Oakland Zoo Celebrates World Giraffe Day (Oakland Zoo - East Bay Zoological Society)

Teen Wild Guides and Docents will be on hand in the Zoo's African Veldt to lead fun and educational activities, face painting, and crafts. Four times throughout the day, visitors will be given the opportunity to feed the giraffes for $15 per person; the feeding station will be located behind the African Veldt, across from the lion exhibit ... The reticulated giraffes can be seen daily at the Zoo's African Veldt from 10.00am - 4.00pm....

For several years the Black Sigatoka disease (caused by the fungus, Mycosphaerella fijiensism) has been affecting local plantain production ... As such, NAREI has created demonstration plots in several farming communities (such as Clanbrook and Hand-en-Veldt, Region Four; Leguaan and Wakenaam, Region Three; and Golden Fleece and Queenstown, Region two) that were significantly affected by the disease....
