Today our Yim Yoonhee joins us with some artists who have done just that,... along with a special venue where those artists exhibit their works.

Water covers over 70 percent of our Earth... and it makes up about 70 percent of our bodies.

Finding inspiration is often the biggest challenge for artists but sometimes, it can be found right under their noses.
Today our Yim Yoonhee joins us with some artists who have done just that,... along with a special venue where those artists exhibit their works.
Good afternoon.
Today I have an art collection that is completely inspired by water and like you said,... you can see all of it at one of Seoul′s natural escapes.
Water covers over 70 percent of our Earth... and it makes up about 70 percent of our bodies.
All of us need it, and so does this exhibition.
Take a look.
It can be found almost anywhere,... water is one of the most precious elements on earth,...
And on top of it being essential to all life,... water is a bountiful source of artistic inspiration.
The SOMA museum is home to some of Korea′s most intriguing modern and contemporary art, and now it holds the works of 22 artists,... artists inspired by water′s fluidity,... its emptiness,... and most of all it′s capacity for complete childlike innocence.
"Water can be described as completely pure and innocent. Using that idea of innocence, artists can expand their imaginations, and explore their inner child-like purity. It heals the person and brings people together."
And that′s exactly what artist Kang Eunsu does.
Titled "Membranes," Kang creates an interactive experience that envelopes the audience together,... lapping them in images of cool water.
Like you′re floating in an actual pool, the artwork reacts to it′s audience,... creating ripples across the dark room.
Artist Rhee Kibong takes a different approach.
Inside a large lit tank, a book eerily floats back and forth,... it′s pages fanned by the water.
Other artists also show the adaptable properties of water, and all that it can do,... like capture and reflect light.
The surface of water can hold an aspect of mystery, while still shining a delicate light.
"When I stand and look at the reflection of water, or at an endless beach, I feel so inspired by nature and my soul is clear.
So with this project, I combined the image of a boat with nature.
I used stainless steel, because it looks almost like a mirror, and I can see my reflection, as well as the reflection of light onto other surfaces.
When the light hits the top, it rises back up, beautifully,... like it does in nature,... commanding a sense of respect."
The possibilities of water are ever flowing,... and its use in our daily lives continues to grow.
Though it′s a source of artistic creativity at this museum, it′s the lifeline that connects all beings together,...
It′s a precious part of our lives,... and it must be protected so that there′s enough to enshroud us all.
Yim Yoon-hee, Arirang News.

Olympic Park is an impressive leisure facility in which historic remains from the Baekje Era share space with modern state-of-the-art sports stadiums, an eco-friendly forest, and spacious grassy fields. A legacy of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the park not only houses the country’s largest sports arena, but has also become a place where Seoul residents come to relax and unwind.
Spread across 430,000 pyeong (approximately 1.45 million ㎡), Olympic Park encompasses the land that was once Mongchontoseong Fortress and Mongchonhaeja (manmade lake) from the early Baekje period. The park is divided into several zones, including a leisure sports park, a cultural art park, an eco-park, and the History Experience Park dedicated to the area’s rich historic heritage.
Because Olympic Park is so large and takes over three hours to explore, visitors are advised to familiarize themselves with entrances and exits and travel routes before they start. To further save time, visitors can ride the Road Train (“Hodori Train”) located next to the Peace Square.
* Cultural Art Park
The Cultural Art Park is a place where visitors can enjoy diverse cultural experiences and performances. The park also features the Olympic Museum, the Seoul Olympics Museum of Art (SOMA)—one of the world’s top five sculpture museums—and Music Fountain.
* Leisure Sports Park
This area is comprised of the Sports Square (walking/jogging paths, an acupressure path, inline skating area, etc.) and Peace Square (a pleasant area with a wide variety of activities and sports lessons).
* Environmental Eco-Park Persistent efforts have succeeded in restoring natural splendor to this place where a equally splendid civilization once blossomed. People and nature co-exist comfortably within the Environmental Eco-Park, which has become home to families of spot-billed ducks, white herons, cuckoos, pheasants, Korean squirrels, chipmunks, and frogs. More recent efforts to rejuvenate the local ecosystem have resulted in the appearance of woodpeckers and raccoons, both of which are rarely spotted in cities. The croaking of small round frogs can now be heard within the park as well.
* History Experience Park Visitors to the park can experience Korean history firsthand at the Mongchontoseong Fortress and the Baekje Museum, while hearkening back to the more recent, grand spirit of the Olympics in the ‘Holy Land of Peace.’

