At this time of year we have to start being extra watchful – our lambs are vulnerable to attack from this silent killer..
Not everyone is going to agree with this thesis – but I’ve been rescuing sheep from bramble patches for decades, and often I’ve come across the remains of sheep that were killed in this way, and it makes perfect sense to me. After all, why shouldn’t brambles be carniverous plants?
Arguments against include – they can only catch sheep, and the sheep will probably be eaten first by something else before it rots away. My response to the first is – only sheep seem to be vulnerable these days, but possibly baby wooly rhinos and other species that are now extinct might also have been victims at one time too.
And my response to the second is that unless the body is carried away whole (which is impossible) then there will always be plenty of bits left behind – intestines, liquids, wool, bones, blood, etc. – all excellent plant food..

THESE carnivorous plants make light work of any insects that stray into their deadly clutches. This set showcases an array of bug-eating plants, from the Venus flytrap - beloved of children the world over - to the Cape sundew, which lures insect life in with drops of sweet-smelling fluid on the highly-adhesive tentacles that line its leaves. Surrounding tentacles then move to further ensnare the insect, before glands on the leaf start to release digestive enzymes - liquefying the insect's internal organs and allowing them to be digested by the plant.

TOP 10 Largest CARNIVOROUS DINOSAURS

Torvosaurus Gurneyi
The newest species of megalosaur to date, Torvosaurus Gurneyi is indeed a monster. Though not the twelve meter, 6-7 ton animal it was thought to be based on a 160 cm maxilla, T. gurneyi is still an immense animal. Tipping the scales at 3.5 tons at average and a staggering 5 tons as a maximum, Torvosaurus has earned its place on this list
Allosaurus Amplexus
A giant species of Allosaur that was discovered in the 90's, this animal is commonly known as "Epanterias" amplexus. Most paleontologists consider this a nomen dubium, as it appears to just be a rather large species of Allosaurus. Just how big? well, scaling off of "Big Al"(Allosaurus Fragilis) yields ~14meters, 7 tons. But, this figure is a bit baseless and a more safe size estimation should be based off of the DINO allosaurids.. The only size figures given (apparently Stovall´s estimates) published anywhere are found below:
lenght of 42ft (=12.80m), 6.25 tons(6.25 tonnes), height of 16ft (=4.88m in kangaroo pose) a gape of 4ft (1.22m) six inch (=15.2cm) teeth and eleven inch (27.8cm) foreclaws. By comparison Allosaurus was stated to reach only up to 29ft; 2 tons in weight
Acrocanthosaurus Atokensis
Slightly smaller then its later gigantic relatives, Acrocanthosaurus is still not an animal you'd want to meet in a dark alley. The largest individual, affectionately known as "fran" was an 11 meter, 6.65 ton beast. Slightly smaller individuals have been unearthed, though they are known fromless complete remains. Estimates for these two range from 10.5-11 meters TBL; 4-6 tons
Therizinosaurus Cheloniformis
The only plant eating theropod on this list, Therizinosaurus is a massive animal. Quite capable of self defense as well, sporting claws that could measure as much as 6 ft. It's appearance is quite bizarre- almost a potbellied, sluggish creature in overall stature. Perhaps this is due to its immense weight; T. cheoniformis tipped the scales at ~5.5 - 6 tons in TBW. Being so large almost certainly kept it safe from most predators - though the claws surely helped.
Tyrannotitan Chubutensis
Is it really a suprise most of this list comprises of Carcharodontosaurs? They were massive creatures, and Tyrannotitan was no exception. In Giganotosauridae - the subfamily that includes Giganotosaurus and MApusaurus; two other large bodied Theropods, Tyrannotitan is estimated to measure 12.5-13 meters in length, and, basing off of close relatives, would weigh in the ball park of 5-7 tons.
Carcharodontosaurus Saharicus
Ol' Carcharodontosaurus has been kicked around quite a bit on this list. Old estimates have stated it to be anywhere from 6-20 tons in weight, and well they were right-but in a way they probably didn't expect. Carcharodontosaurus appears to be overall more slender then previously thought, and a good deal longer. An overall TBL of 45-48 feet in length, but a meager 5-7 tons in weight have brought this Carcharodontosaur down slightly on this list, but still up there pretty high.
Giganotosaurus Carolinii
Giganotosaurus has always been in the top five largest predatory dinosaurs. It too has been kicked around though, and recent studies conducted in this decade have shown us something staggering. The holotype, once hailed as a 13 meter animal, has been shrunk down to 12.4 meters in length - a "Sue" sized animal. The second individua, based on scant skull remains, was said to be ~10% larger then the holotype. That would put it at 13.2 meters in length, with a proposed body weight of 7.5-8 tons. It's no wonder Giganotosaurus is still onc of the largest predators to ever walk our earth.
Tyrannosaurus Rex
One of the first large bodied predatory dinosaurs ever discovered, Tyrannosaurus has lways been heralded as the largest to ever walk our earth. However, several discovereies in the last twenty years have shown us something rather different. Have no fear- as you can see T. rex is still high up on this list. The largest individual to date, "Celeste" measured an impressive 13 meters in length, and weighed in at 8.5-9.5 tons in weight."Sue" once regarded the largest, measures 12.2 meters in length and weighs in at 7.4- 8 tons.
Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus
WHAT?!!you may be asking yourselves, and as i'm suspecting, i'm gonna have to support the hell out of this one to assure you Spinosaurus is still the largest predatory dinosaur to date. The new reconstruction courtesy of PAul Sereno's new finds suggests a semi quadrupedal gait. So, before i start in let me tell you that this new posture gives more surface area for weight to be distributed on S. Aegyptiacus' body. As for 3 ton estimates thrown around on this site because of the new finds, i submit to you ;BS. That's the weight that Sereno et. al gave for Suchomimus Tenerensis - an 11 meter spinosaur. Simple scaling yields ~ 12 tons for S. Aegyptiacus.

