Osaka (大阪, Ōsaka?) 
listen (help·info) is a city in the Kansai region of Japan's main island of Honshu, a designated city under the Local Autonomy Law, the capital city of Osaka Prefecture and also the biggest part of Keihanshin area, which is represented by three major cities of Japan, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe. Located at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay, Osaka is the third largest city by population after Tokyo (special wards) and Yokohama.
Keihanshin is the second largest area in Japan by population and one of the largest metropolitan areas highly ranked in the world, with nearly 18 million people, and by GDP the second largest area in Japan and the seventh largest area in the world.
Historically the commercial centre of Japan, Osaka functions as one of the command centers for the Japanese economy. The ratio between daytime and night time population is 141%, the highest in Japan, highlighting its status as an economic center. Its nighttime population is 2.6 million, the third in the country, but in daytime the population surges to 3.7 million, second only after Tokyo (combining the Special wards of Tokyo, which is not a single incorporated city, for statistical purposes. Osaka used to be referred to as the "nation's kitchen" (天下の台所, tenka no daidokoro?) in feudal Edo period because it was the centre of trading for rice, creating the first modern futures exchange market in the world.

A day in Japan! I travelled from Tokyo to Osaka by Peach Airways! Travelling from Tokyo to Osaka by Shinkansen (bullet train) can get very expensive, sometimes it is cheaper to travel by plane! Usually tickets are around $150 for a bullet train ticket and I got my plane ticket for $40! I met up with some friends and hung out around Umeda and also went to the Pokemon Center too! Osaka is known as Japan's kitchen and for good reason! It's loaded with some of the best and cheapest restaurants and street stands anywhere.

Osaka is known as Japan's kitchen and for good reason! It's loaded with some of the best and cheapest restaurants and street stands anywhere.
Enter Dotonbori, the old entertainment district of Osaka that's also ground zero for cheap and easy to find street food. John Daub and Kevin Riley, a long-term resident of Osaka take their stomachs down the Dotonbori strip. We also introduce a very Osakan word: "Kuidaore" meaning eat until you drop!
Street food on Dotonbori:
★ Takoyaki
Called "octopus ball" by newbies to Japan, these round treats normally come topped with a tangy thick soy sauce, Japanese mayonaise, and dried fish and seaweed. Some shops go even further adding half boiled eggs or mountains of green negi!
A bowl of 6 to 8 balls costs 380 to 450 Yen.
Recommended shop: Creo-Ru Takoyaki
★ Kushikatsu
Another Osaka specialty you can find at a few stands. It's skewered and battered meats and vegetables deep fried until golden. pTake each skewer and dip it once in the special bath bin near the table or register. You won't be disappointed! Vegetables start at 60 yen and meats at 150 yen. Large Tiger Shrimps can go for 380 yen for one! Prices are listed on the menu outside the shop.
★ Gyoza
Osaka has it's own variety of dumplings. What's different? It's cheaper and made in Osaka! 180 yen for 6 gyoza!
★ Ramen
A few shops serve up hot bowls on the street side. Get a ticket at the vending machine for about 600 yen and enjoy!
Recommended shop: Kinryu Ramen (The one with the Dragon!)
★ Crab legs
Who would have thought crab was big in Osaka, but one of the most dominant restaurants serve them char-grilled right at the front of the street. The also have kani miso or "crab brains" served in a half shell. 500 yen for that. Yum.
Recommended shop: Kani Doraku

The more you walk around, the more Dotonbori will surprise you.

Kyoto, Japan, has long been considered one of the country’s most beautiful cities. Once the capital of the nation, Kyoto is now an ultra-modern haven that retains a great deal of its ancient charm.
To see some of this long-established glamour, make your way to Kyoto Tower. Just two miles east of the tower is Gion, an entertainment quarter and home to many of Kyoto’s famous geishas. As you walk east through Gion, you’ll find even more old architecture, including several Ryokan, or traditional Japanese inns. Many date back to the Edo period, which ranged from 1603 to 1868.
During your Kyoto tour, take a rickshaw ride to the Sannen-zaka and Ninen-zaka districts, where cars are prohibited and traditional teahouses and temples adorn the nearby landscape. Kyoto is known as “The City of Ten Thousand Shrines” for good reason. Walk through the great open plazas of the Haian Shrine, or spend a quiet moment in the intimate confines of the Shorenin Temple and its beautiful gardens.
The most famous of Kyoto’s temples is Fushimi Inari-taisha, a stunning red complex that sprawls over Mount Inari, which is named after and dedicated to Inari, the fox spirit. A hike to the summit takes about two hours, and will lead you through thousands of colorful sub-shrines and thick, ancient forest. Once you’re at the top, you’ll have a stunning view of Kyoto.

10. Barcelona - The city is a pioneer in smart city and low-carbon solutions.
9. Hong Kong - The city has also been a leader in the use and adoption of smart cards, which are already used by millions of residents for services like public transit, library access, building access, shopping, and car parks.
8. Copenhagen - The city has committed to carbon neutrality by 2025 and 40% of its citizens regularly commute via bicycle.
7. Berlin - Berlin is testing out vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies in the hopes of creating a virtual power plant from electric vehicles.