Seoul is one of the most dynamic cities in the world. I've been privileged enough to have lived in and around the Seoul metropolitan area for several years as an English teacher. It's a city that is near and dear to my heart and one which I strongly encourage you to visit. Below is my things to do in Seoul travel guide featuring all of the top attractions worth visiting:
1) Insadong is the cultural HUB of Seoul. It's an area that is equally as popular with locals as it is with tourists. Whether you're shopping for Korean souvenirs, people watching or wanting to grab some Korean street food, you'll find it all here.

As the capital of South Korea, Seoul blends futuristic skyscrapers with ancient cultural tradition. Together, these elements create a visit you’ll never forget.
The performing arts are very important to residents of Seoul, and you’ll find extraordinary renditions of song and dance, music, and martial arts just about anywhere you decide to go. Where else can you watch a ceremonial Changing of the Guard at Gyeongbokgung Palace to get a taste the city’s love of tradition and pageantry, and then follow it up with dancing the night away in one of Seoul’s many ultramodern nightclubs?
Are you always looking for that perfect purchase? So is Seoul. The people of this city love shopping; entire neighborhoods are dedicated to the art and craft of the perfect bargain. Scan the night market for that ultimate piece of traditional art, or wander into a high-end department store for that jacket you didn’t realize you needed. On that note, when shopping is near, so is food—intersperse your purchasing adventures with delicious Korean food wherever you go.

After hours of exploring the city itself, relax with a peaceful walk along the Cheonggyecheon Stream. This waterway runs through downtown Seoul and is dotted with parks and other public spaces for you to enjoy.

Things to do in Seoul Korea | Top Attractions Travel Guide
2) Do fancy cats? For cat lovers (and the cats living there) a cat cafe is paradise. With an opportunity to interact with cats and feed them treats, you'll be sure to make a few feline friends in just one sitting. The deal with these cat cafes is that you have to purchase a prepaid drink and/or snack (at a price higher than a normal cafe) for the opportunity to pet and play with kitties. Our favorite cat cafe was located in Hongdae.
3) In the winter Korea is frigid in a way few from abroad might expect. To warm up head to a proper Korean Tea House where you'll be served a wonderful aromatic fruity Korean tea accompanied by rice cake snacks. To enjoy like a local find a spot with Ondol - heated floors. If you're looking for a recommendation, try the ginger tea!
4) For the best view in Seoul consider hiking up Mount Namsan to visit Seoul Tower. Best done in the spring or fall - given the moderate temperatures - this moderately challenging walk will take less than an hour to complete. We picked late fall to go when it was cooler outside and leaves were changing colors.
5) No trip to Seoul would be complete without visiting the oldest market in the city - Namdaemun market. Many come here to shop but I'm all about coming for Korean street food. With a plethora of stalls and no shortage of options it's best to arrive with an empty stomach. If you're having a hard time choosing I recommend Hotteok and Tteokbokki.
6) As if visiting a cat cafe wasn't enough there are also dog cafes in Seoul! Unlike the cat cafes, which are a bit more mellow, prepare for a high energy kind of environment in the dog cafe where the dogs are more active than the docile cats.
7) For the best walk in Seoul head down to the Cheonggyecheon stream in the heart of the city. Equally as fascinating during the summer as it is by winter, it takes on a totally different personality as the seasons change. If you're lucky you'll spot a traditional Korean performance or hear Korean music playing.
8) There are numerous palaces to consider visiting in Seoul but none is more impressive than Gyeongbokgung. With admission being only 3000 KRW it's a cheap and fun landmark to visit. Be sure to stick around for the changing of guard ceremony.