The greatest diversity occurs on Borneo and Sumatra, with many endemic species. Carnivorous plants are fascinating members of the plant kingdom which get nutrients by trapping and dissolving their prey. There are more than 600 recognized species of carnivorous plants which employ various kinds of traps, to capture preys including insects and small vertebrates. We are sure that you will be amazed at our 10 most amazing carnivorous plants in the world.

10. Brocchinia Reducta
➢The plant effectively uses what is known as a 'pitfall trap' in order to tempt and trap its prey.
9. Aldrovanda Vesiculosa
➢Commonly known as the Waterwheel plant, Aldrovanda vesiculosa, is an under-water fly trap that feeds on small aquatic invertebrates.
8. Sarracenia
➢The pitcher contains fluid with digestive enzymes which drowns the insect and starts digestion.
7. Heliamphora
➢Heliamphora is a genus that consists of about 23 species of carnivorous plants that use pitfall traps to attract and kill mainly ants but also flying insects.
6. Pinguicula
➢The trapping mechanism is aided by two glands found on the leaves.
5. Utricularia
➢Utricularia employs bladder-like traps to capture prey such as mosquitos, protozoa, larvae and fish fry.
4. Byblis
➢Native to Australia, Byblis. Also known as Rainbow plants, are small plants with a passive trapping mechanism.
3. Nepenthes
➢The trap includes a pitcher formed at the tip of tendrils on the leaves. It contains a fluid, which is slippery, that drowns the prey.
2. Darlingtonia Californica
➢The Darlingtonia Californica is mainly found in Northern California and uses pitcher traps to capture prey.

