An angel is a purely spiritual being found in various religions and mythologies. In Abrahamic religions and Zoroastrianism, angels are often depicted as benevolent celestial beings who act as intermediaries between God or Heaven and Earth, or as guardian spirits or a guiding influence. Other roles of angels include protecting and guiding human beings, and carrying out God's tasks. The term "angel" has also been diversed to various notions of spirits or figures found in many other religious traditions. The theological study of angels is known as "angelology".
In art, angels are often depicted with bird-like wings on their back, a halo, robes and various forms of glowing light.
The word angel (pronounced /ˈeɪn.dʒəl/) in English is a blend of Old English engel (with a hard g) and Old French angele. Both derive from Late Latin angelus "messenger", which in turn was borrowed from Late Greek ἄνγελος ángelos. According to R. S. P. Beekes, ángelos itself may be "an Oriental loan, like ἄγγαρος ['Persian mounted courier']." The word's earliest form is Mycenaean a-ke-ro attested in Linear B syllabic script.

The following post is an open letter to members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. http://tinyurl.com/2ea8sc3 It's time for The Roots crew to be on top. It's "Now or Never". It's been nearly two decades since Philly's finest, Questlove (Ahmir Thompson), joined Black Thought (Tariq Trotter) and a number of other musicians (past and present) to form The Roots. Historically speaking, they're one of the last black bands (an ensemble of musicians playing instruments) to be signed to a major label. Starting From The Ground Up all the way to Wake Up, they've evolved and undoubtably proven that they are America's band. Clocking in at 42 minutes, their latest album, How I Got Over, should be considered the best album of 2010. It's a genuine voice of hope at a time of high un...

Under the name, Trans-Computational Membranes, the Architectural Association Visiting School Madrid challenges the conception of flexibility within the context of spatial re-adaptation. During the 2013 School, new computational methods were utilised to rethink membrane structures from the micro to macro, resulting in a plethora of habitable prototypes. Students were involved in a continuous dialogue between analog and digital experimentation, where material processes and fabrication techniques are incorporated within a digital working methodology, analysing material behaviour from nano-scale patterns to the production of physical 1-to-1 scale prototypes. Generative design workshops took place throughout the programme, aiming at digital fabrication of textile structures though the use of p...
Fairy tales are made up of the stories of princesses in search for love as they wait to be swept up by their knight in shining armor. This princess, though, begs to differ–for her dreams wait for no knight nor are they of a lady in distress. She sees her dreams coming true now as she emerges to be one of the most bankable stars in the business–with or without her knight. Text by Angel S. Ermita Photos by V. Recorded at the Troubadour, Los Angeles, CA
In the middle of last night she went out to get her revenge
On the black witches they tried to kill her
They tried to sacrifice and burn her soul in flames
Some unknown force came and freed her
Burn the white witch
Burn the white witch
Death bears a sickly smile, will the fools ever learn
They still smile when their own death is near
She has got more power than you will ever know
They tried to harm but it's too late
Burn the white witch
Burn the white witch
Standing by your shadow
You're eyes are full of tears
You cannot seem to unwind yourself
You have killed death and fear
Forever and ever we are free
Together forever for eternity
She died early this morning from the spells of the dead
Death had its own way and won
Now she can rest in peace and sleep inside her grave
She cannot be harmed anymore
Burn the white witch
