The 1948 National Football League Championship game was the 16th NFL title game played. The game was a rematch of the previous year's championship game between the Chicago Cardinals, champions of the Western Division and the Philadelphia Eagles, champions of the Eastern Division. It was the first NFL championship game to be televised. In the early days of television, "snow" was a frequent problem, but in this case the snow was real. The grounds crew needed the help of players from both teams to remove the tarp from the field, because of the heavy snowfall.
The game (also known as the Philly Blizzard) was played at Philadelphia's Shibe Park on December 19, 1948 during a significant snowstorm. Bert Bell, commissioner of the NFL had considered postponing the game but the players for both teams wanted to play the game. The attendance for the game was 36,309. The teams played a scoreless game until early in the fourth quarter when, after Chicago had fumbled in their own end of the field, the Eagles recovered the fumble that set up Steve Van Buren's five yard touchdown at 1:05 into the fourth quarter.
This game turned out be the Cardinals' last appearance in any NFL Championship game until Super Bowl XLIII. Ironically, the Cardinals would have to beat the Eagles in the 2009 NFC Championship Game to get to the Super Bowl.

The Rams are moving back to L.A. after the NFL owners voted 30-2 to approve relocation of the franchise. What is St. Louis' loss is L.A.'s gain to become an NFL city once again. The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team based in Inglewood, California. The Los Angeles Rams compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the National Football Conference (NFC) West division. The Rams franchise have won three NFL championships and are the only franchise to win championships in three different cities.
The franchise began as the Cleveland Rams in 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio. The club was owned by Homer Marshman and featured players such as William "Bud" Cooper, Harry "The Horse" Mattos, Stan Pincura, and Mike Sebastian. Damon "Buzz" Wetzel joined as general manager. After winning the 1945 NFL Championship Game, the franchise moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1946 to become the Los Angeles Rams, making way for Paul Brown's Cleveland Browns of the All-America Football Conference and becoming the only NFL champion to play the following season in another city. The club played their home games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum from 1946 until 1979. Following the 1979 NFL season, the Rams franchise moved to Anaheim, California, playing home games at Anaheim Stadium for 15 seasons (1980–94). Prior to the 1995 season, the franchise moved to St. Louis. The St. Louis Rams were the second NFL team to be based in St. Louis; the St. Louis Cardinals (now the Arizona Cardinals) played there from 1960 to 1987. Following the 2015 NFL season, NFL owners voted 30–2 to approve the franchise's move back to Los Angeles.

Kenneth Michael "Ken" Stabler (December 25, 1945 – July 8, 2015), nicknamed "The Snake," was an American football quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for the Oakland Raiders (1970–1979), Houston Oilers (1980–1981) and New Orleans Saints (1982–1984). He played college football for the University of Alabama. Stabler was recruited by legendary head coach Bear Bryant at Alabama, joining the team in 1964. In the 1965 season, Stabler was used sparingly as a back-up to Steve Sloan at quarterback, following Namath's departure to the AFL. That year again, the Crimson Tide won their second consecutive National Championship, finishing the season with a record of 9-1-1. The team defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Orange Bowl, 39–28. As a junior in 1966, he took over the quarterback position full-time. He led the team to an undefeated, 11–0 season which ended in a 34–7 rout of Nebraska in the Sugar Bowl. Stabler finished his career at Alabama with a 28–3–2 record as a starter.
Stabler was drafted in the second round of the 1968 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. As a starter in Oakland, Stabler was named AFC player of the year in 1974 and 1976, and was the NFL's passing champion in 1976. In January 1977 he guided the Raiders to their first Super Bowl victory, a 32-14 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Stabler was traded to the Houston Oilers in 1980 & later to the New Orleans Saints in 1982. Stabler retired from the NFL in 1984. Following his retirement as a player, Stabler worked as a color commentator, first on CBS NFL telecasts, and then on radio with Eli Gold for Alabama football games. Stabler left before Alabama's 2008 season and was replaced by Tom Roberts.
Stabler died of colon cancer on July 8, 2015 at the age of 69. His family confirmed his death in a statement issued on July 9.

