Streeter John Seidell (born December 2, 1982) is an American comedian, writer, actor, and TV host. Seidell first gained popularity as part of the cast of CollegeHumor’s online skits, although he has written and edited the site’s front page before then. He got further attention when Prank Wars went viral, garnering tens of millions of views and a large amount of mainstream television attention all over the world which eventually lead to a TV-series called Pranked! on MTV with fellow CollegeHumor editor, Amir Blumenfeld. He is currently Executive Editor of CollegeHumor.com.
The pranks eventually became more and more drastic, making it a regular, much-anticipated series on the site. One of the site’s most viewed of videos of all time is that of Seidell pranking Amir. In the video, Seidell convinces a sold-out stadium to cheer when Amir attempts to shoot a basketball blindfolded, even if he does not actually make the shot, to get Amir to believe that he had actually won $500,000 dollars. The video went viral on the internet and gained a substantial amount of mainstream television attention all over the world including Italy, Germany, Israel, even as far as Japan. The two also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to be interviewed for the Half Million Dollar Shot prank in the same month. They appeared for a second time to discuss their new show, Pranked.
The latest video as of date is PrankWar 8: Skydiving.
The series sparked an increase of prank-based viral videos on youtube and all over the internet with even a few highschool students attempting to recreate several of the pranks. This also lead to Seidell and Amir landing a show on MTV entitled Pranked. Seidell and Blumenfeld host the show wherein they curate a compilation of videos from various sources on the internet. The show recently started its 3rd season on November 4, 2010.
