2010年6月2日 民主党 鳩山首相が辞任(辞意表明)しました。
就任から８ヶ月半での辞任でした。私はもともと何も期待してなく、「どうか日本にマイナスになるような余計なことはしないで欲しい」とただひたすら願っていた次第です。しかしここに来て辞任。参院選を前にです。

STORYLINE:
China's Vice President Xi Jinping met with Japan's Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama in Tokyo on Monday on the first day of a two day visit to discuss bilateral relations but marked by controversy over a planned meeting with Emperor Akihito.
Xi is expected to meet the Japanese emperor on Tuesday, after the Japanese government pushed the Imperial Household Agency to grant China's request for a meeting with the 75-year-old ailing monarch, according to the Kyodo news agency.
China made the request two days ago and was initially turned down because the rule of protocol demands prospective foreign visitors submit a written request for a meeting at least one month in advance, Kyodo said.
"I sincerely wish to express my gratitude to Prime Minister Hatoyama and the government of Japan for the thorough preparation for my visit," Xi said to Hatoyama.
Xi is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with lawmakers from Japan's ruling and opposition parties on Tuesday afternoon as well as Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada on Wednesday, Kyodo said.
Xi had been expected to meet with Ichiro Ozawa, secretary general of the main ruling Democratic Party of Japan on Tuesday afternoon but their meeting was cancelled, the DPJ announced on Monday according to Kyodo.
Kyodo said Ozawa's office had not issued any statement on the reasons for the cancellation.
However, speculation has mounted that Ozawa pressured the government to arrange Xi's meeting with the emperor prompting a flurry of criticism from both ruling and opposition lawmakers who said the emperor should not be involved in political or diplomatic relations, Kyodo said.
Japan's Constitution stipulates that the emperor serves as a symbol of the state and has no powers related to the government.
Xi, who is seen as the front-runner to succeed President Hu Jintao, is beginning an eight-day Asia tour that will also take him to South Korea, Cambodia and Myanmar, Kyodo reported.
Hatoyama has pushed for better ties between Asia's two biggest economies since taking office three months ago.

Yukio Hatoyama told a news conference on Wednesday that he would step down over his broken campaign promise to move a US military base off the southern island of Okinawa.
"Since last year's elections, I tried to change politics in which the people of Japan would be the main characters," he said in remarks broadcast nationwide.
But he conceded his efforts were not understood, "mainly because of my failings".
Hatoyama's approval ratings had plummeted after he backtracked last week on a pledge to move the US Futenma Marine Air Station off Okinawa.
His decision to keep the unpopular base on the island, despite strong local opposition, caused a split in his three-party coalition, with the small Social Democrat party quitting the government on Sunday.
The prime minister had faced growing pressure from within his own Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) for him to step down to revive the party's fortunes ahead of an election for the upper house of parliament expected on July 11.
With tears in his eyes, Hatoyama told party legislators that he, and Ichiro Ozawa, the party secretary-general seen by many as the real power behind Hatoyama's administration, would both resign.
"In order to revitalise our party, we need to bring back a thoroughly clean Democratic party. I would like to ask your co-operation," Hatoyama said.
A new leader will be chosen in a few days, a party official said, and analysts have tipped Naoto Kan, the finance minister, as the frontrunner to replace Hatoyama.
The Democrats swept to power in August after a landslide election win for parliament's more powerful lower house, ousting the conservative Liberal Democratic party (LDP) after more than 50 years of almost continuous rule.
But doubts over Hatoyama's perceived indecisiveness have eroded the government's approval ratings, with one poll showing support at just 17 per cent.
Some analysts said the change of the party's top two leaders would help restore the Democrats' popularity ahead of the election, although many voters had been outraged when two leaders of previous LDP-led governments quit abruptly after just a year in office.
Katsuhiko Nakamura, the director of research at the Asian Forum Japan, said "although getting rid of Ozawa and Hatoyama won't win back all that support, at least the Democrats will no longer have to be on the defensive during the campaign".
Hidenori Suezawa, the chief strategist at Nikko Cordial Securities, said the move "will put an end to downward trend in the popularity of Democrats", adding that "Ozawa must have made this decision to win the election".
Hatoyama is the fourth Japanese prime minister to resign in four years.
A political funding scandal embroiling Ozawa and some aides, along with Hatoyama's perceived inconsistency and indecision - particularly on the relocation of the US Marine Air Station Futenma on Okinawa - sent his approval rating plunging.

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan announced a cabinet reshuffle today. This comes after he won a leadership ballot and retained his post as prime minister on Tuesday.
Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan kept his allies in key posts during a cabinet reshuffle on Friday.
The reshuffle comes after Kan defeated rival lawmaker Ichiro Ozawa in a contest over the leadership of the Democratic Party of Japan on Tuesday. Kan's win allows him to keep his job as Prime Minister.
Former Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada will become party secretary general, and taking his place, former Transportation Minister Seiji Maehara will become foreign minister.

