Fred Figglehorn, an unpopular, hyperactive and puerile teenage who wears childish dungaree and striped t-shirts believes himself to be cool and a good singer. He is in unrequited love with a girl named Judy, and is devastated to see her performing a romantic duet with his rival Kevin during a music class. Following this, Fred aspires to one day sing his own duet with Judy. After an attempt to dig his way to her house in order to avoid harassment by Kevin, Fred discovers that she has moved house. Thus, Fred embarks on a journey to find Judy's new house and sing with her there.
Documentary tracking the exploits of aging Calvinist preacher 'Fred Phelps' (qv), a convicted felon who leads his cult (primarily composed of his wife, nine of their children, and his fifty-two grandchildren) on their "love crusades" across America, which include calling for gays to be killed, praising terrorist attacks, mocking mourners at the funerals of AIDS patients and murder victims, and literally dancing and spitting on the graves of his enemies.

[repeated line]::Fred Phelps: God hates fags!
Fred Phelps: No intelligent, patriotic American will fly the flag any way but upside down. Bunch of heathens that are making an incestuous, idolatrous orgy of so called phony patriotism. Needs to be denounced. Needs to be squarely and roundly denounced from the scriptures as a great sin. God hates America: have a nice day! [laughs]
Fred Phelps: Nobody is gonna be able to say on Judgment Day, "I didn't know." Phelps told ya!
