The Dunblane massacre was a multiple murder-suicide which occurred at Dunblane Primary School in the Scottish town of Dunblane on 13 March 1996.
Sixteen children and one adult were killed, in addition to the attacker, Thomas Watt Hamilton who committed suicide. It remains the deadliest single targeted mass homicide on children in the history of the United Kingdom.
Course of events
On 13 March 1996, unemployed former shopkeeper and former Scout leader Thomas Watt Hamilton (born Thomas Watt 10 May 1952) walked into the school armed with two 9 mm Browning HP pistols and two Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolvers. He was carrying 743 cartridges, and fired 109 times.
The subsequent police investigation revealed that Hamilton had loaded the magazines for his Browning with an alternating combination of full metal jacket and hollow point ammunition.
After gaining entry to the school, Hamilton made his way to the gymnasium and opened fire on a class of five- and six-year-olds, killing or wounding all but one person. Fifteen children and a teacher, Gwen Mayor, died at the scene.
Hamilton then left the gymnasium through the emergency exit. In the playground outside he fired a number of shots into a mobile classroom. A teacher in the mobile classroom had previously realised that something was wrong and told the children to hide under the tables.
A number of bullet holes were found in the children's chairs. He also fired at a group of children walking in a corridor, injuring one teacher. Hamilton went back into the gym and fired one shot with one of his two revolvers pointing upwards into his mouth, killing himself instantly.
A further eleven children and three adults were rushed to the hospital as soon as the emergency services arrived; one of these children was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Debate is raging in small community of Dunblane in Scotland over the future of the gymnasium where Wednesday's massacre occurred.
16 children and their teacher were killed in the gymnasium by a lone gunman who then committed suicide.
Many in the community feel the building should be demolished as they no longer want to use it but the council is arguing against it.
Floral tributes continued to mount up at the school gates of Dunblane Primary School Thursday as the community tried to come to terms with Wednesday's horrific events.
Hundreds of bouquets were delivered throughout the day as the school itself remained closed and under police guard.
The future of the school's gymnasium where the gunman went on his fatal shooting spree is now being hotly debated.
Many children do not like the thought of having to go back in there and some parents are calling for it to be demolished.
SOUNDBITE:
We didn't know what was going on and we weren't allowed to know and when I was going to the toilet, when we were allowed out I saw these gun shots in they gym window and I didn't know really what was going on and we heard that Mrs. Harold had been shot and that's when I knew the story.

Her father is one of those who believes the gym should be pulled down.

"I think it will be very difficult over the next few days, I think Monday's going to be extremely difficult when they go back off to school. I think the gymnasium is going to be unusable, I mean Eilidh is saying she doesn't want to go in to the gym and I don't think any of the teachers will want to go in there and I think they're going to have to probably bulldoze that and do something different with it."

As they pass by the school, his wife Eileen is moved to tears like so many in the community and throughout the country.
The question of the gym was also debated at a meeting attended by the local council representatives.
They are against the demolition idea.

The school is part of that and the school is going to be part of the rebuilding of that, clearly we've got to listen to the community and we've got to respond to the community. In memory of the victims of the Dunblane Massacre, who lives were tragically taken away so young and so cruelly. Dunblane, Scotland, on March 13th 1996 Thomas Hamilton walked into Dunblane Primary School with a fully loaded gun, he then made his way to the gym hall, and opened fire on a class of 5 and 6 year olds, he shoots dead 15 children and their teacher Gwen Mayor who bravely sheilded the children, 11 other children were wounded. 1 of those children later died. Nobody know's why this evil man did such a cruel and unforgiven thing, because the evil coward then took his own life in the massacre.
May we never forget those innocent lifes who were taken from this world far to soon.

Why was Sandy Hook so familiar to me? A close examination of the Dunblane Massacre that happened in Central Scotland, on the 13th March 1996, and the alleged, December 14th 2012 School Shooting in Newtown Connecticut in mind. The Dunblane event resulted in a total ban on handguns in the UK. Was Dunblane a REAL event? I believe so. There was, however, a massive ‘cover-up’ in the Public Inquiry, and a lot of evidence to suggest it was a ‘False Flag’ event. Did the US Government borrow the narrative for Sandy Hook ? Well, that’s what I hope to explore.

Dunblane (Scottish Gaelic: Dùn Bhlàthain) is a small cathedral city and former burgh north of Stirling in the Stirling council area of Scotland. The town is situated off the A9 road, on the way north to Perth. Its main landmark is Dunblane Cathedral and the Allan Water runs through the town centre, with the Cathedral and the High Street on the east side. Dunblane had a population of 7,911 at the 2001 census, although this was estimated to have grown to 8,840 by 2006. The civil parish of Dunblane and Lecropt had a population of 8,863 in 2001.
The town is served by Dunblane railway station.
The name Dunblane is traditionally believed to mean "fort of Blane". This early saint (Old Irish Bláán) flourished probably in the late 6th century. His main seat was Kingarth on the Isle of Bute. He or his followers may have founded a church at Dunblane, or the cult of Bláán may have come there with settlers from what is now Argyll in later centuries. However, documentary information from this period is difficult to verify. The spelling of Dunblane varies wildly between these documents, casting some doubt as to the actual derivation from the Gaelic.

