Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) is committed to supporting the development of swimming around the world. As a result, QOC has developed the 1st FINA /
Doha 2014 Youth Programme for the
FINA World Swimming Championships under the patronage of
His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani,
General Secretary -
CEO of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
With the goal of inspiring and motivating future stars of tomorrow, young swimmers who have already proven to be stand out talent from their country will be given the opportunity to experience the
World Championships first hand. Under the expert guidance of renowned leading coaches, those selected will learn the latest trends and techniques in training that have helped mold today’s swimming champions who will compete in Doha 2014, a once in a sporting lifetime opportunity.
The top two athletes in their age category (14-16 years) and one coach from each country competing at the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) will be invited to have the full championship experience from 3-7
December 2014. Over the course of the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships, the
Hamad Aquatic Centre will play host to around 350 young swimmers.
During the programme, athletes have the chance to meet fellow young swimmers from around the world, sharing their experiences, cultures and passion for the sport that unites them. Coaches and swimmers alike will have the opportunity to talk with and build lasting friendships with those active in the sport internationally while also being able to speak with their swimming idols, the world-class swimmers and their coaches who will compete at the Hamad Aquatic Centre, in
Aspire, Doha.
Participants in the 1st FINA /Doha Youth Programme will not only be given a memorable sporting experience, but also given a chance to explore and learn about the rich cultural heritage and future ambitions of this year’s host country,
Qatar. An emerging young nation with a vibrant and multicultural society, Doha is the perfect location for a youth program that shares many of the characteristics of the youthful participants, connected by a desire to be truly world-class. This is a great opportunity for swimmers to gain exposure to major international events and familiarise young swimmers with competition week format.
