En realidad, como luego se ha sabido, más que poner un hombre en el espacio, existía la necesidad por ambos bandos de desarrollar la balística de los cohetes intercontinentales para afianzar el poder nuclear de ambas superpotencias. El inicio de la carrera espacial, para muchos una maniobra militar, sirvió para transladar la Guerra Fría a un nuevo escenario, como si de un juego de simulación y estrategia se tratase. El primero que llegase a la Luna tendría asegurada una importantísima victoria política sobre su contrincante que bien equivaldría a una forma más pacífica de conquistar terreno al enemigo. En este juego participamos de la carrera espacial con el objetivo inicial de llevar un hombre a la luna. La complejidad del proceso y la dificultad que entraña a nivel estratégico es muy elevada, por lo que en principio jugaremos en modo fácil, que ya de por sí es complicado.