Andrew "Andy" Murray (born 15 May 1987) is a Scottish professional tennis player, ranked No. 4 in the world, and was ranked No. 2 from 17 to 31 August 2009. Dunblane, Scotland, on March 13th 1996 Thomas Hamilton walked into Dunblane Primary School with a fully loaded gun, he then made his way to the gym hall, and opened fire on a class of 5 and 6 year olds, he shoots dead 15 children and their teacher Gwen Mayor who bravely sheilded the children, 11 other children were wounded. 1 of those children later died. Nobody know's why this evil man did such a cruel and unforgiven thing, because the evil coward then took his own life in the massacre. A close examination of the Dunblane Massacre that happened in Central Scotland, on the 13th March 1996, and the alleged, December 14th 2012 School Shooting in Newtown Connecticut in mind. The Dunblane event resulted in a total ban on handguns in the UK. Was Dunblane a REAL event? I believe so. Their mothers spoke of their horror at what they called a senseless tragedy and said they would never forget teacher Gwenne Mayor and the 16 children who died in the attack. The parents of two of the children who survived the Dunblane massacre spoke to the media at the Stirling Police Station Saturday. 16 children and their teacher, Gwenne Mayor, were killed when crazed gunman Thomas Hamilton went on a killing spree during a gym class on Wednesday morning. The parents of the injured pupils said they realised they were the lucky ones but added their feelings went out to those parents who had lost children in the tragedy. SOUNDBITE: "My only child Amy Hutchison was shot in the knee on Wednesday whilst in her gym class. Amy is five years old. The doctors operated on Amy again yesterday and we're all pleased that she is doing well although she is still in a lot of pain. All our family are finding it really difficult to believe that this tragedy happened in Dunblane. Most of the families involved knew each other and the children were all friends. The hospital staff have been wonderful and I'd like to thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart, the staff at Dunblane Primary School and the emergency services. We have received kind messages of support from lots of people and gifts from strangers and I am now learning the best way to explain to Amy what has happened but it is very hard knowing what is the right thing to say. All the parents whose children were in Mrs. Mayor's class felt the same agony and terror whilst waiting on news of which children were hurt. I thank God that I am lucky enough to have Amy with me and I feel so sad and upset for the parents who have lost their children....(stops to cry) My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who is suffering because of this awful senseless tragedy. Ron Taylor, headmaster at the school for just over two years, has been hailed as a hero for how he coped with the massacre at his school. Meanwhile, the parents of a boy who was injured in the shooting have expressed their profound relief at the fact that their son was spared, when so many others died. Ron Taylor is the headmaster of Dunblane Primary School, which is now closed and under police guard. The school still bears the scars of Wednesday's tragedy... Armed with four handguns, lone gunman Thomas Hamilton entered the school, went to the gymnasium and started shooting at the class of five and six year olds inside. After he had killed 16 children and their teacher and wounded many others, he turned the gun on himself. Headmaster Ron Taylor was the first into the gymnasium after the shooting. SOUNDBITE: "The scene that met us in the hall, in the gym, was just utterly appalling and one's worst nightmare. I can't get the images out of my head yet and I think that will take some time. It was an appalling mess." (Question: Were you able to do anything?) "We did what we could, we tried, we tried to stem the blood, we just did what we could." (Question: How were the children?) "The children were traumatised, the ones who were injured but still conscious were very distressed. We managed to get those out fairly quickly because it was just an appalling scene and then the police were very quickly on the scene and together we tried to identify those who were still alive and whose wounds could possibly be treated, there were so many of them." One grasped it instantly, the guy was there and it was obvious what had happened. But no I was unprepared for what we faced." On 13 March 1996, a gunman walked into a primary school in the small Scottish town of Dunblane near Stirling, and shot dead 16 pupils and their teacher in a Primary 1 gym class. To date, it is one of the deadliest firearms atrocities in the UK. The Dunblane massacre was a multiple murder-suicide which occurred at Dunblane Primary School in the Scottish town of Dunblane on 13 March 1996.
Sixteen children and one adult were killed, in addition to the attacker, Thomas Watt Hamilton who committed suicide. It remains the deadliest single targeted mass homicide on children in the history of the United Kingdom.
Course of events
On 13 March 1996, unemployed former shopkeeper and former Scout leader Thomas Watt Hamilton (born Thomas Watt 10 May 1952) walked into the school armed with two 9 mm Browning HP pistols and two Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolvers. He was carrying 743 cartridges, and fired 109 times.
The subsequent police investigation revealed that Hamilton had loaded the magazines for his Browning with an alternating combination of full metal jacket and hollow point ammunition.
After gaining entry to the school, Hamilton made his way to the gymnasium and opened fire on a class of five- and six-year-olds, killing or wounding all but one person. Fifteen children and a teacher, Gwen Mayor, died at the scene.
Hamilton then left the gymnasium through the emergency exit. In the playground outside he fired a number of shots into a mobile classroom. A teacher in the mobile classroom had previously realised that something was wrong and told the children to hide under the tables.
A number of bullet holes were found in the children's chairs. He also fired at a group of children walking in a corridor, injuring one teacher. Hamilton went back into the gym and fired one shot with one of his two revolvers pointing upwards into his mouth, killing himself instantly.
A further eleven children and three adults were rushed to the hospital as soon as the emergency services arrived; one of these children was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