A carnivore (

Animals that depend solely on animal flesh for their nutrient requirements are considered obligate carnivores while those that also consume non-animal food are considered facultative carnivores.Omnivores also consume both animal and non-animal food, and apart from the more general definition, there is no clearly defined ratio of plant to animal material that would distinguish a facultative carnivore from an omnivore, or an omnivore from a facultative herbivore, for that matter. A carnivore that sits at the top of the foodchain is an apex predator.
Plants that capture and digest insects are called carnivorous plants. Similarly, fungi that capture microscopic animals are often called carnivorous fungi.
The word "carnivore" sometimes refers to the mammalian Order Carnivora, but this is somewhat misleading. Many Carnivora meet the definition of being meat eaters, not all do, even fewer are obligate carnivores (see below). For example, most species of bears are actually omnivorous, except for the giant panda, which is almost exclusively herbivorous, and the carnivorous polar bear. In addition, there are plenty of carnivorous species are not members of Carnivora.

TOP 10 Largest CARNIVOROUS DINOSAURS - Mega Top Tens Torvosaurus Gurneyi The newest species of megalosaur to date, Torvosaurus Gurneyi is indeed a monster. Though not the twelve meter, 6-7 ton animal it was thought to be based on a 160 cm maxilla, T. gurneyi is still an immense animal. Tipping the scales at 3.5 tons at average and a staggering 5 tons as a maximum, Torvosaurus has earned its place on this list Allosaurus Amplexus A giant species of Allosaur that was discovered in the 90's, this animal is commonly known as "Epanterias" amplexus. Most paleontologists consider this a nomen dubium, as it appears to just be a rather large species of Allosaurus. Just how big? well, scaling off of "Big Al"(Allosaurus Fragilis) yields ~14meters, 7 tons. But, this figure is a bit baseless and a more safe size estimation should be based off of the DINO allosaurids.. The only size figures given (apparently Stovall´s estimates) published anywhere are found below: lenght of 42ft (=12.80m), 6.25 tons(6.25 tonnes), height of 16ft (=4.88m in kangaroo pose) a gape of 4ft (1.22m) six inch (=15.2cm) teeth and eleven inch (27.8cm) foreclaws. By comparison Allosaurus was stated to reach only up to 29ft; 2 tons in weight Acrocanthosaurus Atokensis Slightly smaller then its later gigantic relatives, Acrocanthosaurus is still not an animal you'd want to meet in a dark alley. The largest individual, affectionately known as "fran" was an 11 meter, 6.65 ton beast. Slightly smaller individuals have been unearthed, though they are known fromless complete remains. Estimates for these two range from 10.5-11 meters TBL; 4-6 tons Therizinosaurus Cheloniformis The only plant eating theropod on this list, Therizinosaurus is a massive animal. Quite capable of self defense as well, sporting claws that could measure as much as 6 ft. It's appearance is quite bizarre- almost a potbellied, sluggish creature in overall stature. Perhaps this is due to its immense weight; T. cheoniformis tipped the scales at ~5.5 - 6 tons in TBW. Being so large almost certainly kept it safe from most predators - though the claws surely helped. Tyrannotitan Chubutensis Is it really a suprise most of this list comprises of Carcharodontosaurs? They were massive creatures, and Tyrannotitan was no exception. In Giganotosauridae - the subfamily that includes Giganotosaurus and MApusaurus; two other large bodied Theropods, Tyrannotitan is estimated to measure 12.5-13 meters in length, and, basing off of close relatives, would weigh in the ball park of 5-7 tons. Carcharodontosaurus Saharicus Ol' Carcharodontosaurus has been kicked around quite a bit on this list. Old estimates have stated it to be anywhere from 6-20 tons in weight, and well they were right-but in a way they probably didn't expect. Carcharodontosaurus appears to be overall more slender then previously thought, and a good deal longer. An overall TBL of 45-48 feet in length, but a meager 5-7 tons in weight have brought this Carcharodontosaur down slightly on this list, but still up there pretty high. Giganotosaurus Carolinii Giganotosaurus has always been in the top five largest predatory dinosaurs. It too has been kicked around though, and recent studies conducted in this decade have shown us something staggering. The holotype, once hailed as a 13 meter animal, has been shrunk down to 12.4 meters in length - a "Sue" sized animal. The second individua, based on scant skull remains, was said to be ~10% larger then the holotype. That would put it at 13.2 meters in length, with a proposed body weight of 7.5-8 tons. It's no wonder Giganotosaurus is still onc of the largest predators to ever walk our earth. Tyrannosaurus Rex One of the first large bodied predatory dinosaurs ever discovered, Tyrannosaurus has lways been heralded as the largest to ever walk our earth. However, several discovereies in the last twenty years have shown us something rather different. Have no fear- as you can see T. rex is still high up on this list. The largest individual to date, "Celeste" measured an impressive 13 meters in length, and weighed in at 8.5-9.5 tons in weight."Sue" once regarded the largest, measures 12.2 meters in length and weighs in at 7.4- 8 tons. Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus WHAT?!!you may be asking yourselves, and as i'm suspecting, i'm gonna have to support the hell out of this one to assure you Spinosaurus is still the largest predatory dinosaur to date. The new reconstruction courtesy of PAul Sereno's new finds suggests a semi quadrupedal gait. So, before i start in let me tell you that this new posture gives more surface area for weight to be distributed on S. Aegyptiacus' body. As for 3 ton estimates thrown around on this site because of the new finds, i submit to you ;BS. That's the weight that Sereno et. al gave for Suchomimus Tenerensis - an 11 meter spinosaur. Simple scaling yields ~ 12 tons for S. Aegyptiacus. -

