On Saturday, Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry has said three Saudi border guards were killed and two were injured when Houthi fighters fired a mortar round at their post a day earlier, in Najran province.
Saudi forced responded with rifle fire.
The attack brings to six the number of Saudi forces killed since the beginning of the coalition air campaign against Houthi fighters in Yemen, which started over two weeks ago.
Three other border guards were killed in early April when their post was attacked by Houthi fighters. In Saturday's statement, the Defense Ministry also said 500 Houthi fighters had been killed along Saudi Arabia's border with Yemen since last month.
Saudi Arabia is leading a military coalition air campaign in support of forces loyal to Yemen's internationally recognized president, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters and allied army units have launched a major offensive deep inside Saudi Arabia in retaliation for Riyadh’s military aggression against the Arab nation.
Yemeni fighters have managed to infiltrate into the southern Najran province, killing and wounding an unspecified number of Saudi soldiers. The United Arab Emirates, which is a partner in the Saudi military aggression, has also confirmed that another of its troops was killed in clashes with Yemeni fighters. A large number of Saudi troops are said to have fled their bases following the offensive. Yemeni fighters also inflicted heavy damage on Saudi military sites and equipment. Reports say Riyadh’s apache helicopters failed to stop the attack. This is one of the biggest reprisal strikes by Yemeni fighters since Saudi Arabia began its onslaught on its southern neighbor in March

DUBAI (Reuters) - Five Saudi soldiers were killed near the border with Yemen, the Saudi Press Agency said late on Sunday, while a Saudi-led military coalition began an offensive to drive Houthi militia forces out of Yemen's energy-rich province of Marib.
The statement said the five Saudis were killed in southern Najran province.
Meanwhile, one Emirati serviceman was killed in the ground offensive in Marib, the United Arab Emirates state news agency WAM said late on Sunday.

Yemen’s Ansarullah forces and allied army units have reportedly managed to capture a number of areas in the south of Saudi Arabia.
Images aired by al-Masirah TV show Yemeni fighters in the town of Rabu’ah in the kingdom’s Asir region. The spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces says they have surrounded the Saudi cities of Najran and Jizan and are ready to enter the cities. He said Yemeni fighters have launched a new phase of using strategic options in their war against Saudi Arabia. They also shelled several military sites in southern Saudi Arabia. Inside Yemen, Ansarullah fighters killed 25 militants fighting for Saudi Arabia and captured several others in the southern Ta’izz province. Meanwhile, Saudi warplanes launched airstrikes on Ta’izz. Riyadh’s relentless onslaught on Yemen has killed over 7200 people since late March.

The Yemeni army, backed by popular committees, has launched fresh retaliatory attacks on Saudi Arabia’s border areas.
Yemeni fighters targeted Saudi military bases with mortar shells in southern Najran province. They also destroyed an army vehicle in separate attacks in Jizan. On Friday, Yemenis targeted Saudi troops across the border, destroying a tank and an armored vehicle in Najran. Najran (Arabic: نجران Naǧrān) is a province of Saudi Arabia, located in the south of the country along the border with Yemen. It has an area of 119,000 km². Its capital is Najran. Najran is inhabited by the powerful Yam tribe, who have lived in the region for hundreds of years. The governor of the Najran Province has been Mishaal bin Abdullah since 2009. The former governor was Mishaal bin Saud but he was "relieved" in 2008. This move was closely related to the province's unique characteristics since the majority of people in this province are Ismaili. More specifically, 400,000 strong Shia ‘Ismaili’ reside in Najran Province.
Najran contains three geographical regions. First, the flat region which lies in the middle of Najran. It has several valleys, the most famous of them being Najran’s valley. Second, the mountainous region which is in the west and the north. There the weather is moderate in summer. It has several beautiful parks such as shadowy and nabk trees. It has important governorate centers. They are Habuna governorate, Badr EL-junoob governorate, Yadmah governorate, and that governorate that won King Fahd’s attention because it has mineral wealth. The most important of all is the gold area where much gold was mined that lies in El-Johns area, which follows Safah center. Many of the mountains are distinguished by granite rocks that produce marble and granite. Its productions cover a large part of the Kingdom’s needs. Third, the sandy region which lies in the east and is a part of the Empty Quarter. It is extremely rich in oil.

Najran (Arabic: نجران Naǧrān), formerly known as Aba as Sa'ud, is a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen. It is the capital of Najran Province. Designated a New town, Najran is one of the fastest-growing cities in the kingdom; its population has risen from 47,500 in 1974 and 90,983 in 1992 to 246,880 in 2004 and to 1200000 in 2011. The population belongs mostly to the ancient tribe of Yam.
Due to its long history, the inhabitants of Najran are made up of many races, religions and backgrounds. Islam is the religion of all of the Najranis, with Ismaili Shia forming the plurality of the religious adherents. Hanbali, Shafii and Maliki Sunnis form the second largest ethno-religious group in the city, while Zaydi Shia froms the smallest ethno-religious group.
Najran in Arabic has at least two meanings. It is a term used to describe the wooden frame on which a door opens and is also a synonym for thirsty. Local tradition also has it that the land derived its name from the first man to settle in the area, Najran ibn Zaydan ibn Saba ibn Yahjub ibn Yarub ibn Qahtan.

