Como colectividad Mapuche organizada en la ciudad se nos hace imperioso confeccionar un listado de nuestros hermanos Presos Políticos Mapuche, pues desde que se ha hecho más fuerte la lucha por la recuperación del Wallmapuche y el ejercicio efectivo de nuestros derechos al territorio como también de los derechos políticos, sociales, económicos y culturales; el estado chileno solo ha aplicado la política de reprimir todo brote de lucha social y ha sido particularmente represivo con nuestro Pueblo Mapuche. Consecuencia de ello son las torturas, vejaciones, asesinatos e injustos encarcelamientos que nuestros hermanos han debido sufrir.

The broad concept of illegality
Simply spreading information that has been distorted or kept quiet by the institutions and the media is “illegal”. It does not go against any precise law (except in cases of information protected by “State secret”), but is contrary to the State’s management of social control, of enforcing the law.

On April 19, 1993, live broadcasts of armored tanks and burning buildings flooded my TV screen. Flipping from station to station, I gathered that somewhere between 70 and 100 people were burning to death inside the buildings.