The genus comprises roughly 140 species, and numerous natural and many cultivated hybrids. They are mostly liana-forming plants of the Old World tropics, ranging from South China, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines; westward to Madagascar (two species) and the Seychelles (one); southward to Australia (three) and New Caledonia (one); and northward to India (one) and Sri Lanka (one). The greatest diversity occurs on Borneo and Sumatra, with many endemic species. Many are plants of hot, humid, lowland areas, but the majority are tropical montane plants, receiving warm days but cool to cold, humid nights year round. World's Biggest Carnivorous Plant Catches Whole Sheep!
At this time of year we have to start being extra watchful – our lambs are vulnerable to attack from this silent killer.. Not everyone is going to agree with this thesis – but I’ve been rescuing sheep from bramble patches for decades, and often I’ve come across the remains of sheep that were killed in this way, and it makes perfect sense to me. After all, why shouldn’t brambles be carniverous plants? Arguments against include – they can only catch sheep, and the sheep will probably be eaten first by something else before it rots away. My response to the first is – only sheep seem to be vulnerable these days, but possibly baby wooly rhinos and other species that are now extinct might also have been victims at one time too. And my response to the second is that unless the body is carried away whole (which is impossible) then there will always be plenty of bits left behind – intestines, liquids, wool, bones, blood, etc. – all excellent plant food.. TOP 10 Largest CARNIVOROUS DINOSAURS - Mega Top Tens Torvosaurus Gurneyi The newest species of megalosaur to date, Torvosaurus Gurneyi is indeed a monster. Though not the twelve meter, 6-7 ton animal it was thought to be based on a 160 cm maxilla, T. gurneyi is still an immense animal. Tipping the scales at 3.5 tons at average and a staggering 5 tons as a maximum, Torvosaurus has earned its place on this list Allosaurus Amplexus A giant species of Allosaur that was discovered in the 90's, this animal is commonly known as "Epanterias" amplexus. Most paleontologists consider this a nomen dubium, as it appears to just be a rather large species of Allosaurus. Just how big? well, scaling off of "Big Al"(Allosaurus Fragilis) yields ~14meters, 7 tons. But, this figure is a bit baseless and a more safe size estimation should be based off of the DINO allosaurids.. The only size figures given (apparently Stovall´s estimates) published anywhere are found below: lenght of 42ft (=12.80m), 6.25 tons(6.25 tonnes), height of 16ft (=4.88m in kangaroo pose) a gape of 4ft (1.22m) six inch (=15.2cm) teeth and eleven inch (27.8cm) foreclaws. By comparison Allosaurus was stated to reach only up to 29ft; 2 tons in weight Acrocanthosaurus Atokensis Slightly smaller then its later gigantic relatives, Acrocanthosaurus is still not an animal you'd want to meet in a dark alley. The largest individual, affectionately known as "fran" was an 11 meter, 6.65 ton beast. Slightly smaller individuals have been unearthed, though they are known fromless complete remains. Estimates for these two range from 10.5-11 meters TBL; 4-6 tons Therizinosaurus Cheloniformis The only plant eating theropod on this list, Therizinosaurus is a massive animal. Quite capable of self defense as well, sporting claws that could measure as much as 6 ft. It's appearance is quite bizarre- almost a potbellied, sluggish creature in overall stature. Perhaps this is due to its immense weight; T. cheoniformis tipped the scales at ~5.5 - 6 tons in TBW. Being so large almost certainly kept it safe from most predators - though the claws surely helped. Tyrannotitan Chubutensis Is it really a suprise most of this list comprises of Carcharodontosaurs? They were massive creatures, and Tyrannotitan was no exception. In Giganotosauridae - the subfamily that includes Giganotosaurus and MApusaurus; two other large bodied Theropods, Tyrannotitan is estimated to measure 12.5-13 meters in length, and, basing off of close relatives, would weigh in the ball park of 5-7 tons. Carcharodontosaurus Saharicus Ol' Carcharodontosaurus has been kicked around quite a bit on this list. Old estimates have stated it to be anywhere from 6-20 tons in weight, and well they were right-but in a way they probably didn't expect. Carcharodontosaurus appears to be overall more slender then previously thought, and a good deal longer. An overall TBL of 45-48 feet in length, but a meager 5-7 tons in weight have brought this Carcharodontosaur down slightly on this list, but still up there pretty high. Giganotosaurus Carolinii Giganotosaurus has always been in the top five largest predatory dinosaurs. It too has been kicked around though, and recent studies conducted in this decade have shown us something staggering. The holotype, once hailed as a 13 meter animal, has been shrunk down to 12.4 meters in length - a "Sue" sized animal. The second individua, based on scant skull remains, was said to be ~10% larger then the holotype. That would put it at 13.2 meters in length, with a proposed body weight of 7.5-8 tons. It's no wonder Giganotosaurus is still onc of the largest predators to ever walk our earth. Tyrannosaurus Rex One of the first large bodied predatory dinosaurs ever discovered, Tyrannosaurus has lways been heralded as the largest to ever walk our earth. However, several discovereies in the last twenty years have shown us something rather different. Have no fear- as you can see T. rex is still high up on this list. The largest individual to date, "Celeste" measured an impressive 13 meters in length, and weighed in at 8.5-9.5 tons in weight."Sue" once regarded the largest, measures 12.2 meters in length and weighs in at 7.4- 8 tons. Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus WHAT?!!you may be asking yourselves, and as i'm suspecting, i'm gonna have to support the hell out of this one to assure you Spinosaurus is still the largest predatory dinosaur to date. The new reconstruction courtesy of PAul Sereno's new finds suggests a semi quadrupedal gait. So, before i start in let me tell you that this new posture gives more surface area for weight to be distributed on S. Aegyptiacus' body. As for 3 ton estimates thrown around on this site because of the new finds, i submit to you ;BS. That's the weight that Sereno et. al gave for Suchomimus Tenerensis - an 11 meter spinosaur. Simple scaling yields ~ 12 tons for S. Aegyptiacus. -