Long time no update! Sorry for the lack of videos- I am still currently traveling in China and there is very limited access to YouTube but I wanted to share my Vlog from Seoul, Korea while I can get online!
I absolutely loved Seoul and all of the shopping in Dongdaemun & Myeon-dong! This is perfect for shopaholics :) There are endless shops for trendy clothes and top of the line skin care products! I had to hold myself back from buying everything I saw but follow me around in my Vlog while I explore the streets of Seoul and stay tuned for a big haul :)

Seoul South Korea Travel Guide 2 of 2 - Themeparks - BBC FastTrack Report
When coming up with a top attractions travel guide for South Korea it became a daunting task to go through my travel video library collection of Korean videos and decide which ones to use. There is just so much to see and do in Korea from food to culture and from attractions and cities worth visiting. From Seoul to Busan and from countryside to urban city centers there is something for everyone. The following recommendation for the top things to do in South Korea:
1) Visiting Insadong
Considered by many to the cultural hub of Seoul, Insadong is the perfect place to indulge in Korean street, go shopping and take in Korean traditional musical performances. It is also one of the best places for people watching as you'll notice a mix of both Koreans and foreigners.
2) Korean Folk Village
The Korean Folk Village, nestled in between the cities of Suwon and Yongin, is a place you'll definitely want to check out. While wandering around he scenic premises you can snack on Korean street food delights such as sugary taffy where you'll notice traditional Korean wedding ceremonies, tightrope walking and equestrian students and performances. The best time of year to come is in the fall or spring.
3) Cat Cafes
Although we've been to several cat cafes in Thailand, Malaysia and Germany we still haven't found one that tops the cat cafe we visited in Hongdae, Seoul, South Korea. Purchase an entrance ticket, which entitles you to a drink, allows you to come in and interact with the cats playing, feeding and petting them to your hearts content.
4) One of the most historic markets in all of Seoul - and Korea for that matter - is Namdaemun Market. As the largest and oldest open air market in all of Korea you'll have a chance to shop and eat Korean street food all day long. My favorite snack here is hotteok.
5) A scenic and peaceful way to experience the heart of downtown Seoul is to wander along the Cheonggyecheon. There are few places that are more attractive to go walking. When we visited in winter we noticed many ice sculptures.
6) To beat the heat in the winter, visit a traditional Korean tea house for a fragrant cup of hot fruity tea and a delicious plate of Korean rice cake snacks.
7) Not a fan of cats? Try visiting a dog cafe as an alternative. It's the same deal as the cat cafe in terms of purchasing overpriced drinks for the chance to play and interact with cute dogs and puppies.
8) Kimbap Restaurant
For excellent Korean rice rolls, known as kimbap, head to one of the ubiquitous locations for some excellent kimchi fried rice, mandu and Korean soups.
9) Bamboo Park
If you visit the city of Damyang, in the southern region of Korea, you'll be treated to the Damyang Bamboo Forest Park. A nice scenic escape from urban Korean life, these parks do sometimes get crowded.
10) Boseong Tea Fields and Plantation
Not far from the Bamboo Forest Park is the Boseong Tea Fields. Come climb up to the very top - it's quite the workout and enjoy a cup of green tea or green tea flavored ice cream upon returning to the bottom.
11) There are a plethora of fascinating palaces and temples to explore in Seoul. Our favorite, is Gyeongbokgung Palace where admission is only 3000 Won. Pose with Korean guards and stick around for the changing of the guard.
12) If you're ready to shop until you drop be sure to visit Myeongdong, one of the most popular shopping districts in all of Seoul. Here you'll find swanky boutique shops and plenty of restaurants.
13) For the art and hipster scene be sure to visit Hongdae, the most popular student hangout area for Koreans. From food to nightlife to shopping this place has it all for young 20 somethings.
14) An alternative to Itaewon is Songtan - located nearby an American Military base in the Pyeongtaek region. This is where you'll come to buy American goods and to eat International cuisine.
15) Seoul Tower offers amazing views of the city but I enjoyed climbing Namsan even more. The climb is free and it best enjoyed on a fall or spring afternoon when the weather is cool.