16 children and their teacher were killed in the gymnasium by a lone gunman who then committed suicide.
Many in the community feel the building should be demolished as they no longer want to use it but the council is arguing against it.
Floral tributes continued to mount up at the school gates of Dunblane Primary School Thursday as the community tried to come to terms with Wednesday's horrific events.
Hundreds of bouquets were delivered throughout the day as the school itself remained closed and under police guard.
The future of the school's gymnasium where the gunman went on his fatal shooting spree is now being hotly debated.
Many children do not like the thought of having to go back in there and some parents are calling for it to be demolished.

We didn't know what was going on and we weren't allowed to know and when I was going to the toilet, when we were allowed out I saw these gun shots in they gym window and I didn't know really what was going on and we heard that Mrs. Harold had been shot and that's when I knew the story.

Dunblane, Scotland, on March 13th 1996 Thomas Hamilton walked into Dunblane Primary School with a fully loaded gun, he then made his way to the gym hall, and opened fire on a class of 5 and 6 year olds, he shoots dead 15 children and their teacher Gwen Mayor who bravely sheilded the children, 11 other children were wounded. 1 of those children later died. Nobody know's why this evil man did such a cruel and unforgiven thing, because the evil coward then took his own life in the massacre.
May we never forget those innocent lifes who were taken from this world far to soon.

In memory of the victims of the Dunblane Massacre, who lives were tragically taken away so young and so cruelly. Dunblane, Scotland, on March 13th 1996 Thomas Hamilton walked into Dunblane Primary School with a fully loaded gun, he then made his way to the gym hall, and opened fire on a class of 5 and 6 year olds, he shoots dead 15 children and their teacher Gwen Mayor who bravely sheilded the children, 11 other children were wounded. 1 of those children later died. Nobody know's why this evil man did such a cruel and unforgiven thing, because the evil coward then took his own life in the massacre.
May we never forget those innocent lifes who were taken from this world far to soon.

The families of two children who survived Wednesday's massacre in Dunblane, Scotland, have talked about their ordeal.
The children were wounded but are recovering.
Their mothers spoke of their horror at what they called a senseless tragedy and said they would never forget teacher Gwenne Mayor and the 16 children who died in the attack.
The parents of two of the children who survived the Dunblane massacre spoke to the media at the Stirling Police Station Saturday.
16 children and their teacher, Gwenne Mayor, were killed when crazed gunman Thomas Hamilton went on a killing spree during a gym class on Wednesday morning.
The parents of the injured pupils said they realised they were the lucky ones but added their feelings went out to those parents who had lost children in the tragedy.
SOUNDBITE:
"My only child Amy Hutchison was shot in the knee on Wednesday whilst in her gym class. Amy is five years old. The doctors operated on Amy again yesterday and we're all pleased that she is doing well although she is still in a lot of pain. All our family are finding it really difficult to believe that this tragedy happened in Dunblane. Most of the families involved knew each other and the children were all friends. The hospital staff have been wonderful and I'd like to thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart, the staff at Dunblane Primary School and the emergency services. We have received kind messages of support from lots of people and gifts from strangers and I am now learning the best way to explain to Amy what has happened but it is very hard knowing what is the right thing to say. All the parents whose children were in Mrs. Mayor's class felt the same agony and terror whilst waiting on news of which children were hurt. I thank God that I am lucky enough to have Amy with me and I feel so sad and upset for the parents who have lost their children....(stops to cry) My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who is suffering because of this awful senseless tragedy. We will never forget Mrs. Mayor or the 16 innocent little ones who died. I am just trying to concentrate on helping Amy to get better now and I know I am lucky to have the chance to do that."