The Democratic Party of Japan swept to power a year ago... promising change after more than 50 years of almost non-stop rule by the conservative Liberal Democratic Party. Kan's predecessor, Yukio Hatoyama, was forced to quit in June after his ratings took a nose-dive.

Ichirō Hatoyama
Ichirō Hatoyama (鳩山 一郎, Hatoyama Ichirō, 1 January 1883 – 7 March 1959) was a Japanese politician and the 52nd, 53rd and 54th Prime Minister of Japan, serving terms from 10 December 1954 through 19 March 1955, from then to 22 November 1955, and from then through 23 December 1956.
Personal life
Ichirō Hatoyama was, as his name indicates, the first born boy. He was born into a wealthy cosmopolitan family in Tokyo. His father Kazuo Hatoyama (1856–1911) was a Yale graduate (and Speaker of the House of Representatives) and his mother Haruko Hatoyama (1863–1938) was a famous author and the founder of Kyoritsu Women's University. His brother Hideo Hatoyama was a noted jurist.
Ichirō was a Master Mason and a Protestant Christian (Baptist). He was Japan's third postwar Christian Prime Minister.
Iichirō Hatoyama, Ichirō's only son, made a career for himself as a civil servant in the Budget Bureau of the Finance Ministry. Iichirō retired after having achieved the rank of administrative Vice Minister. In his second career in politics, he rose to become Foreign Minister of Japan in 1976–1977.

Japan's Constitution stipulates that the emperor serves as a symbol of the state and has no powers related to the government. Yukio Hatoyama told a news conference on Wednesday that he would step down over his broken campaign promise to move a US military base off the southern island of Okinawa. "Since last year's elections, I tried to change politics in which the people of Japan would be the main characters," he said in remarks broadcast nationwide. But he conceded his efforts were not understood, "mainly because of my failings". Hatoyama's approval ratings had plummeted after he backtracked last week on a pledge to move the US Futenma Marine Air Station off Okinawa. His decision to keep the unpopular base on the island, despite strong local opposition, caused a split in his three-party coalition, with the small Social Democrat party quitting the government on Sunday. The prime minister had faced growing pressure from within his own Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) for him to step down to revive the party's fortunes ahead of an election for the upper house of parliament expected on July 11. With tears in his eyes, Hatoyama told party legislators that he, and Ichiro Ozawa, the party secretary-general seen by many as the real power behind Hatoyama's administration, would both resign. "In order to revitalise our party, we need to bring back a thoroughly clean Democratic party. I would like to ask your co-operation," Hatoyama said. A new leader will be chosen in a few days, a party official said, and analysts have tipped Naoto Kan, the finance minister, as the frontrunner to replace Hatoyama. The Democrats swept to power in August after a landslide election win for parliament's more powerful lower house, ousting the conservative Liberal Democratic party (LDP) after more than 50 years of almost continuous rule. But doubts over Hatoyama's perceived indecisiveness have eroded the government's approval ratings, with one poll showing support at just 17 per cent. Some analysts said the change of the party's top two leaders would help restore the Democrats' popularity ahead of the election, although many voters had been outraged when two leaders of previous LDP-led governments quit abruptly after just a year in office. Katsuhiko Nakamura, the director of research at the Asian Forum Japan, said "although getting rid of Ozawa and Hatoyama won't win back all that support, at least the Democrats will no longer have to be on the defensive during the campaign". Hidenori Suezawa, the chief strategist at Nikko Cordial Securities, said the move "will put an end to downward trend in the popularity of Democrats", adding that "Ozawa must have made this decision to win the election". Hatoyama is the fourth Japanese prime minister to resign in four years. Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan kept his allies in key posts during a cabinet reshuffle on Friday. The reshuffle comes after Kan defeated rival lawmaker Ichiro Ozawa in a contest over the leadership of the Democratic Party of Japan on Tuesday. Kan's win allows him to keep his job as Prime Minister. Former Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada will become party secretary general, and taking his place, former Transportation Minister Seiji Maehara will become foreign minister. [Ren Hou, Government Revitalization Minister]: "Although as a member of the cabinet, I am not in a position to pass broad judgment, I believe that Prime Minister Kan has managed to put the right people in the right places. While not sure about myself, I think that this cabinet is made up of those who have a high level of knowledge about their respective fields." Kan also kept Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda. Earlier this week, Noda oversaw Japan's first intervention in the currency markets in six years... to stop the rising yen and protect the nation's export sector. China's Vice President Xi Jinping met with Japan's Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama in Tokyo on Monday on the first day of a two day visit to discuss bilateral relations but marked by controversy over a planned meeting with Emperor Akihito.
Xi is expected to meet the Japanese emperor on Tuesday, after the Japanese government pushed the Imperial Household Agency to grant China's request for a meeting with the 75-year-old ailing monarch, according to the Kyodo news agency.
China made the request two days ago and was initially turned down because the rule of protocol demands prospective foreign visitors submit a written request for a meeting at least one month in advance, Kyodo said.
"I sincerely wish to express my gratitude to Prime Minister Hatoyama and the government of Japan for the thorough preparation for my visit," Xi said to Hatoyama.
Xi is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with lawmakers from Japan's ruling and opposition parties on Tuesday afternoon as well as Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada on Wednesday, Kyodo said.
Xi had been expected to meet with Ichiro Ozawa, secretary general of the main ruling Democratic Party of Japan on Tuesday afternoon but their meeting was cancelled, the DPJ announced on Monday according to Kyodo.
Kyodo said Ozawa's office had not issued any statement on the reasons for the cancellation.
However, speculation has mounted that Ozawa pressured the government to arrange Xi's meeting with the emperor prompting a flurry of criticism from both ruling and opposition lawmakers who said the emperor should not be involved in political or diplomatic relations, Kyodo said.
Japan's Constitution stipulates that the emperor serves as a symbol of the state and has no powers related to the government.
Xi, who is seen as the front-runner to succeed President Hu Jintao, is beginning an eight-day Asia tour that will also take him to South Korea, Cambodia and Myanmar, Kyodo reported.
Hatoyama has pushed for better ties between Asia's two biggest economies since taking office three months ago.

