The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. For the majority of their history, the band consisted of Sting (lead singer, bassist and principal songwriter), Andy Summers (guitarist) and Stewart Copeland (drummer). The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and are generally regarded as one of the first new wave groups to achieve mainstream success, playing a style of rock that was influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. They are also considered one of the leaders of the Second British Invasion of the U.S. They disbanded in 1986, but reunited in early 2007 for a one-off world tour that ended in August 2008.
Their 1978 debut album, Outlandos d'Amour, reached No. 6 in the UK, and their second album Reggatta de Blanc became the first of five consecutive UK No. 1 albums.Synchronicity from 1983 was No. 1 in both the UK and U.S., selling over 8 million copies in the U.S. alone. The Police have sold over 75 million records, making them one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. They were the world's highest-earning musicians in 2008, thanks to their reunion tour.
"Invisible Sun" is a hit single by rock group The Police, released in September 1981. It was the first single to be released in the United Kingdom from the album Ghost in the Machine and it reached number 2 in the charts. In most other territories, "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" was chosen as the lead single from the LP.
Sting wrote "Invisible Sun" as a message to the Irish while visiting there.
The song's lyrics stem from songwriter Sting's pondering how people living in war-torn and/or impoverished countries find the will to go on living, and despite the dark music and often morbid lyrical statements, the song carries an intensely uplifting and optimistic message. The song was deeply personal for drummer Stewart Copeland, whose hometown of Beirut was being heavily bombed at the time of the song's recording.
Bono from rock group U2 performed duets of it with Sting when U2 and The Police appeared at the same concerts: the first such instance was in 1982 at a festival in Gateshead, England, and two subsequent instances occurred at the last two shows of Amnesty International's A Conspiracy of Hope Tour in 1986.

Paul David Hewson (born 10 May 1960), known by his stage name Bono (/ˈbɒnoʊ/), is an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, venture capitalist, businessman, and philanthropist. He is best known as the lead vocalist of rock band U2. Bono was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, and attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School where he met his future wife, Alison Stewart, and the future members of U2. Bono writes almost all U2 lyrics, frequently using religious, social, and political themes. During U2's early years, his lyrics contributed to their rebellious and spiritual tone. As the band matured, his lyrics became inspired more by personal experiences shared with the other members.
Outside the band, he has collaborated and recorded with numerous artists, is managing director and a managing partner of Elevation Partners, and has refurbished and owns the Clarence Hotel in Dublin with The Edge. Bono is also widely known for his activism concerning Africa, for which he co-founded DATA, EDUN, the ONE Campaign and Product Red. He has organised and played in several benefit concerts and has met with influential politicians. Bono has been praised and criticised for his activism and involvement with U2.
Amnesty International (commonly known as Amnesty and AI) is a non-governmental organisation focused on human rights with over 7 million members and supporters around the world. The stated objective of the organisation is "to conduct research and generate action to prevent and end grave abuses of human rights, and to demand justice for those whose rights have been violated."
Amnesty International was founded in London in 1961, following the publication of the article "The Forgotten Prisoners" in The Observer 28 May 1961, by the lawyer Peter Benenson. Amnesty draws attention to human rights abuses and campaigns for compliance with international laws and standards. It works to mobilise public opinion to put pressure on governments that let abuse take place. The organisation was awarded the 1977 Nobel Peace Prize for its "campaign against torture," and the United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights in 1978.
In the field of international human rights organisations, Amnesty has the longest history and broadest name recognition, and is believed by many to set standards for the movement as a whole.
Invisibility is the state of an object that cannot be seen. An object in this state is said to be invisible (literally, "not visible"). The term is often used in fantasy/science fiction, where objects cannot be seen by magical or technological means; however, its effects can also be demonstrated in the real world, particularly in physics and perceptual psychology classes.
Since objects can be seen by light in the visible spectrum from a source reflecting off their surfaces and hitting the viewer's eye, the most natural form of invisibility (whether real or fictional) is an object that neither reflects nor absorbs light (that is, it allows light to pass through it). This is known as transparency, and is seen in many naturally occurring materials (although no naturally occurring material is 100% transparent).
Invisibility perception depends on several optical and visual factors. For example, invisibility depends on the eyes of the observer and/or the instruments used. Thus an object can be classified as "invisible to" a person, animal, instrument, etc. In research on sensorial perception it has been shown that invisibility is perceived in cycles.

