favorably mentioned in over 50 JFK and Secret Service related books to date (including two whole chapters in Murder in Dealey Plaza, The Secret Service: The Hidden History Of An Enigmatic Agency by Philip Melanson, and the Final Report of the Assassination Records Review Board, among many others), often at length, in the bibliographies, and in the Secret Service - and even medical evidence - areas of these works.
Vince has appeared on the History Channel, local cable access television, YouTube, radio, newspapers, print journals, at national conferences, and all over the internet. Also, Vince's original research materials, or copies of said materials, are stored in the National Archives (by request under Deed Of Gift by the ARRB), the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, Harvard University, the Assassination Archives and Research Center, and the Dallas Public Library.
Vince Palamara has become known (as he was dubbed by the History Channel in 2003) "the Secret Service expert." As former JFK Secret Service agent Joe Paolella proclaimed: "You seem to know a lot about the Secret Service, maybe even more than I do," while fellow JFK Secret Service agent Chuck Zboril stated: "You might be helpful to the official Secret Service historian who works out of Washington!"

John Connally shot JFK when he was hidden from Zapruder by the Stemmons sign. Connally used a poison gun of some kind, and fired it through his own jacket at JFK. When he is coming out from behind the sign, he can be seen taking the gun out of his jacket and ditching it on the floor. This video was made before I realized that, but I'll leave it up anyway, until I can incorporate what value it has into a new video.
I'll have to remake this video.

White House Telephone
President Richard Nixon talks to his Secretary of the Treasury, John Connally, about the international monetary situation and the elimination of the Gold Standard for US currency. They specifically mention the Canadians (and Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau) and Europeans, as well as Nixon administration officials George Shultz, Herbert Klein, and Arthur Burns. Also, they talk about playing a little game with Henry Kissinger over aid to India. At the end, Nixon jokes with Connally about the issue of busing (which Connally opposes).

According to witnesses, the shooting began shortly after the limousine made the turn from Houston onto Elm Street. Most of these witnesses recalled the first shot happened after the president had started waving with his right hand. Most of these witnesses recalled hearing three shots, with the second and third shots bunched distinctly much closer together than the first and second shots. As seen in the Zapruder film, when the president first emerges from being temporarily behind the Stemmons Freeway sign at Zapruder film frame 224 to 225 his mouth is widely open in a shocked expression and his hands clench into fists, then he quickly raises his arms dramatically in front of his face and throat as he turned leftwards towards his wife. Secret Service Agent Clint Hill testified that he heard one shot, then jumped off the running board of the Secret Service follow-up car directly behind Kennedy (Hill was filmed jumping off his follow-up car at the equivalent of Zapruder frame 308; about a quarter of a second before the president's head exploded at frame 313). Hill then rapidly ran towards the Presidential limo and then a shot hit Kennedy in the head, opening up the right side of his head. As the limousine began speeding up, Mrs. Kennedy was heard to scream[21] and she climbed out of the back seat onto the rear of the limo. At the same time, Hill managed to climb aboard and hang onto the suddenly accelerating limo, and Mrs. Kennedy returned to the back seat. Hill then shielded her and the President. Both of the Connallys stated they heard Mrs. Kennedy say, "I have his brains in my hand!" The limo driver and police motorcycles turned on their sirens and raced at full speed to Parkland Hospital, passing their intended destination of the Dallas Trade Mart along the way, and arriving at about 12:38 pm.
During the shots Governor Connally was also struck, and his wife pulled him closer to her. He suffered several severe wounds that he survived; a bullet entry wound in his upper right back located just behind his right armpit; four inches of his right, fifth chest rib was pulverised; a two-and-a-half inch sized chest exit wound; his right arm's wrist bone was fractured into seven pieces; and he had a bullet entry wound in his left inner thigh. Although there is controversy about exactly when he was wounded, analysts from both the Warren Commission (1964) and House Select Committee on Assassinations (1979) believed that his wounds had been inflicted nearly simultaneously with President Kennedy's in their theories that the two men were struck by a single bullet. The Commission theorized both men were hit nearly simultaneously between Zapruder film frames 210 to 225, while the Committee theorized it happened at frame 190.
During the shots a witness, James Tague, was also wounded when he received a minor facial wound on his right cheek. The Main Street south curb he had been standing 23.5 feet away from was struck by a bullet or bullet fragment that had no copper sheath, and the richocheting bullet fragment struck Tague. At Zapruder frame 313 Tague's head top was located 271 feet away from and 16.4 feet below President Kennedy's head top. The bullet or bullet fragment that struck the cement curb was never found.

Dr. Robert R. Shaw, Connally’s attending physician, said the Governor ‘’seems to have been struck by just one bullet, which entered the back of his chest and moved outward, taking out and fragmenting a portion of a rib. The bullet is still in the leg. It hasn’t been removed. This is very insignificant. There is no injury to the left thigh.’’
Texas Governor John B. Connally was primarily treated by Parkland surgeons Robert Shaw, Charles Gregory, Richard Dulany and Tom Shires. A bullet had entered the governor's back, just to the left of his right armpit. It fractured his fifth rib, lacerating the right lung and leaving a large wound below the right nipple. Small bone fragments that had blown into his lung caused further complications. Surgeons repaired the governor's chest and the broken radius bone in his right wrist. They also treated a superficial wound in his left thigh approximately six inches above the knee.

