Kapchorwa is a town in the Eastern Region of Uganda. It is the main municipal, commercial, and administrative center of Kapchorwa District.
The town of Kapchorwa is located in the Sebei sub-region, approximately 65 kilometres (40 mi), by road, northeast of Mbale, the largest city in the Eastern Region. This is approximately 310 kilometres (190 mi), by road, northeast of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. The coordinates of the town are 1°24'00.0"N 34°27'00.0"E (Latitude:1.4000; Longitude:34.4500).
During the 2002 national population census, Kapchorwa's population was estimated at 8,700. In 2010, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) estimated the population at 12,300. In 2011, UBOS estimated the mid-year population at 12,900.
The following additional points of interest lie within the town limits or close to the edges of the town:
Facebook is a social network service website launched on February 4, 2004. This is a list of software and technology features that can be found on the Facebook website.
On September 6, 2006, Ruchi Sanghvi announced a new home page feature called News Feed. Originally, when users logged into Facebook, they were presented with a customizable version of their own profile. The new layout, by contrast, created an alternative home page in which users saw a constantly updated list of their friends' Facebook activity. News Feed highlights information that includes profile changes, upcoming events, and birthdays, among other updates. This has enabled spammers and other users to manipulate these features by creating illegitimate events or posting fake birthdays to attract attention to their profile or cause. News Feed also shows conversations taking place between the walls of a user's friends. An integral part of the News Feed interface is the Mini Feed, a news stream on the user's profile page that shows updates about that user. Unlike in the News Feed, the user can delete events from the Mini Feed after they appear so that they are no longer visible to profile visitors. In 2011 Facebook updated the News Feed to show top stories and most recent stories in one feed, and the option to highlight stories to make them top stories, as well as to un-highlight stories. In response to users' criticism, Facebook later updated the News Feed to allow users to view recent stories first.

Unpredictable weather patterns affect the work of many farmers across the country, largely because they are subsistence farmers who operate on a small scale. But even when you operate small, it’s possible to grow crops throughout the year by irrigation. Joel Cherop is a young model farmer in Kapchorwa district who is engaged in irrigation. The hard to reach Kapchorwa district in eastern Uganda is hit by a shortage of doctors and other medical staff creating a high patient to doctor ratio that has hindered service delivery. The long queues at the district hospital have forced patients to resist referrals to Mbale regional referral hospital – preferring to die in the hands of their loved ones back home.
http://www.ntvuganda.co.ug/ The practice of Female Genital Mutilation in the eastern district of Kapchorwa is an age old custom that authorities say has declined significantly ever since parliament outlawed it in 2010. But although government and international organizations have carried massive sensitization campaigns to stop the practice, it still happens secretly in some areas.
Kapchorwa town is reeling in the throes of a water crisis after most of the water sources in the area dried up due to the long dry spell. The leading water supplier is now rationing water distribution in the area...with supplying restricted to just two hours.. Some residents have resorted to drawing water springs and rivers which may not be clean. Construction works for the much anticipated high Altitude training center in Kapchorwa got underway this week. The department of physical education officials in the ministry of education and Sports oversaw the ground breaking ceremony on Thursday at the site located in Teryet, Kapchorwa. By training at high altitudes, athletes aim to allow their bodies to produce extra red blood cells. Then, they head to a competition at lower elevations to take advantage of their changed physiology, which should last for 10 to 20 days. Kapchorwa Hospital serves over 5,000 people from Kapchorwa itself and neighbouring districts like Kween, Bukwo and Sironko. But the health facility has been stretched to limit with very few health workers who cannot adequately serve the patients. Many of the critical medical personnel like doctors, radiographers and pharmacists have shunned the district in preference for Kampala, abroad or working in with Non-Governmental Organizations. In this special report, Suhail Mugabi looks at the challenges of Kapchorwa Hospital. Koi Bechaaraa, Koi Bechaaraa
Dil Ko Khokar Khoj Rahaa Hai Chaahat Kaa Maaraa
Jaise Jaise Buund Buund Chaand Ghulegaa
Ankhiyon Men Ek Aur Kaab Ghulegaa
Roshani Ki Duur Duur Dhuul Udegi
Dhire Dhire Raastaa Ye Raaz Khulegaa
Ek Diwaanaa Jaag Rahaa Hai Sapanon Kaa Maaraa
Koi Bechaaraa
Mat Jaao Os Ke Shishon Se Paanv Na Kat Jaayen
Zaraa Raahon Se Ye Kaanch Uthaa Luun
Bairi Chaandani Ki Aanch Bujhaa Luun
Mat Jaao Os Ke Shishon Se Paanv Na Kat Jaayen
Jhuk Gayi Hai Aankh To Salaam Kiyaa Hogaa
Dil Ne Shaayad Hansake Tera Naam Liyaa Hogaa
Kal Kyaa Hogaa Aaj Na Jaane Raahi Banjaaraa
Koi Bechaaraa