Ron Taylor, headmaster at the school for just over two years, has been hailed as a hero for how he coped with the massacre at his school.
Meanwhile, the parents of a boy who was injured in the shooting have expressed their profound relief at the fact that their son was spared, when so many others died.
Ron Taylor is the headmaster of Dunblane Primary School, which is now closed and under police guard.
The school still bears the scars of Wednesday's tragedy...
Armed with four handguns, lone gunman Thomas Hamilton entered the school, went to the gymnasium and started shooting at the class of five and six year olds inside.
After he had killed 16 children and their teacher and wounded many others, he turned the gun on himself.
Headmaster Ron Taylor was the first into the gymnasium after the shooting.
SOUNDBITE:
"The scene that met us in the hall, in the gym, was just utterly appalling and one's worst nightmare. I can't get the images out of my head yet and I think that will take some time. It was an appalling mess."
(Question: Were you able to do anything?)
"We did what we could, we tried, we tried to stem the blood, we just did what we could."
(Question: How were the children?)
"The children were traumatised, the ones who were injured but still conscious were very distressed. We managed to get those out fairly quickly because it was just an appalling scene and then the police were very quickly on the scene and together we tried to identify those who were still alive and whose wounds could possibly be treated, there were so many of them."
(Question: Were you aware of what had happened, how much did you grasp of what was going on?)
"I wasn't really aware at all of what was happening. I was totally unprepared for what we faced. One grasped it instantly, the guy was there and it was obvious what had happened. But no I was unprepared for what we faced."

As he spoke of the ordeal, it was clear that he, like many others, was still battling to come to terms with the shocking reality of what had happened.

It features, for the first time, testimony from a survivor who was shot as a five-year-old and who details her own terrifying experience that no child should endure.
Other interviewees include Ron Taylor, the headmaster of Dunblane Primary School at the time of the shootings, Debbie Mayor, the daughter of Gwen Mayor, the primary teacher who was shot dead, and two young women from separate families who talk about the sisters they never knew and the gap it has left in their lives. Other contributors include parents of the survivors and the deceased. Between them, they construct a powerful exploration of whether time can heal all wounds and love can triumph over evil.

That was so tiny town. The Path was so beautiful.

Delicious evening meal, too!
That little market towns of Bedale was good, too.

It was time to leave Scotland but before I did, had a few loose ends to film, first I left the hotel at Charring Cross and walked it to Glasgow Queen Street station to board a Class 170 DMU and met Jake Neill for the last time to Edinburgh Waverley, once a Edinburgh Waverley, I was there for the final day of the Great Britain VII railtour, featuring 60009 Union of South Africa and 46233 Duchess of Sutherland which you will see later on in the video.
After filming the empty stock and the departure of the A4 in Edinburgh, I went to Haymarket to film some First ScotRail DMUs, Class 334s and CrossCountry services, there were no Virgin Trains and First TransPennine Express due to engineering work on the West Coast Main Line, after an hour, went outside the station and filmed some Edinburgh CAR Urbos 3 Trams which were on test but after 30 minutes, went back to the station and boarded a First ScotRail Class 158 to Edinburgh Waverley to board my East Coast Class 43 HST to York, this includes speeding through Berwick-Upon-Tweed and over the Royal border bridge, leaving Morpeth and passing through Manors, departing Newcastle and overtaking a late running Great Britain VII with A4 60009 Union of South Africa still on the train.
At York a quick clip of George Stephenson's Rocket at the National Railway Museum but it was back to the railway station to film LNER A4 60009 Union of South Africa arriving and being taken off the Great Britain VII Railtour for 46233 Duchess of Sutherland.

It was time to leave Scotland but before I did, had a few loose ends to film, first I left the hotel at Charring Cross and walked it to Glasgow Queen Street station to board a Class 170 DMU and met Jake Neill for the last time to Edinburgh Waverley, once a Edinburgh Waverley, I was there for the final day of the Great Britain VII railtour, featuring 60009 Union of South Africa and 46233 Duchess of Sutherland which you will see later on in the video.
After filming the empty stock and the departure of the A4 in Edinburgh, I went to Haymarket to film some First ScotRail DMUs, Class 334s and CrossCountry services, there were no Virgin Trains and First TransPennine Express due to engineering work on the West Coast Main Line, after an hour, went outside the station and filmed some Edinburgh CAR Urbos 3 Trams which were on test but after 30 minutes, went back to the station and boarded a First ScotRail Class 158 to Edinburgh Waverley to board my East Coast Class 43 HST to York, this includes speeding through Berwick-Upon-Tweed and over the Royal border bridge, leaving Morpeth and passing through Manors, departing Newcastle and overtaking a late running Great Britain VII with A4 60009 Union of South Africa still on the train.
At York a quick clip of George Stephenson's Rocket at the National Railway Museum but it was back to the railway station to film LNER A4 60009 Union of South Africa arriving and being taken off the Great Britain VII Railtour for 46233 Duchess of Sutherland.