Part 1 of Nellie Connally's 6 part interview on the Larry King Live show in 2003 to promote her book that she wrote for her grandchildren, 'From Love Field, Our Final Hours With President John F. Kennedy'.
In the interview Nellie disclosed that John Connally's cufflink had been shot off his right wrist during the ambush & was not recovered at Parkland hospital, that she believed John Connally eventually died as a result of the horrific wounds he suffered in the ambush of President Kennedy & that President Kennedy appeared 'dead' to her when she glanced at him after hearing the 1st shot. She also describes the scene at Parkland hospital when both JFK & Lee Oswald were pronounced dead.
Nellie's eyewitness account differed from what her husband remembered of the ambush (see John Connally Parkland hospital bed interview, 27 November 1963, posted on YouTube) and has been argued over by JFK investigators & researchers for decades; some used it to support the 'magic bullet theory' while others used it to debunk that theory. Similar to Jackie Kennedy, Nellie Connally came within inches of being a gunshot victim herself, regardless of any direction gunfire originated from during the ambush.
None of the interviewers Nellie spoke with the years after the assassination & before her death ever invited her back to Dealey Plaza & asked her where exactly the JFK parade car was located on Elm Street when she heard each of the shots, if the Zapruder film accurately depicts what she experienced or if gunfire originated from inside the JFK parade car or the SS follow-up car behind it.
Nellie Connally is remembered as a pretty, courageous & graceful woman who stood by her husband though good times & bad until he died. Nellie never believed one bullet struck President Kennedy & John Connally at the same time.
Contrary to comments made by the Sixth Floor Museum curator, Mr. Zapruder, his receptionist, Marilyn Sitzman & TV reporter Dan Rather all reported in interviews that the Zapruder filming began as JFK's parade car was about to turn onto Elm Street; a scene missing from the Zapruder film. Eyewitnesses, police & spectator responses also indicated gunfire originating from the North grassy knoll area.

Part 3 of Nellie Connally's 6 part interview on the Larry King Live show in 2003 to promote her book that she wrote for her grandchildren, 'From Love Field, Our Final Hours With President John F. Kennedy'.
In the interview Nellie disclosed that John Connally's cufflink had been shot off his right wrist during the ambush & was not recovered at Parkland hospital, that she believed John Connally eventually died as a result of the horrific wounds he suffered in the ambush of President Kennedy & that President Kennedy appeared dead to her when she glanced at him after hearing the 1st shot.

JFK's Secret Service Agents Break Their Silence: Interview - John F. Kennedy Assassination (2010)

Sgt. Davis, of the Dallas Police Department, believed he had prepared stringent security precautions, in an attempt to prevent demonstrations like those marking the Adlai Stevenson visit from happening again. The previous month, Stevenson, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, was assaulted by an anti-UN demonstrator. But Winston Lawson of the Secret Service, who was in charge of the planning, told the Dallas Police not to assign its usual squad of experienced homicide detectives to follow immediately behind the President's car. This police protection was routine for both visiting presidents and for motorcades of other visiting dignitaries. Police Chief Jesse Curry later testified that had his men been in place, they might have been able to stop the assassin before he fired a second shot, because they carried submachine guns and rifles.[104]
An investigation by the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) in 1979 concluded that "the Secret Service was deficient in the performance of its duties."[105] The HSCA stated:
That President Kennedy had not received adequate protection in Dallas.
That the Secret Service possessed information that was not properly analyzed, investigated, or used by the Secret Service in connection with the President's trip to Dallas.
That the Secret Service agents in the motorcade were inadequately prepared to protect the President from a sniper.[106]
The HSCA specifically noted:
No actions were taken by the agent in the right front seat of the Presidential limousine [ Roy Kellerman ] to cover the President with his body, although it would have been consistent with Secret Service procedure for him to have done so. The primary function of the agent was to remain at all times in close proximity to the President in the event of such emergencies.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_John_F._Kennedy
Clinton J. Hill (born 1932) is a former United States Secret Service agent who was in the presidential motorcade during the assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. After Kennedy was fatally shot, Hill ran from the car immediately behind the presidential limousine and leapt onto the back of it, holding on while the car raced to Parkland Memorial Hospital. This action was documented in the famous Zapruder film. Hill is the last surviving passenger of the presidential limousine which arrived at Parkland Hospital.
Hill was born and raised in North Dakota.[1] His birth parents homesteaded near Roseglen and he was born in Larimore, North Dakota, then placed in an orphanage in Fargo where he was adopted by Chris and Jennie Hill at three months of age.[1] Hill's new family took him to Washburn where he eventually graduated from Washburn High School.[1] He also attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota,[1] where he played football, studied history, and was a 1954 graduate. After college, Hill was assigned to the Denver office of Secret Service in 1958 and served on the detail for President Dwight D. Eisenhower.[2] After John F. Kennedy was elected President of the United States, Hill was assigned to protect the First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy.
President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, during a motorcade through the city, en route to a luncheon at the Dallas Trade Mart. The President and Mrs. Kennedy were riding in an open limousine containing three rows of seats. The Kennedys were in the rear seat of the car, and the Governor of Texas, John Connally, and his wife, Nellie Connally, were in the middle row. Secret Service agent William Greer was driving and the president's bodyguard. Roy Kellerman, was also in the front seat.
Hill was riding in the car immediately behind the presidential limousine. As soon as the shooting began, Hill jumped out and began running to overtake the moving car in front of him. He climbed from the rear bumper, crawling over the trunk to the back seat where the President and First Lady were located.
Hill grabbed a small handrail on the left rear of the trunk, normally used by bodyguards to stabilize themselves while standing on small platforms on the rear bumper. According to the Warren Commission's findings, there were no bodyguards stationed on the bumper that day because
...the President had frequently stated that he did not want agents to ride on these steps during a motorcade except when necessary. He had repeated this wish only a few days before, during his visit to Tampa, Florida.
.[3]
The notion that the President's instructions in Tampa jeopardized his security in Dallas has since been denied by Hill and other agents. Regardless of Kennedy's statement, photos taken of the motorcade along earlier segments of the route show Hill riding on the step at the back of the car.
