Thend Partition of India was the partition of the British Indian Empire that led to the creation of the sovereign states of the Dominion of Pakistan (it later split into the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People's Republic of Bangladesh) and the Union of India (later Republic of India) on 15 August 1947. "Partition" here refers not only to the division of the Bengal province of British India into East Pakistan and West Bengal (India), and the similar partition of the Punjab province into Punjab (West Pakistan) and Punjab, India, but also to the respective divisions of other assets, including the British Indian Army, the Indian Civil Service and other administrative services, the railways, and the central treasury.
In the riots which preceded the partition in the Punjab region, between 200,000 to 500,000 people were killed in the retributive genocide. UNHCR estimates 14 million Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims were displaced during the partition; it was the largest mass migration in human history.

This is a 90-minute BBC documentary on the Partition of India and provides a good overview of the fateful events leading to that cataclysmic decision by the British and the catastrophic suffering of ordinary people caught in the crossfire of communal hatred. It describes in detail: (a) British motivation for leaving India after World War 2 in a quick and face-saving manner; (b) the underlying distrust of Hindus and Muslims of each other despite centuries of living together; (c) Muslim educational and economic backwardness relative to Hindus and their fear of Hindu domination in a united India; (d) the failure of the March 1946 Cabinet Mission in Simla on account of Nehru's refusal to a agree to a decentralized Subcontinent; (e) the beginning of the Hindu-Muslim communal riots with Jinnah's call for Direct Action in Calcutta in August 1946; (f) the desperate attempts made by Gandhi to effect Hindu-Muslim unity via appeal to their humanity; and (g) the pressure exerted on most Princely States to agree to ascension to India. It also describes: (h) the manipulation of people by political leaders in the name of religion; (i) the slaughter, looting, raping, and mayhem among different communities at the village level; (j) the deep reluctance of people to abandon their generational homes; (k) the brave attempts of certain individuals to save their neighbors of "other" communities from forcible ethnic and religious cleansing; (l) the horrific price paid by women for "defending" their "honor"; (m) the utter lack of governmental preparation for a mass migration of people; (n) the "needless" human carnage caused by Mountbatten's decision to expedite the planned Partition; and (o) the decline of hitherto culturally rich and cosmopolitan cities like Lahore by loss of "other" communities. This documentary was made in 2007.

The Partition of India (Hindi: भारत का विभाजन (Devanagari) Bhārat kā Vibhājan; Urdu: ہندوستان کی تقسیم (Nastaliq) Hindustān ki Taqsīm) was the partition of British India on the basis of religious demographics. This led to the creation of the sovereign states of the Dominion of Pakistan (later the Islamic Republic of Pakistan) and the Union of India (later Republic of India) which took place in 1947, on 14 and 15 August, respectively.
The partition of India was set forth in the Indian Independence Act 1947 and resulted in the dissolution of the Indian Empire and the end of the British Raj. It resulted in a struggle between the new states of India and Pakistan and displaced up to 12.5 million people in the former British Indian Empire, with estimates of loss of life varying from several hundred thousand to a million (most estimates of the numbers of people who crossed the boundaries between India and Pakistan in 1947 range between 10 and 12 million). The violent nature of the partition created an atmosphere of mutual hostility and suspicion between India and Pakistan that plagues their relationship to this day.

It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west;China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Burma and Bangladesh to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.
Home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Four of the world's major religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism—originated here, whereas Zoroastrianism, Christianity, and Islam arrived in the 1st millennium CE and also helped shape the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by and brought under the administration of the British East India Company from the early 18th century and administered directly by the United Kingdom from the mid-19th century, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi.

Hassan Nisar (Punjabi: حسن نثار) is a syndicated columnist and an analyst with his own talk show Choraha on Geo TV, Pakistan. His presentations are in Urdu. His commentaries in print media and television focusing on contemporary Pakistan, and the political history of Islam, have earned him both praise from liberal peers and scorn from Nationalist and religious elements in Pakistan.
Although Nisar is a veteran journalist, who has been involved with print media for more than a decade, he became a household name due to the rise of private TV channels in Pakistan followed by YouTube, where many of his TV appearances including Meray Mutabiq (Urdu: میرے مطابق) are regularly uploaded. He has also hosted a talk show, "Choraha" on Geo News.
He is criticized by fellow journalists for being biased against PML(N).[citation needed]

Thend Partition of India was the partition of the British Indian Empire that led to the creation of the sovereign states of the Dominion of Pakistan (it later split into the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the People's Republic of Bangladesh) and the Union of India (later Republic of India) on 15 August 1947. "Partition" here refers not only to the division of the Bengal province of British India into East Pakistan and West Bengal (India), and the similar partition of the Punjab province into Punjab (West Pakistan) and Punjab, India, but also to the respective divisions of other assets, including the British Indian Army, the Indian Civil Service and other administrative services, the railways, and the central treasury.
In the riots which preceded the partition in the Punjab region, between 200,000 to 500,000 people were killed in the retributive genocide. UNHCR estimates 14 million Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims were displaced during the partition; it was the largest mass migration in human history.

He describes how: (a) it is wrong to hold Jinnah responsible for the breakup of the Subcontinent; (b) Nehru deserves a significant portion of the blame on account of his insistence on a centralized India; (c) Jinnah was using the idea of Pakistan as a negotiating tactic to demand "space" for Muslims in a unified India; (d) Muslim feared domination by Hindu majority and wanted "assurances" in the form of a de-centralized polity and guaranteed representation in the center; (e) India needed a villain for the Partition and chose to demonize Jinnah; (f) Jinnah had no hatred towards Hindus or Hinduism; and (g) Partition could have been avoided had Gandhi or Azad handled the negotiations with Jinnah. It is also interesting to note Jaswant's admiration of Jinnah as an individual. British had ruled and exploited India for about 100 yrs not basically by force but by diplomacy and policy of DIVIDE AND RULE. The competition and differences between ruling Indian kings were utilized by them like all other invaders to this land in a masterly way. They joined sides and made agreements to share the land, money and power they will help one king to snatch from another. Same policy they followed when they were caught in a situation created by world war during which in round table conference they promised independence to this land. They had a vision now at a mega scale and they found Jinnah as a willing partner with a demand that congress which had been leading the mass peaceful moment for decades and was composed of all sections of society is challenged by Jinnah. A demand for separate nation for Muslims was honey to the ears of the British who were too sad to let their slaves free. There must not be pure pleasure and joy in this disgraceful departure and the home of the slaves now independent must by set on fire and by their own people. So, the genesis of partition. The leaders failed in their statesmanship and were caught as rats in the trap laid by cunning English cats. This lady is narrating such horrible stories which are hard to listen. She says she saw the breasts of ladies being amputated and bounced up in the air and the body parts of children cut into pieces being woven as a garland and put into the neck of the parents of those children - works of Devil.

They had a vision now at a mega scale and they found Jinnah as a willing partner with a demand that congress which had been leading the mass peaceful moment for decades and was composed of all sections of society is challenged by Jinnah. A demand for separate nation for Muslims was honey to the ears of the British who were too sad to let their slaves free. There must not be pure pleasure and joy in this disgraceful departure and the home of the slaves now independent must by set on fire and by their own people. So, the genesis of partition. The leaders failed in their statesmanship and were caught as rats in the trap laid by cunning English cats.
