Expedition 33 Commander Suni Williams concludes her tour of the International Space Station with a visit to the Russian segment, which includes Zarya, the first segment of the station launched in 1998, and Zvezda, the central command post. She also takes a look at the Poisk and Rassvet modules where Soyuz spacecraft are docked. Zarya was the first ISS module. This Kerbal Space Program launch simulates that as close as I could without going crazy. ;) Forum pages: Alexandria: http://goo.gl/slDlEF Odyssey: http://goo.gl/Wq5Urp Gateway: http://goo.gl/9PznwT Simple Part Organizer: http://goo.gl/mTHL5X Git repo: http://goo.gl/K3PNkt Mods & Installing: http://goo.gl/fS4Ww1 Zarya Files: http://goo.gl/G6G8ce Music by Kevin MacLeod (http://incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
Video of the launch of the Zarya Control Module, the first component of the International Space Station. Zarya launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, on Nov. 20, 1998, on a Russian Proton Rocket.
The installation of the Russian Mini Research Module-1, Rassvet, meaning "dawn," to the nadir port of the International Space Station's Zarya module is among the highlights of STS-132's fifth day of spaceflight.
Zarya (Russian: Заря́; lit. Red Sky Glow, Aurora, Sunrise), also known as the Functional Cargo Block or FGB (from the Russian "Функционально-грузовой блок", Funktsionalno-gruzovoy blok or ФГБ), was the first module of the International Space Station to be launched. The FGB design was originally intended as a module for the Soviet / Russian Mir space station, but was not flown as of the end of the Mir program. A FGB cargo block was incorporated as an upper stage engine into the Soviet Polyus spacecraft. With the end of the Mir program, the design was adapted to use for the International Space Station. The Zarya is a descendant of the TKS spacecraft designed for the Soviet Salyut program. The name Zarya, which means sunrise, was given to the FGB because it signified the dawn of a new era of ...
Zvezda (Russian: Звезда́, meaning "star"), DOS-8, also known as the Zvezda Service Module, is a component of the International Space Station (ISS). It provides all of the station's life support systems, some of which are supplemented in the USOS, as well as living quarters for two crew members. It is the structural and functional center of the Russian portion of the station - the Russian Orbital Segment. The module was manufactured by RKK Energia, with major sub-contracting work by GKNPTs Khrunichev. Zvezda was launched on a Proton rocket on July 12, 2000 and docked with the Zarya module on July 26. The basic structural frame of Zvezda, known as "DOS-8", was initially built in the mid-1980s to be the core of the Mir-2 space station. This means that Zvezda is similar in layout to the core ...
This is the launch of the Zarya module in KSP. This is the first part to a multi episode series where each historical mission is done in order to complete the ISS. Subscribe to see the end result. Some mods will be used in future videos. Mech Jeb and Space Y rocket parts are in this video. Music is The New World Symphany

This is a speed up version of me building the Zarya Module for my "Remaking the ISS" series. I use all stock parts and my intent is to replicate the original in overall design only. What I use in my ISS series turns out to be different than this in small ways. 1) I end up using a lander can instead of manipulating the large adapter into a sphere. I felt that since the Zarya module is a pressurized vessel allowing crew inside, I should have a way to allow Kerbals in this craft as well. 2) I ended up included 6 small batteries and placed them under the small radiator panels. The real Zarya module has 6 nickel-cadmium batteries that I wanted to replicate. 3) I rotated the main engines out on both sides to more closely resemble the real thing.
