This video is the result of quite an amount of reading, study and work. I am not aware of any professional psychoanalyst having expressed these findings. That's why I have been wanting to make this stuff public for a while now.
I believe my conclusions are accurate and the pieces of the puzzle fit amazingly well. I find it is also appropriate to publish them now when in about 6 weeks will be 20 years since Kurt died. I believe that if Kurt had been able to understand what occurred in his psyche he might have been able to manage his conflicts and overcome them. This video is dedicated to him as well as all the psychoanalysts quoted in it, specially
Alice Miller and
Alexander Lowen.
I am not a native
English speaker.
Whenever it has been possible I have tried to find on the
Internet the original excerpts in English of the various books that I quote.
Otherwise, the quotes are a direct translation made by me from the
Spanish editions, with all the implications that may have. I would also like to apologize if there's any mistakes or grammar errors in the text, although I think
I've done pretty well.

Extra information on Kurt's analysis:
The following are excerpts from
Robert Whitaker's book
Anatomy of an Epidemic regarding Ritalin, which Kurt took for some time as a child. I think Ritalin might account for Kurt's thinness and shortness to a certain extent. It might also have furthered Kurt's splitting. Although it's been said that Kurt had been on
Lithium because
Nirvana had a song titled like that, there seems to be no evidence for that. Nonetheless, Whitaker's book also raises concerns about the use of this metal in the treatment of manic-depressive disorders.
«Even before the prescribing of Ritalin took hold, it was well known that amphetamines could stir psychotic and manic episodes
. [...]
Once this drug-induced psychosis occurs, the children are usually diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Moreover, this diagnostic progression, from medicated
ADHD to bipolar illness, is well recognized by experts in the field.»
«Ritalin and the other
ADHD medications cause a long list of physical, emotional, and psychiatric adverse effects. The physical problems include [
...] weight loss, growth suppression [...]. The emotional difficulties include depression, apathy, a general dullness, mood swings, crying jags, irritability, anxiety, and a sense of hostility towards the world. The psychiatric problems include obsessive-compulsive symptoms, mania, paranoia, psychotic episodes, and hallucinations
.»
«[...] medicating the child may produce an adult with a "reduced ability to experience pleasure". [...]
Scientists at
Texas Southwestern Medical Center in
Dallas [...] concluded that "administration of methylphenidate" while the brain is still developing "results in aberrant behavioral adaptations during adulthood.»

The following quote seems to confirm that Kurt's mother was very abusive: "
Family members also say that his mother incessantly yelled at him for trivial things which left Kurt sobbing like a baby, and in fact Don - despite what Kurt's mother,
Wendy, has continually claimed - may have been more civil toward Kurt than her." The quote is taken from this url: http://www.justiceforkurt.com/investigation/behind_the_scenes
.shtml.
The following is an extra reflection on Kurt's split: Regarding Heart-Shaped Box's video it seems to me that the kid must be around the age of 7 or 8, which was the time around which Kurt's parents divorced. It also coincides with the prescribing of Ritalin and also at around 7 is when the oedipal period is finished and thus a major repression is set in. Three phenomena converged and created a split in Kurt's personality.
