Lindsey White (born 1980 Tulsa, Oklahoma) is a visual artist working across many disciplines including photography, video, sculpture, and book making. Her work has been described as "reveling in lighthearted gags and simple gestures to create an experience that is all the more satisfying for the puzzles it contains."
Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. White received her BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, OR and her MFA from the California College of Art in San Francisco, CA.
Her solo exhibitions include In That Case: Havruta in Contemporary Art at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco, CA. "Through video, photography, and sculpture, White models a type of site gag index, working with the language of magic and comedy to challenge ordinary perceptions by presenting the unexpected and impossible. Like a good joke, her work pits cartoonish occurrence against the mundane physicality of everyday life." White's work is fictionalizing an awkward stage moment, forming a joke in its own right. She has exhibited at places such as Museum Barengasse, Switzerland; Bolinas Art Museum, Bolinas, CA; Marylhurst Art Gym, Portland, OR; San Francisco International Airport Museum, San Francisco, CA; diRosa, Napa Valley, CA; ACME., Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco Arts Commission, San Francisco, CA; and Aurora Picture Show, Houston TX.
The Bridgetown Comedy Festival is a stand-up comedy festival located in the Hawthorne district of Portland, Oregon every spring, featuring standup comedy showcases, live podcasts, panel discussions and improv comedy. It was created in October 2007 by comedians Andy Wood and Matt Braunger and comedy fan Kim Brady.
In 2010, Ben Bateman of Willamette Week newspaper called Bridgetown "the fastest-growing comedy extravaganza in America." Successively larger and better-planned comedy festivals prompted one reviewer to comment, ". . . as usual, organizer Andy Wood and his royal army of geniuses outdid themselves. How can you make something already great even better? I'm not sure, but it happened." In late 2009, the Portland Mercury reviewed the festival, stating that, "Bridgetown (or should we say, Andy Wood) is changing Portland comedy" and the following year, the Portland Monthly stated that Wood "deserves several rounds of applause for making the fest happen . . . ." In his work as a comedy promoter, Andy Wood created a venue where the comedy market was struggling, and has promoted the venue to as a regional and national event. Part of Wood’s approach in creating ‘draw’ to a weak comedy market was to couple art with philanthropy. In 2014, Kristi Turnquist of The Oregonian wrote that "The annual event brings comedians from around the country together with some of the Northwest’s top acts, for four jam-packed days of hilarity."

Masada arrived in America at age 14. He worked multiple jobs in Hollywood to support his family back home, while also performing on the comedy circuit to build his stand-up career. Despite the fact that he was living in a garage and barely spoke English, he combined Persian and Hebrew and soon was working with professional comedians like Richard Pryor, David Letterman, Jay Leno, and Redd Foxx. Masada's father told him, “Making people laugh is the greatest Mitzvah of all.” In 1979, after a dispute over club owners refusing to pay comedians, a then 16-year-old Masada decided to open a new venue for comedians to perform. After obtaining a loan of $10,000 from Neal Israel, he opened the Laugh Factory in a building formerly belonging to Groucho Marx.Richard Pryor was the first comedian to perform at the club.

Louis C.K. chats about awkward fan interactions and how Ron Lynch gave him his first break as an up and coming comedian.
At first, we weren't so sure about this guy. Ron Lynch came out on stage and never once opened his mouth. His comedy was based solely on mumbling and hand gestures. Some were funny, sure, but for the most part, we were a bit lost. We were JUST about to give up on this guy when he turned around, popped on his mp3 player, and did this.