Travel video about destination South-Korea.
South Korea is a land of ancient tradition and contemporary life, a fascinating world…with five thousand years of history. Seoul is the country’s economic and cultural centre, a metropolis of twelve million inhabitants who are proud of their ancient culture. The War Museum is a reminder of the Forgotten War when the United States of America and twenty other countries took part in a United Nations military operation to support South Korea against the forces North Korea and China. Thirty kilometres south of Seoul is the fortress town of Suwon where at the end of the eighteenth century the Hwaseong Fortress was built, now a World Heritage Sight. South Korea’s most famous monastery is located in the Gaya-San National Park. Today the complex and its ninety buildings have become one of the main Buddhist centres in the East.. Tumuli Park is situated in the centre of Kyong Ju, former capital of the Silla Kingdom and contains twenty three royal tombs that look from the outside like large green hills. A huge number of valuable finds were made here thus the National Museum was created in which more than a hundred and fifty thousand exhibits from prehistoric times right up to the Joseon Dynasty are on display. Jeju island is a unique holiday paradise, a volcanic island with temples, waterfalls, tea plantations and several leisure facilities. For Koreans as well as the Japanese, Jeju Island has, due to its tropical climate, become a very popular honeymoon destination. When during dinner a volcano erupts and laser gods battle against each other, the Korean people are reminded of the fact that they have withstood invasion by the Mongols, Chinese and Japanese. At the climax of the show a fiery dragon appears: his sole task to protect glorious South Korea!

Water art exhibition comes to Seoul Olympic Museum of Art
소마미술관의 Water_천진난만展

* Cultural Art Park
The Cultural Art Park is a place where visitors can enjoy diverse cultural experiences and performances. The park also features the Olympic Museum, the Seoul Olympics Museum of Art (SOMA)—one of the world’s top five sculpture museums—and Music Fountain.
* Leisure Sports Park

25 Best Things To Do in Seoul, South Korea
Check out my Seoul travel guide and tips at this link: http://migrationology.com/2012/05/seoul-travel-guide/ - All my personal Seoul travel tips and suggestions!
Seoul, South Korea, is truly an amazing city to visit! It's modern, easy to navigate and there's little something everyone will enjoy. The Seoul subway system makes it easy to get around town and discover exactly what the giant city has to offer.
Surrounded by Japan and China, Seoul and South Korea sometimes doesn't get all the attention is deserves . Korea is home to a unique culture, cuisine and a fascinating history. If you ever have the chance to visit Seoul, you'll have a great time!
I traveled to Seoul Korea and was able to do all kinds of things, but I've narrowed this list down to twenty five of the best things to do in Seoul - of course there are other things as well but this list is just the beginning and intended to get your ideas and travel imagination flowing!
Anyway, on to the top Seoul attractions, here's the list in case you can't see the video:
1. Gyeongbukgung Palace
2. Bukchon Hanok Village
3. Jogyesa Buddhist Temple
4. Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress
5. War Memorial and Museum
6. N Seoul Tower
7. Myeongdong Shopping
8. Insadong
9. Namdaemun Market
10. Dongdaemun
11. International Itaewon
12. Hongdae (Hongik University)
13. Lotte Mart
14. Lotte World
15. Seoul Children's Park
16. Han River Walking / Riding
17. Walk along the Cheonggyecheon Stream
18. Hike in Seoul
19. Gwangjang Market
20. Noryangjin Fish Market

I stayed in South Korea for just over 2 weeks and was able to complete this entire list of things to do in Seoul.
However, even though there are so many places to see and go, probably my favorite of all is eating and sampling delicious Korean food! Korean food is so good and there are so many restaurants everywhere you look in Seoul that it can truly be considered a foodie's paradise.
If you get a chance to visit Seoul I hope your'e able to do all these wonderful things while you're there!
Anything else you love about Seoul that's not on this list? Please feel free to leave a comment below and let me know!

Seoul is the business and cultural hub of South Korea, where skyscrapers tower over Buddhist temples. Take it all in from the N Seoul Tower, built atop a peak in Namsan Park. The teahouses and shops of Insadong give you a taste of Korean flavor, which you can further experience with a visit to the grounds and museums of Gyeongbokgung. UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeokgung Palace is a fine example of authentic ancient architecture.

After hours of exploring the city itself, relax with a peaceful walk along the Cheonggyecheon Stream. This waterway runs through downtown Seoul and is dotted with parks and other public spaces for you to enjoy.
What will you do in Seoul?

Things to do in Seoul Korea | Top Attractions Travel Guide
Things to do in Seoul Korea | Top Attractions Travel Guide

It is the heart of Korea's culture and education as well as politics and economics. Seoul is home to many old historic sites like Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces, and places of traditional culture like Bukchon Hanok Village, Insa-dong, and Namdaemun Market. The shopping and entertainment districts of Myeongdong and Apgujeong. The center of the city offers a myriad of resting areas for citizens.

Check out my Instagram for more pictures and updates from my trip! @thesassafras
