When I was in the corporate world, before I ventured into sales and marketing I had the privilege of meeting and hosting Mr. Lou Holtz. This man is a great coach, mentor and leader. As we set in his hotel room, he was signing and autographing footballs I picked his brain on leadership. His humbleness and wisdom stunned me. This was probably one of the most valuable 40 minutes of my life.
The following is a talk he did the day I hosted him to a group of business owners in the franchising industry. I hope you enjoy the talk on leadership. This is full of what I call Lifes Golden Nuggets.

Former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz told CNN host Carol Costello why he has
endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump for president.
Lou Holtz:
“When you look at this country, we have less people working than we have in the last 40 years. We have more people on food stamps than we had. More people on welfare. And yet the budget has gone up unbelievable. Our debt is over $20 trillion now. I think he’s a businessman. Now, I can never say anything against our president, because he is my president. But he talked about hope and change. He was a community organizer. Why does that make him more qualified than a very successful businessman that’s employed thousands of people?”
Coach Holtz blamed political correctness for many of America’s problems.
Lou Holtz:
“I’m not here to judge Donald Trump. But I want to tell you, Carol, one thing that entices him to a lot of these voters, is he doesn’t worry about political correctness. And if there’s one thing that’s really hurting this country greatly is political correctness. I grew up, I was smaller and slower than everybody else and much stupider. Everybody made fun of me. Everybody ridiculed me. People picked fights on me. Picked on me, but you know what? That’s part of life. You learn how to handle it and you move on. And everything’s about political correctness. You can’t do anything today without political correctness. And he doesn’t worry about it.”

Louis Leo "Lou" Holtz (born January 6, 1937) is a retired American football coach, and active sportscaster, author, and motivational speaker. He served as the head football coach at The College of William & Mary (1969–1971), North Carolina State University (1972–1975), the University of Arkansas (1977–1983), the University of Minnesota (1984–1985), the University of Notre Dame (1986–1996), and the University of South Carolina (1999–2004), compiling a career record of 249–132–7. Holtz's 1988 Notre Dame team went 12–0 with a victory in the Fiesta Bowl and was the consensus national champion. Holtz is the only college football coach to lead six different programs to bowl games and the only coach to guide four different programs to the final top 20 rankings. Holtz also coached the New York Jets of the NFL during the 1976 season.
Over the years, the slender, bespectacled Holtz has become known for his quick wit and ability to inspire players. He is often found as a guest on the popular Richmond, Virginia based Kain Road Radio. In 2005, Holtz joined ESPN as a college football analyst. On May 1, 2008, Holtz was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American business magnate, television personality and author. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts. Trump's extravagant lifestyle, outspoken manner and role on the NBC reality show The Apprentice have made him a well-known celebrity who was No. 17 on the 2011 Forbes Celebrity 100 list. He is well-known as a real-estate developer who amassed vast hotel, casino, and other real-estate properties, in the New York City area and around the world.
Trump is the son of Fred Trump, a wealthy New York City real-estate developer. He worked for his father's firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son, while attending the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and in 1968 officially joined the company. He was given control of the company in 1971 and renamed it The Trump Organization.
In 2010, Trump expressed an interest in becoming a candidate for President of the United States in the 2012 election. In May 2011, he announced he would not be a candidate, but a few weeks later he said he had not completely ruled out the possibility. In December 2011, Trump was suggested as a possible Vice Presidential selection by Michele Bachmann. Bachmann has since suspended her presidential campaign.

And if there’s one thing that’s really hurting this country greatly is political correctness. I grew up, I was smaller and slower than everybody else and much stupider. Everybody made fun of me. Everybody ridiculed me. People picked fights on me. Picked on me, but you know what? That’s part of life. You learn how to handle it and you move on. And everything’s about political correctness. You can’t do anything today without political correctness. And he doesn’t worry about it.”

Holtz will take charge of the Legends, an alumni team made up of former Fighting Irish football players, for the NOTRE DAME JAPAN BOWL 2009 to be played at the 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome in Japans capital city on Saturday, July 25. The game against the Japanese national team will be the highlight of an eight-day visit to Tokyo to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Japan American Football Association (JAFA).
The Fighting Irish Legends will meet for a two-day mini camp in South Bend on July 17 and 18 next year, before heading east from July 19 to 26 as unique sporting ambassadors in Japan.
