The Merri Table Cafe

The Merri Table is CERES’ own purpose-built organic cafe, and is one of the most popular attractions in our community. We are open seven days a week for brekky and lunch,  and provide a relaxed, environmentally friendly dining experience. We offer welcoming, casual service, and a contemporary menu that caters for all tastes and dietary requirements, with many vegan and gluten free options. We operate within the CERES ethos of sustainability, community, and mindfulness of our planet, and all our profits go back to CERES to support our programmes.

Sustainable food choices are very important to us here at CERES and they link to all of the food enterprises we operate from what we stock in the CERES Grocery and Market to what features on the menu at The Merri Table. We take pride in the relationships that we have established with local farmers and trust in their products and processes. Our partnerships with farmers and producers support a localised food system that gives back to those who care for the earth and their produce/animals.
All of the meat and dairy products on The Merri Table menu are organic, free range and cruelty free.

Purchasing Policy
Are you hiring a room at CERES and also looking for morning tea or lunch options?
The Merri Table team provide delicious catering options Monday through to Friday for those groups who hire rooms in the CERES Van Raay Centre.

The catering menu offers a variety of morning tea and lunch options, all made here at CERES. All of the food served is organic, local and seasonal and we have delicious options for vegetarians, vegans and those who are gluten free.  We are able to cater to most group sizes and are able to ensure fresh, healthy food is available within the break times required by your meeting. Catering menu

If you would like to make a catering booking:

Please email us at (preferred) or phone: 03 9389 0166 (please note this is always not attended during service times)

You will need to:
Let us know the number of people requiring catering.
Let us know what times you would like your catering order.
Include any dietary restrictions with your order.
Confirm your order and finalise your payment one week prior to your catering booking.
Any additional food or beverage ordered must be paid for in full on the day of your event or beforehand.

At the moment we are unable to offer catering on weekends or for people who are not using the Van Raay rooms – our cafe is just too busy! Please speak with Venue Hire staff regarding alternative catering arrangements.

Alternatively your group may wish to dine in the beautiful restaurant space at The Merri Table. You can choose from breakfast and lunch dishes, ready to go savoury pastries and sandwiches, cakes and sweet treats as well as daily specials. You will need to book ahead for larger groups of 10 or more people.

Where we are

The Merri Table is the building on your left when you enter CERES through the main gates on the corner of Roberts and Stewart Streets. If you come in another gate, head up the hill.