4. New York - New York scored higher than most other cities in the ranking in all of the categories except of quality of life, where it ranked a poor 47th. It has teamed with innovator IBM to help the city prevent fires and protect first responders as well as identify questionable tax refund claims--a move that is expected to save the city about $100 million over a five-year period.
3. Paris - Paris already has a highly successful bike sharing program, Velib, and just last month, its mayor launched a similar model for small EVs called Autolib.
2. Toronto - smartest city in NA, scored well across the board, it is an active member of the Clinton 40 (C40) megacities, which seek to transition to the low-carbon economy. The private sector is getting in on the action too, setting up a Smart Commute Toronto initiative to increase the city's transit efficiency.
1. The smartest city in the world is Vienna - Vienna was the only city that ranked in the top 10 in every category. It is establishing bold smart-city targets and tracking their progress to reach these goals with programs like Smart Energy Vision 2050, Roadmap 2020, and Action Plan 2012-2015.
A smart city is defined as using information and communication technologies to be more intelligent and efficient in the use of resources, resulting in cost and energy savings, improved service delivery and quality of life, and reduced environmental footprint--all supporting innovation and the low-carbon economy.
The rankings were determined by the cities scores on 4 global categories: Innovation, Green ranking, Quality of life and digital city.

4. New York - New York scored higher than most other cities in the ranking in all of the categories except of quality of life, where it ranked a poor 47th. It has teamed with innovator IBM to help the city prevent fires and protect first responders as well as identify questionable tax refund claims--a move that is expected to save the city about $100 million over a five-year period.
3. Paris - Paris already has a highly successful bike sharing program, Velib, and just last month, its mayor launched a similar model for small EVs called Autolib.
2. Toronto - smartest city in NA, scored well across the board, it is an active member of the Clinton 40 (C40) megacities, which seek to transition to the low-carbon economy. The private sector is getting in on the action too, setting up a Smart Commute Toronto initiative to increase the city's transit efficiency.
1. The smartest city in the world is Vienna - Vienna was the only city that ranked in the top 10 in every category. It is establishing bold smart-city targets and tracking their progress to reach these goals with programs like Smart Energy Vision 2050, Roadmap 2020, and Action Plan 2012-2015.
A smart city is defined as using information and communication technologies to be more intelligent and efficient in the use of resources, resulting in cost and energy savings, improved service delivery and quality of life, and reduced environmental footprint--all supporting innovation and the low-carbon economy.
The rankings were determined by the cities scores on 4 global categories: Innovation, Green ranking, Quality of life and digital city.

A day in Japan! I travelled from Tokyo to Osaka by Peach Airways! Travelling from Tokyo to Osaka by Shinkansen (bullet train) can get very expensive, sometimes it is cheaper to travel by plane! Usually tickets are around $150 for a bullet train ticket and I got my plane ticket for $40! I met up with some friends and hung out around Umeda and also went to the Pokemon Center too! I also always spend time with my host family whilst in Japan so here is a bit of footage with them!

Why is Osaka Aquarium one of the coolest fishtanks in the world?
Osaka Aquarium houses 27 tanks and 16 main displays and is one of the bigger aquariums of the world. But what makes it special are also its interactive features and performances, where the display makes it able for audiences to see everything up close. It's giant deep sea tank is 9 meters (30 ft) deep and is stocked with everything from fishes, sharks, manta rays and a whale shark.
Four Reasons to visit Osaka Aquarium:
1. Osaka Aquarium's got friggin' humunga-noid fish!
I'm from Hawaii where our culture revolves around the ocean. But I'd never really seen enormous fish before. The closest I've come to gi-normous fish was in a Vietnamese village in the Mekong Delta, where a family had one giant lonely fish in a tank, that didn't seem big enough for it to do anything but float.
But at Osaka Aquarium, there were many giant fish and a much larger aquariums. Some fish looked like they could swallow a head whole.

Why is Osaka Aquarium one of the coolest fishtanks in the world?
Osaka Aquarium houses 27 tanks and 16 main displays and is one of the bigger aquariums of the world. But what makes it special are also its interactive features and performances, where the display makes it able for audiences to see everything up close. It's giant deep sea tank is 9 meters (30 ft) deep and is stocked with everything from fishes, sharks, manta rays and a whale shark.
Four Reasons to visit Osaka Aquarium:
1. Osaka Aquarium's got friggin' humunga-noid fish!
I'm from Hawaii where our culture revolves around the ocean. But I'd never really seen enormous fish before. The closest I've come to gi-normous fish was in a Vietnamese village in the Mekong Delta, where a family had one giant lonely fish in a tank, that didn't seem big enough for it to do anything but float.
But at Osaka Aquarium, there were many giant fish and a much larger aquariums. Some fish looked like they could swallow a head whole.

Takayuki Messer aus Sakai zeichnen sich durch eine überragende Qualität aus. Sakai ist eine traditionelle Klingenstadt südlich von Osaka. Sakai ist neben Seki eines der Zentren der japanischen Messerindustrie. Die Klingenstadt hat jedoch einen sehr traditionellen Ansatz gewählt. Hier arbeiten zahllose Meister arbeitsteilig nach seit Generationen kaum veränderten Verfahren. Die Takayuki Damascus Serie besteht aus 32 Lagen Damststahl mit einem Kern aus VG10. Die Härte beträgt im Kern 60± 1 HRC. Die sichtbare Hammerschlagoberfläche ist per Hand aufgebracht. Diese alte japanische Technik nennt man Tsuchime.
