Firefighters are trying to contain a wildfire on the stunning beach headland that features on the Australian TV soap Home and Away. Australia's New South Wales state's Rural Fire Service (RFS) issued an emergency alert after a wildfire broke out in scrub on one of Sydney's northern beaches, local media reported. The fire was burning near the iconic lighthouse on Barrenjoey headland overlooking Palm beach, which often features in the TV soap Home and Away as Summer Bay. One building in the lighthouse complex was damaged, but the lighthouse itself was saved, firefighters said. About 80 firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control and they were helped by three aircraft which dropped water on the area. "There are some reports of some damage to some of the buildings there. However, RFS firefighters were able to quickly attack the fire in one of the buildings and hopefully limited the damage," said Alex Chesser, from the state's Rural Fire Service. No injuries were reported. Rural Fire Service officials later downgraded the threat to the area.
