About the Author

Emile N. Joseph is of Egyptian origin and was raised in a Christian family. He attended an Anglican School and graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney. Since 2000, he has been teaching English in an adult migrant college.

Joseph is happily married with two children and lives in Sydney, Australia. He is passionate about all aspects of language, especially its history, and is fluent in English, French and Italian.

A novella in the tone of a medieval story. Well done.

Format: Paperback
For devotees of fantasy and those open to a clear positive presentation of Christianity, this is a difficult novella. The difficulty lies in its unorthodox approach. This is not classic fantasy, nor classic time travel. This story has a feel more like a medieval era story; but, that is not a bad thing. This is a well told story that could use a little work on the initiation into part one, or as a preface to part one. I would be open to reading more from Emile Joseph.

One of the elements that makes this story fun to read is the language. It is obvious that Joseph is a multi-linguist who draws on that as a strength to help us gain a stronger feel for the 1400s era characters. The spill over of the poetics into the 2014 characters comes naturally and serves as binding of the two couples.

This book is a fable, a fantasy. Sir Dominic pursues his beloved Rose across the centuries, arriving breathlessly in 2014! The immediacy of the date captures the interest of the reader. The tale is poetic, as 'The Hound of Heaven' pursues the lost generation. The tale moves from Middle English to present day language, some of the latter being vulgar and frivolous. The chivalrous age compared to our pedestrian daily grind! One is captivated by the charm and primal innocence of the dialogue, as the divine encounters 'the dark gods in the blood' of the evil enchantress. An idyll. Thank you, Émile Joseph.