"Since last year's elections, I tried to change politics in which the people of Japan would be the main characters," he said in remarks broadcast nationwide.
But he conceded his efforts were not understood, "mainly because of my failings".
Hatoyama's approval ratings had plummeted after he backtracked last week on a pledge to move the US Futenma Marine Air Station off Okinawa.
His decision to keep the unpopular base on the island, despite strong local opposition, caused a split in his three-party coalition, with the small Social Democrat party quitting the government on Sunday.
The prime minister had faced growing pressure from within his own Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) for him to step down to revive the party's fortunes ahead of an election for the upper house of parliament expected on July 11.
With tears in his eyes, Hatoyama told party legislators that he, and Ichiro Ozawa, the party secretary-general seen by many as the real power behind Hatoyama's administration, would both resign.
"In order to revitalise our party, we need to bring back a thoroughly clean Democratic party. I would like to ask your co-operation," Hatoyama said.
A new leader will be chosen in a few days, a party official said, and analysts have tipped Naoto Kan, the finance minister, as the frontrunner to replace Hatoyama.
The Democrats swept to power in August after a landslide election win for parliament's more powerful lower house, ousting the conservative Liberal Democratic party (LDP) after more than 50 years of almost continuous rule.
But doubts over Hatoyama's perceived indecisiveness have eroded the government's approval ratings, with one poll showing support at just 17 per cent.
Some analysts said the change of the party's top two leaders would help restore the Democrats' popularity ahead of the election, although many voters had been outraged when two leaders of previous LDP-led governments quit abruptly after just a year in office.
Katsuhiko Nakamura, the director of research at the Asian Forum Japan, said "although getting rid of Ozawa and Hatoyama won't win back all that support, at least the Democrats will no longer have to be on the defensive during the campaign".
Hidenori Suezawa, the chief strategist at Nikko Cordial Securities, said the move "will put an end to downward trend in the popularity of Democrats", adding that "Ozawa must have made this decision to win the election".
Hatoyama is the fourth Japanese prime minister to resign in four years.
A political funding scandal embroiling Ozawa and some aides, along with Hatoyama's perceived inconsistency and indecision - particularly on the relocation of the US Marine Air Station Futenma on Okinawa - sent his approval rating plunging.

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan announced a cabinet reshuffle today. This comes after he won a leadership ballot and retained his post as prime minister on Tuesday.
Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan kept his allies in key posts during a cabinet reshuffle on Friday.
The reshuffle comes after Kan defeated rival lawmaker Ichiro Ozawa in a contest over the leadership of the Democratic Party of Japan on Tuesday. Kan's win allows him to keep his job as Prime Minister.
Former Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada will become party secretary general, and taking his place, former Transportation Minister Seiji Maehara will become foreign minister.
[Ren Hou, Government Revitalization Minister]:
"Although as a member of the cabinet, I am not in a position to pass broad judgment, I believe that Prime Minister Kan has managed to put the right people in the right places. While not sure about myself, I think that this cabinet is made up of those who have a high level of knowledge about their respective fields."
Kan also kept Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda. Earlier this week, Noda oversaw Japan's first intervention in the currency markets in six years... to stop the rising yen and protect the nation's export sector.
The Democratic Party of Japan swept to power a year ago... promising change after more than 50 years of almost non-stop rule by the conservative Liberal Democratic Party. Kan's predecessor, Yukio Hatoyama, was forced to quit in June after his ratings took a nose-dive.
