Libération (French: [li.be.ʁa.sjɔ̃], popularly known as Libé [li.be]), is a daily newspaper in France, founded in Paris by Jean-Paul Sartre and Serge July in 1973 in the wake of the protest movements of May 1968.
For its first six or seven years it was a uniquely vibrant and pluralist publication and hugely influential. This was mainly due to its refusal to take paid advertising which meant there was no direct or indirect pressure from advertisers. It was paid for by sales on newsstalls and by subscriptions. Even classified adverts in the back pages (Les Petits Annonces) were free. These and the exciting content attracted people to buy it regularly.
Another innovation was the "note de la claviste" (ndlc) a comment, often very witty or apt, inserted by the claviste—the typesetter. The cartoons were unique and often savage and side-splitting. It has been described as a far-left newspaper. It has also been described as merely open, critical, and pluralist.
It went through a number of shifts during the 1980s and 1990s to take a less open, social democrat (centre-left) position. It was the first French daily to have a website. It had a circulation of about 101,000 in 2013.
Sneaky Pete is a crime drama series by Amazon Studios. The pilot was directed by Seth Gordon, and written by David Shore. It debuted on August 7, 2015. On September 2, Sneaky Pete was given a full series order.
After leaving prison, Marius (Giovanni Ribisi) takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of his cellmate, Pete. He moves in with Pete's long-estranged, unsuspecting family and is roped into the family's bail bond business. He's a criminal taking down other criminals and, in the process, he'll discover the family life he's never had.
In November 2014, CBS gave a production commitment to Sneaky Pete. A formal pilot for the show was shot in New York in March. On May 8, CBS decided to pass on the pilot, while also cancelling Vince Gilligan and David Shore's series on the network Battle Creek. Just two days later, it was reported that the pilot might be moving to cable networks, with many expressing interest. In June, it was reported that Amazon was in negotiations to pick up the pilot, with some tweaking and possible minor reshoots before being made available to the viewers. The pilot was released on Amazon on August 7 and was ordered to series on September 2.
Those Who Can't is an American cable television series that premiered February 11, 2016 on truTV. On December 1, 2015, the show was renewed for a second season before the first season aired. The pre-launch renewal is a first for the cable net, which ordered 13 episodes for the second season.
Those Who Can't is a half-hour show, based in Denver, Colorado, that follows three dysfunctional teachers, played by show creators Adam Cayton-Holland, Andrew Orvedahl and Ben Roy of the Denver-based comedy troupe The Grawlix. More inept than the kids they teach, they're out to beat the system as they struggle to survive each day on their own terms. Maria Thayer stars as the school librarian with an bubbling passion for life.
The show was originally set up for Amazon Studios who paid $50,000 to shoot the pilot. Amazon ordered six more episodes, but they never aired. The show was acquired by truTV as their first-ever full-length scripted comedy and was ordered with 10-episodes. The acquisition was part of truTV's comedy-driven “Way More Fun” programming initiative. When the show was first created, Cayton-Holland stated they wrote the character of Abbey Logan (originally played by comedian Nikki Glaser), the high-school librarian, as the love interest. Overdahl stated that in the pilot, Abbey "just sort of lived in the library and served only to flirt with Adam’s character.” The character and role was revised for the shows run at truTV and Abbey is stated to have become "one of the gang" with all the characters now on equal footing.