Cobra lily (Darlingtonia californica) Darlingtonia californica, also called the California pitcher plant, cobra lily, or cobra plant, is a species of carnivorous plant, the sole member of the genus Darlingtonia in the family Sarraceniaceae. It is native to Northern California and Oregon, growing in bogs and seeps with cold running water. This plant is designated as uncommon due to its rarity in the field. The name "cobra lily" stems from the resemblance of its tubular leaves to a rearing cobra, complete with a forked leaf - ranging from yellow to purplish-green - that resemble fangs or a serpent's tongue. 9.Mouse-Eating Pitcher Plants Nepenthes attenboroughii, named after the British naturalist and television host David Attenborough, has been known to eat not just little mice but also larger rats. Their pitchers can be as large as a football and are often found to contain giant centipedes and spiders up to four inches long. 8 Rainbow plant, Byblis, or rainbow plant, is a small genus of carnivorous plant native to Australia. Even though these plants look similar to the Drosera and Drosophllum, they are not related in any way and can be distinguished by zygomorphic flowers with five curved stamens. 7 Sarracenia Sarracenia is a genus comprising 8 to 11 species of North American pitcher plants, commonly called trumpet pitchers. The insects are attracted by a nectar-like secretion on the lip of pitchers, as well as a combination of color and scent. Fail: Carnivorous Pitcher Plant eats Large Slug in my Greenhouse. Once it got onto the rim of the pitcher it had no chance as the downward spikes on the rim didn't allow it to back up. This Video YouTube is not for the squeamish. Footage was taken over the course of 30 minutes. I Don't think it will make a recovery...I hope it had good insurance! I should have filmed a bit more... -

