Central is a Purple Line station of the Chicago Transit Authority 'L' system. Located at 1024 Central Street in Evanston, Illinois (directional coordinates 2600 north, 1000 west), the elevated platform sits above Central Street, half a block west of Ridge Avenue. The station itself, a Beaux-Arts structure designed by noted transit architect Arthur Gerber, is on the south side of Central Street and is entered at street level, with an auxiliary exit on the north side of the street.
The station was built close by to landmarks that include the Evanston Hospital and offices of NorthShore University HealthSystem, an Evanston fire station, Canal Shores Golf Course, and Chandler Newburger Recreation Center. Ryan Field, home of the Northwestern University Wildcats football team, and Welsh-Ryan Arena, home of Northwestern's basketball team, are a few blocks west of the station. Just west of Ryan Field on the north side of the street is the locally famous hot dog stand, Mustard's Last Stand. A few blocks further west is the Central Street station on Metra's Union Pacific/North Line. Less than a mile separate the two rail stations.
Central is a station of the Jacksonville Skyway in Jacksonville, Florida and the transfer point for the system's Northbank and Southbank lines. It is located on Bay Street between Pearl and Julia Streets in Downtown Jacksonville. The station is near the Jacksonville Landing.
The Central station was one of the three original Jacksonville Skyway stations that opened in June 1989. At the time it was the eastern terminus of the line, which ran west to Jefferson station and Terminal station (now Convention Center station). The station was revamped in 1997, when the Skyway system switched from Matra to Bombardier Transportation technology. It was designed as a transfer hub for subsequent extensions to the north and south, which were completed in 1997 and 1998, respectively. It allows transfer between trains heading east from Jefferson station and north from San Marco station. Additionally, the station was constructed to accommodate a future eastern expansion along Bay Street.
Central (also called Central Square) is an MBTA Red Line subway station located at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue with Western Avenue, Prospect Street, and Magazine Street at Central Square, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It also includes a street-level bus terminal for local routes.
Central Square station opened along with Park Street Under, Kendall Square station, and Harvard Square station on March 23, 1912. Several 1912-built tile mosaics displaying the station name are still visible above the platforms. Similar mosaics are visible at a number of other older MBTA stations, including South Station and Broadway on the Red Line.
On January 26, 1978, heavy rains flooded the station.
In the mid 1980s, the platforms were extended at many early-built Red Line stations, allowing 6-car trains to be run beginning in January 1988. The platforms at Central were extended to the northwest (contrary to original plans for the southeast) in 1984, with new entrances placed west of Prospect Street. The row of arches and columns between the tracks was not extended when the station was lengthened, making the extensions visually distinct from the original station area.
Central station is a common name for railroad stations.

The Jacksonville Florida Monorail is a unique automated people mover monorail system consitisting of three branches.
I’m in downtown Jacksonville, Florida early in the morning on a spring day. I make a quick stop by the Friendship Fountain and then catch the Jacksonville Skyway. It is a free monorail system operated by the Jacksonville Transit Authority and runs across the St. John’s River connecting the North bank and South bank of downtown. The system is 2.5 miles of track. It is a totally automated system. I enjoyed it and had a positive experience using it. It offers some great views of downtown Jacksonville.
Downtown Jax has a above ground tram like system called the skyway. It doesn't work as good as it could but it works nevertheless. Here is footage of pretty much most of what the skyway covers, some of downtown jacksonville. It is a bumpy ride so holding a camera and sitting down whilst keeping it steady was an issue.

The lady with the faint moustache
She's out of face from smoking hash
She says she's on the gain for cash
She tells it to lads yesterday
Both liked it the normal way
And tells me of a usual pay
Down in central station
Waiting on my friend
The girl who works at Casey Jones
She's making meat from broken bones
And answers all the telephones
The old boy who's been on the wine
He reads aloud his broken lines
And tells me that his sun don't shine
Down in central station
Waiting on my friend
Down in central station
This day will never end
The lady's off to pay her rent
And bitch about the government
With every hour that heaven sent
Casey Jones has closed its doors
They've cleaned the tables
Bleached the floors
And the old boy's off to drink some more
Down in central station
Waiting on my friend
Down in central station
This day will never end
This day will never end