On Saturday, Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry has said three Saudi border guards were killed and two were injured when Houthi fighters fired a mortar round at their post a day earlier, in Najran province.
Saudi forced responded with rifle fire.
The attack brings to six the number of Saudi forces killed since the beginning of the coalition air campaign against Houthi fighters in Yemen, which started over two weeks ago.
Three other border guards were killed in early April when their post was attacked by Houthi fighters. In Saturday's statement, the Defense Ministry also said 500 Houthi fighters had been killed along Saudi Arabia's border with Yemen since last month.
Saudi Arabia is leading a military coalition air campaign in support of forces loyal to Yemen's internationally recognized president, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The Saudi Interior Ministry says mortar rounds and shells fired from Yemen have killed an army serviceman in Jizan region. The ministry said at least seven other soldiers were wounded there. Some Saudi military bases have been targeted in southern Najran province. On Friday, Yemenis targeted Saudi troops across the border, destroying a tank and an armored vehicle in Najran. Yemeni retaliatory attacks on Saudi border regions began earlier this month. Some thirty Saudis have been killed in rocket and mortar attacks by Yemeni fighters since Riyadh started its offensive against Yemen on March 26.

Saudi Arabia is violating a ceasefire in war-torn Yemen that came into effect on Tuesday. The kingdom has carried out more airstrikes across the country. Marrakesh or Marrakech is a major city in the northwest African nation of Morocco. It is the fourth largest city in the country after Casablanca, Rabat and Fes, and is the capital of the mid-southwestern region of Marrakesh-Tensift-El Haouz. Located to the north of the foothills of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, by road Marrakesh is located 580 km (360 mi) southwest of Tangier, 327 km (203 mi) southwest of the Moroccan capital of Rabat, 239 km (149 mi) south of Casablanca, and 246 km (153 mi) northeast of Agadir.
Marrakesh is possibly the most important of Morocco's four former imperial cities (cities that were built by Moroccan Berber empires). The region was inhabited by Berber farmers from Neolithic times, but the actual city was founded in 1062 AD by Abu Bakr ibn Umar, chieftain and cousin of Almoravid king Yusuf ibn Tashfin. In the 12th century, the Almoravids built many madrasas (Koranic schools) and mosques in Marrakesh that bear Andalusian influences. The red walls of the city, built by Ali ibn Yusuf in 1122-1123, and various buildings constructed in red sandstone during this period, have given the city the nickname of the "Red City" or "Ochre City". Marrakesh grew rapidly and established itself as a cultural, religious, and trading centre for the Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa; Jemaa el-Fnaa is the busiest square in Africa.
After a period of decline, the city was surpassed by Fes, but in the early 16th century, Marrakesh again became the capital of the kingdom. The city regained its preeminence under wealthy Saadian sultans Abu Abdallah al-Qaim and Ahmad al-Mansur, who embellished the city with sumptuous palaces such as the El Badi Palace (1578) and restored many ruined monuments. Beginning in the 17th century, the city became popular among Sufi pilgrims for Morocco's seven patron saints, who are entombed here. In 1912 the French Protectorate in Morocco was established and T'hami El Glaoui became Pasha of Marrakesh and held this position nearly throughout the duration of the protectorate until the role was dissolved upon independence of Morocco and the reestablishment of the monarchy in 1956. Yemen's markets, once bustling with tourists, have been unusually quiet around this year's Eid al-Fitr.
Less visitors are coming to the country because of security concerns - and that means a loss of trade for the businesses who rely on them.
STORYLINE:
The Gate of Yemen.
Decorated with distinct geometric patterns, it is part of the old walled city of Sanaa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the past, tourists flocked to this part of the Yemeni capital, attracted by its unique visual character and welcoming locals.
But as violence continues to plague the poorest Arab nation, the Yemeni tourism industry is experiencing a slump.
Market vendors in old Sanaa say they're feeling the pinch.
Sales of traditional items, such as this jambiya dagger - a Yemeni symbol of masculinity - have slowed down to a trickle.
Ali Bishr, who sells silver and jewellery, says the number of tourists visiting the old city has gone down.
"Tourism, for us, greatly affects our work, and our work has decreased by at least two thirds. Our trade has decreased, because the silver trade was largely here for tourists who come from abroad to buy silver and other things," he says.
Yemen's economy has already been battered by an ongoing war against rebels in the south and an intense US-backed offensive against an al-Qaida offshoot in much of its lawless hinterland and several cities.
There has been a noticeable absence of security forces throughout the country, including at popular tourist sites and areas housing ancient antiquities.
The high security threat level has led to a number of western countries, including Britain and the US, to issue permanent advisories warning their nationals against all travel to Yemen.
A total of 104,000 tourists visited Yemen in 2013, less than half of what neighbouring Oman has drawn in recent years.
Tourism-related industries such as silversmiths, sellers of agate crystals, antique shops and translation offices are disappearing.
Abd Al Gabar Al Salawi, Undersecretary at the Yemeni Ministry of Tourism, claims the situation has not been helped by the government's policies.
"A lot of the acts of terrorism, instability, and kidnappings have affected tourism. And the government has not found any radical solutions to these problems. In the sense that this is the wrong sort of policy to deal with these incidents which affect tourism, such as ongoing despair, nepotism and the meeting of (terrorists') demands in unlawful ways," says Al Salawi.
Foreign travellers have been killed in bomb attacks in Yemen in recent years.
There have also been kidnappings and abductions, even in urban areas.
Tourism has also been affected by worsening political conditions since a popular uprising removed former president Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2012.