At this time of year we have to start being extra watchful – our lambs are vulnerable to attack from this silent killer..
Not everyone is going to agree with this thesis – but I’ve been rescuing sheep from bramble patches for decades, and often I’ve come across the remains of sheep that were killed in this way, and it makes perfect sense to me. After all, why shouldn’t brambles be carniverous plants?
Arguments against include – they can only catch sheep, and the sheep will probably be eaten first by something else before it rots away. My response to the first is – only sheep seem to be vulnerable these days, but possibly baby wooly rhinos and other species that are now extinct might also have been victims at one time too.
And my response to the second is that unless the body is carried away whole (which is impossible) then there will always be plenty of bits left behind – intestines, liquids, wool, bones, blood, etc. – all excellent plant food..

My response to the first is – only sheep seem to be vulnerable these days, but possibly baby wooly rhinos and other species that are now extinct might also have been victims at one time too.
And my response to the second is that unless the body is carried away whole (which is impossible) then there will always be plenty of bits left behind – intestines, liquids, wool, bones, blood, etc. – all excellent plant food..

THESE carnivorous plants make light work of any insects that stray into their deadly clutches. This set showcases an array of bug-eating plants, from the Venus flytrap - beloved of children the world over - to the Cape sundew, which lures insect life in with drops of sweet-smelling fluid on the highly-adhesive tentacles that line its leaves. Torvosaurus Gurneyi
The newest species of megalosaur to date, Torvosaurus Gurneyi is indeed a monster. Though not the twelve meter, 6-7 ton animal it was thought to be based on a 160 cm maxilla, T. gurneyi is still an immense animal. Tipping the scales at 3.5 tons at average and a staggering 5 tons as a maximum, Torvosaurus has earned its place on this list
Allosaurus Amplexus
A giant species of Allosaur that was discovered in the 90's, this animal is commonly known as "Epanterias" amplexus. Most paleontologists consider this a nomen dubium, as it appears to just be a rather large species of Allosaurus. Just how big? well, scaling off of "Big Al"(Allosaurus Fragilis) yields ~14meters, 7 tons. But, this figure is a bit baseless and a more safe size estimation should be based off of the DINO allosaurids.. The only size figures given (apparently Stovall´s estimates) published anywhere are found below:
lenght of 42ft (=12.80m), 6.25 tons(6.25 tonnes), height of 16ft (=4.88m in kangaroo pose) a gape of 4ft (1.22m) six inch (=15.2cm) teeth and eleven inch (27.8cm) foreclaws. By comparison Allosaurus was stated to reach only up to 29ft; 2 tons in weight
Acrocanthosaurus Atokensis
Slightly smaller then its later gigantic relatives, Acrocanthosaurus is still not an animal you'd want to meet in a dark alley. The largest individual, affectionately known as "fran" was an 11 meter, 6.65 ton beast. Slightly smaller individuals have been unearthed, though they are known fromless complete remains. Estimates for these two range from 10.5-11 meters TBL; 4-6 tons
Therizinosaurus Cheloniformis
The only plant eating theropod on this list, Therizinosaurus is a massive animal. Quite capable of self defense as well, sporting claws that could measure as much as 6 ft. It's appearance is quite bizarre- almost a potbellied, sluggish creature in overall stature. Perhaps this is due to its immense weight; T. cheoniformis tipped the scales at ~5.5 - 6 tons in TBW. Being so large almost certainly kept it safe from most predators - though the claws surely helped.