Two Of The Best Football Players Of The 1970’s
SNAKE, A REVERED LION, THE PRODUCER, THE IRISH TELEVISION STAR, AND THE MAN WHO MADE MONEY FROM BEES
Ken Stabler was the swashbuckling left-handed quarterback of the Oakland Raiders who led the team to the victory in Super Bowl XI. The NFL MVP in 1974, he may be the best player not in the NFL Hall of Fame. Charlie Sanders was the great tight end for the Detroit Lions of the 1970’s who is in the NFL Hall of Fame. He is generally regarded as one of top tight ends in football history. Jerry Weintraub was the talent agent and producer who produced The Karate Kid series and did shows for Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. Val Doonican was the Irish singer, popular on British television for over 20 years. Burt Shavitz founded the lip balm and cosmetic company “Burt’s Bees” that retains his logo today.
Kenneth Michael "Ken" Stabler (December 25, 1945 – July 8, 2015), nicknamed "The Snake", was an American football quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for the Oakland Raiders (1970–1979), Houston Oilers (1980–1981) and New Orleans Saints (1982–1984). He played college football for the University of Alabama.
Stabler became a highly touted football player at Foley High School in Foley, Alabama. He led Foley to a win-loss record of 29–1 over his high school career—the only loss coming against Vigor High School. He was an all-around athlete in high school, averaging 29 points a game in basketball and excelling enough as a left-handed pitcher in baseball to receive minor-league contract offers from the Houston Astros and New York Yankees. He was an all-american athlete. During his high school career, he earned his nickname "the Snake"[1] from his coach following a long, winding touchdown run.
Stabler was recruited by legendary head coach Bear Bryant at Alabama, joining the team in 1964. Due to National Collegiate Athletic Association regulations at the time, freshmen were ineligible to play; therefore, Stabler would sit out during the 1964 season. In that season, the Crimson Tide won the National Championship with quarterback Joe Namath.
In the 1965 season, Stabler was used sparingly as a back-up to Steve Sloan at quarterback,[2] following Namath's departure to the AFL. That year, the Crimson Tide won their second consecutive National Championship, finishing the season with a record of 9-1-1.
Despite the unblemished record, the Tide was snubbed by the polls, finishing in third behind Notre Dame and Michigan State.
Stabler finished his career at Alabama with a 28–3–2 record as a starter.
Charles Alvin Sanders (August 25, 1946 – July 2, 2015) was an American football player who played tight end for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League from 1968 to 1977. Sanders was chosen for the NFL's 1970s All-Decade Team and voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
Sanders graduated from James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he starred for the American football, baseball, and basketball teams.[1] He attended the University of Minnesota, where he played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.[2] He was named to the All-Big Ten Conference Team in his senior year, when he recorded 21 receptions for 276 yards with two touchdowns, as Minnesota tied for the Big Ten Conference championship with an 8–2 record.[3]
The Lions chose him in the third round of the 1968 NFL Draft, and he became their starting tight end for the next ten seasons. He had 336 career receptions for 4,817 yards and 31 touchdowns.[4][5] He was also known as a superior blocker. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl seven times (1968–1971 and 1974–1976).[5] He was the only rookie to be named to the 1969 Pro Bowl, following a season where he had 40 receptions for 533 yards.[6] Sanders was named to the All-Pro First Team for the 1970 and 1971 seasons, receiving the most votes of any player in both years.[7] During an exhibition game in 1976, Sanders injured his right knee, ending his career.[5]
Sanders was named to the NFL 1970s All-Decade Team as selected by voters of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.[6] Sanders was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 1997,[8] and the Minnesota M Club Hall of Fame in 2013.[3] In 2008, Sanders was chosen as a member of the Lions' 75th Anniversary All Time Team.[

PITTSBURGH -- Steelers' safety Troy Polamalu is calling it a career, retiring after 12 seasons in Pittsburgh, according to a report from Scout.com's Jim Wexell.
In Wexell's exclusive interview with Polamalu, the 8-time pro bowler says he called Dan Rooney on Thursday night to inform him he was retiring from football.
Polamalu tells Wexell that the Steelers had asked him to retire in February, but he resisted until this week. Polamalu played in 158 regular-season games, 15 playoff games and three Super Bowls, winning two championships. The Steelers' safety had 710 tackles, 35 interceptions and scored four touchdowns.

MLB 15 The Show Chicago Cubs Franchise is going to be the most fun on a franchise that you will ever see on YouTube!! I, myself, am a DIEHARD Cubs fan (yea, go ahead and laugh) I bleed Cubs Blue! In this Chicago Cubs Franchise I hope to accomplish these things! One, entertain you people with something that I love and have a deep passion for. Two, build the Cubs into a championship contending team. And three, BREAK THE CURSE OF THE BILLY GOAT! The Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908, and have not been to a World Series since 1945 when the Curse Of The Billy Goat was born! With my process of building teams, I will not trade with other teams, unless it is absolutely necessary! I like to build with draft picks and have them build through the farm system. I hope you guys enjoy this series as much as I do!
This Franchise does not start until the Operation Sports Rosters come out on April 15th. The reason for that is because I want to have the most authentic rosters in the game. I want to be able to use players like Kris Bryant (the future of the Chicago Cubs and possibly the face of Major League Baseball one day)!
This is a series where I also want to be more interactive with you guys!! Put in the comments of your questions that you have for me about upcoming games or reasons for my lineup or changes that I have made! Other places you can hit me up is on Twitter and the link is down below! I will respond to your comments in either a future video or if its on twitter I will more than likely respond to you unless told otherwise! This is something I hope you guys take full advantage of because you guys are going to be the main point of this series!
