Chinna Thambi

Chinna Thambi is a 1991 Indian Tamil language film starring Prabhu and Kushboo. The movie stars Prabhu as the titular role of Chinna Thambi, an uneducated village simpleton and Kushboo as Nandini, a home tutored wealthy girl and is a story of love, family bonds and typical south Indian village sentiments. The movie was remade in Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi languages as Ramachaari (1991)Chanti (1992) and Anari (1993) respectively. The film was one of Prabhu's biggest blockbusters and completed a 356-day run in 9 screens and 100-day run in 47 screens.

Plot

The movie starts with the birth of a baby girl, Nandini, in a rich family. Nandini's three brothers throw a feast in honor of the girl child. The young son of the local singer (who had died) is brought in to sing for the event. The three brothers raise Nandini like their own child as their parents had died. At the age of 5, an astrologer predicts that Nandini will bring much happiness to the family, but her marriage will based on her choice and not the choice of her brothers. This angers the brothers and to prevent this from happening, she is raised within the confines of the house.She is home schooled and when she does go out, all the men are warned to hide from Nandini and that seeing Nandini will be met with dire consequences.

Chinnathambi was an Indian politician and former Member of the Legislative Assembly. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as an Indian National Congress candidate from Alangulam constituency in 1952 election.

Thambi

Thambi (English: Younger Brother) is Tamil film released in 2006. The Madhavan, Pooja starrer is directed by Seeman. It carries the message that violence doesn't pay, and is not the answer to the problems of today.

Plot

Angry young man Thambi Velu Thondaiman (Madhavan) fights against all types of evils in the society. So, he runs into Sankara Pandian (Biju Menon), a local rowdy who brings violence into the city. Thambi is determined to vanquish Sankara Pandian's activities in the society and his fearless attitude brings fear into the face of Sanakara Pandian's gang. Meanwhile, he comes across a pretty girl named Archana (Pooja). She originally mistakes him to be a gangster, as she has seen him fighting with the rowdies. But she falls in love with him later after realizing his true nature.

Thambi thwarts Sankara Pandian's terrorizing plans with the help of his close associates. At this very moment, a flashback unravels how Sankara Pandian's gang kills Thambi's family after Thambi identifies the killer of a youth. The murderer is Sanakara Pandian's brother Saravana Pandian (Shanmuga Rajeswaran).

P. Vasu

P. Vasu (born Vasudevan Peethambharam) is an Indian director, writer, and actor who works in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam films. In a career spanning three decades, Vasu has directed over 50 films.

Personal life

P.Vsu's father Peethambaram Nair worked as a make-up man for M.G.R. and N.T.R. in their films in older days. He was one of the leading make-up artists during his period and was elected as the president of the make-up union, Tamil Nadu for 30 years. He later went on to become a producer.

He produced about 25 films in Tamil and Telugu and became one of the leading producers in the south. He produced with his brother M.C. Sekhar who was a cinematographer. M.C. Sekhar had worked as a cinematographer for more than 150 films. Peethambharam died on 21 February 2011 at the age of 89.

Vasu is an alumnus of Wesley High School, Chennai. Vasu is married to Shanthi and has a son, Sakthi Vasu, who is an actor and a daughter, Abhirami Vasudevan. His mother is Kamala. Vasu's brothers are Vidyasagar, Vimal and his sisters are Vijaylakshmi,Vasantha and Vanaja.