The Police - Stewart Armstrong Copeland & son of Miles Axe Copeland Jr. , Andrew James "Andy" Summers & Sting a.k.a. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner are live in the ABC studios talking to Molly Meldrum about many things which to fans like myself may of never of known until now because we were to young! I find it interesting when Stewart starts to talk about Klark Kent and his background and seeing the other two looking around and Sting with his hands around his mouth almost trying to almost shoosh Stewart to be quiet especially when one three letter organization is mentioned and Stewart should know these three letter organizations as well as anybody in the public could ever possibly of known,(Google his father & see for yourself) I don't know but I find this body language very interesting an...
Interviews with Stewart, Andy and Sting at Melbourne Showground on the day of the final concert of their Synchronicity Tour on March 4, 1984. This was broadcast a week later on ABC's "Countdown" program. Chopped rather heavy-handedly during broadcast recording (I presumably didn't want the other program stuff) I have further edited it to tidy it up a little.
A segment from the long running Australian music TV series Countdown, which aired on the ABC from 1974-1987. This particular segment aired during the Countdown 'End of the Decade' special, a retrospective of the music of the 1970s, which originally aired on December 16, 1979, on the ABC. This clip features an interview of British band The Police, featuring band members Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland, conducted by Countdown Talent Co-Ordinator Molly Meldrum. The interview begins, after a short clip of The Police's 'Message In A Bottle', with Molly asking the band about their relatively fast success, having kept Fleetwood Mac from the Number 1 position in the UK for a long time. A discussion is then had about how The Police achieved the success they have. Also discussed is h...

Stewart Copeland of The Police Reminisces About the '82 US Festival. "We were sold on the idea of coming to this festival in that it would be the opposite of Woodstock. It's absolutely comfortable, the grass is clean, the sound system is pristine. It was a really great experience, and the 'US' Festival was really the precursor to that. The idea that a festival isn't misery. The Festival still resonates. It was not Woodstock. It should've been, considering the talent." - Stewart Copeland, 2012 ABOUT THE FILM Regarded as the Woodstock of the 80's, the 'US' Festival captured the mindset of a culture on the cusp of a technology transformation. http://free-audio-books.info/satire/the-devils-dictionary-audiobook/ The Devil's Dictionary audiobook by Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914?) Ambrose Bierce (1842 -- 1914?), satirist, critic, poet, short story writer and journalist. His fiction showed a clean economical style often sprinkled with subtle cynical comments on human behaviour. In the Devil's Dictionary, he let his sense of humour and his cynical outlook on life colour a collection of dictionary-like definitions. (Summary by Peter)

Old video from 2005: Congressperson Cynthia McKinney, Jesse Jackson, Former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark, Joan Baez-- The US wars still rage, 8 years later in 2013-little has changed.
All those stories that used to say
There's a new world begins today
Bad old days just a memory
Trouble is that it seems to me - yeah, yeah, yeah
It's the same old planet
Golden dreams of a golden age
Silver tongue of an ancient sage
When the prose is half fulfilled
Seems it's time for you to pay all the bills - no, no no
Not on the planet
I had a vision the other night
Woken up by an angel of light
She sang a song so pure and bright
A simple tale of how it might have been
My political friend tells me I've got to fight
He says I've got to stand up for my rights
Well that's all right my friend you know I will
Just one thing you know - I ain't gonna kill - no, no no
Not on the planet
Go take me flying out of this place
To another time and some other space
I'm just another soldier fallen from grace
Won't you see me with a smile on my face?
No,no,no!
Not on the planet
(Not on the planet)
It's a new world
(Not on the planet)
It's the same old planet
(Not on the planet)
It's a new world
(Not on the planet)
But it's the same old planet
(Not on the planet)
It's a new world
(Not on the planet)
It's the same old planet
(Not on the planet)
It's a new world
(Not on the planet)
It's the same old planet
(Not on the planet)
