Karen Gardner is the grandmother and guardian of 13 year old Rose Kaquatosh. Rose was forced to give her medicine pouch to the Gresham schools vice principal after being yelled at by a lunch room worker to take it off. The contents of the pouch were removed and the pouch was given to the principal who gave it away to another student. Many different issues had occurred against Rose since this incident. Over fifty percent of the students are Native American, with the majority of teachers being white. Karen Gardner tells the story of the verbal and written abuse that her granddaughter has been made a victim of. She will proceed with her request for an apology from the Gresham school staff, for her granddaughter. Which she had not her received. The pouch was made by Rose when she attended a cultural camp that was held by the Menominee Cultural Preservation Center. Mending The Hoop Show, hosted by Sherri Jones.