Tyrannotitan Chubutensis
Is it really a suprise most of this list comprises of Carcharodontosaurs? They were massive creatures, and Tyrannotitan was no exception. In Giganotosauridae - the subfamily that includes Giganotosaurus and MApusaurus; two other large bodied Theropods, Tyrannotitan is estimated to measure 12.5-13 meters in length, and, basing off of close relatives, would weigh in the ball park of 5-7 tons.
Carcharodontosaurus Saharicus
Ol' Carcharodontosaurus has been kicked around quite a bit on this list. Old estimates have stated it to be anywhere from 6-20 tons in weight, and well they were right-but in a way they probably didn't expect. Carcharodontosaurus appears to be overall more slender then previously thought, and a good deal longer. An overall TBL of 45-48 feet in length, but a meager 5-7 tons in weight have brought this Carcharodontosaur down slightly on this list, but still up there pretty high.
Giganotosaurus Carolinii
Giganotosaurus has always been in the top five largest predatory dinosaurs. It too has been kicked around though, and recent studies conducted in this decade have shown us something staggering. The holotype, once hailed as a 13 meter animal, has been shrunk down to 12.4 meters in length - a "Sue" sized animal. The second individua, based on scant skull remains, was said to be ~10% larger then the holotype. That would put it at 13.2 meters in length, with a proposed body weight of 7.5-8 tons. It's no wonder Giganotosaurus is still onc of the largest predators to ever walk our earth.

One of the first large bodied predatory dinosaurs ever discovered, Tyrannosaurus has lways been heralded as the largest to ever walk our earth. However, several discovereies in the last twenty years have shown us something rather different. Have no fear- as you can see T. rex is still high up on this list. The largest individual to date, "Celeste" measured an impressive 13 meters in length, and weighed in at 8.5-9.5 tons in weight."Sue" once regarded the largest, measures 12.2 meters in length and weighs in at 7.4- 8 tons.
Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus
WHAT?!!you may be asking yourselves, and as i'm suspecting, i'm gonna have to support the hell out of this one to assure you Spinosaurus is still the largest predatory dinosaur to date. The new reconstruction courtesy of PAul Sereno's new finds suggests a semi quadrupedal gait. So, before i start in let me tell you that this new posture gives more surface area for weight to be distributed on S. Aegyptiacus' body. As for 3 ton estimates thrown around on this site because of the new finds, i submit to you ;BS. That's the weight that Sereno et. al gave for Suchomimus Tenerensis - an 11 meter spinosaur. Simple scaling yields ~ 12 tons for S. Aegyptiacus.

Carnivorous plants are fascinating members of the plant kingdom which get nutrients by trapping and dissolving their prey. There are more than 600 recognized species of carnivorous plants which employ various kinds of traps, to capture preys including insects and small vertebrates. Darlingtonia californica, also called the California pitcher plant, cobra lily, or cobra plant, is a species of carnivorous plant, the sole member of the genus Darlingtonia in the family Sarraceniaceae. It is native to Northern California and Oregon, growing in bogs and seeps with cold running water. This plant is designated as uncommon due to its rarity in the field.
The name "cobra lily" stems from the resemblance of its tubular leaves to a rearing cobra, complete with a forked leaf - ranging from yellow to purplish-green - that resemble fangs or a serpent's tongue.
