Before this film Clint Eastwood had especially been known from Rawhide. Ty Hardin, at that time well-known for playing the protagonist in the TV show Bronco, who appeared in several other European westerns at about the same time, claimed later on [5] he had as well had an opportunity to get the role which started Clint Eastwood's unique career in cinema.
The film's music was written by Ennio Morricone, credited as Dan Savio. Morricone recalled Leone requesting him to write "Dimitri Tiomkin music" for the film. The trumpet theme is similar to Tiomkin's El Degüello theme from Rio Bravo (1959) (that was called Un dollaro d'onore in Italy) while the opening title whistling music recalls Tiomkin's use of whistling in his Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957). "Some of the music was written before the film, which is unusual. Leone's films were made like that because he wanted the music to be an important part of it, and he often kept the scenes longer simply because he didn't want the music to end. That's why the films are so slow - because of the music."[17] Though not used in the completed film, Peter Tevis recorded lyrics to Morricone's theme for the film. As a movie tie-in to the American release, United Artists Records released a different set of lyrics to Morricone's theme called Lonesome One by Little Anthony and the Imperials.

Wolfgang Lukschy (born 19 October 1905 – 10 July 1983 in Berlin) was a German actor and dubber. He performed in theater, film and television.
He made over 75 film and television appearances between 1940 and 1979. Possibly his most noted performances worldwide were his roles as Alfred Jodl in the 1962 American war film The Longest Day and as John Baxter in Sergio Leone's 1964 production A Fistful of Dollars alongside Clint Eastwood and Gian Maria Volontè.

Wolfgang is a German male given name traditionally popular in Germany and Austria. The name is a combination of the Old High German word wulf, meaning "wolf" and gang, meaning "path, journey". The Old High German "wulf" occurs in names as the prefixes "wulf" and "wolf", as well as the suffixes "ulf" and "olf". "Wulf" is a popular element of the common dithematic German names. This is likely due the ancient reverence of the wolf as a strong, predatorial animal, also revered for its beauty. Before this film Clint Eastwood had especially been known from Rawhide. Ty Hardin, at that time well-known for playing the protagonist in the TV show Bronco, who appeared in several other European westerns at about the same time, claimed later on [5] he had as well had an opportunity to get the role which started Clint Eastwood's unique career in cinema.
The film's music was written by Ennio Morricone, credited as Dan Savio. Morricone recalled Leone requesting him to write "Dimitri Tiomkin music" for the film. The trumpet theme is similar to Tiomkin's El Degüello theme from Rio Bravo (1959) (that was called Un dollaro d'onore in Italy) while the opening title whistling music recalls Tiomkin's use of whistling in his Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957). "Some of the music was written before the film, which is unusual. Leone's films were made like that because he wanted the music to be an important part of it, and he often kept the scenes longer simply because he didn't want the music to end. That's why the films are so slow - because of the music."[17] Though not used in the completed film, Peter Tevis recorded lyrics to Morricone's theme for the film. As a movie tie-in to the American release, United Artists Records released a different set of lyrics to Morricone's theme called Lonesome One by Little Anthony and the Imperials.

As one of the first Spaghetti Westerns to be released in the United States, many of the European cast and crew took on American sounding stage names. These included Leone himself ("Bob Robertson"), Gian Maria Volonté ("Johnny Wels"), and composer Ennio Morricone ("Dan Savio").
A Fistful of Dollars was shot in Spain, mostly near Hoyo de Manzanares[4] close to Madrid, but also (like its two sequels) in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park in Almería province.
Before this film Clint Eastwood had especially been known from Rawhide. Ty Hardin, at that time well-known for playing the protagonist in the TV show Bronco, who appeared in several other European westerns at about the same time, claimed later on [5] he had as well had an opportunity to get the role which started Clint Eastwood's unique career in cinema.
The film's music was written by Ennio Morricone, credited as Dan Savio. Morricone recalled Leone requesting him to write "Dimitri Tiomkin music" for the film. The trumpet theme is similar to Tiomkin's El Degüello theme from Rio Bravo (1959) (that was called Un dollaro d'onore in Italy) while the opening title whistling music recalls Tiomkin's use of whistling in his Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957). "Some of the music was written before the film, which is unusual. Leone's films were made like that because he wanted the music to be an important part of it, and he often kept the scenes longer simply because he didn't want the music to end. That's why the films are so slow - because of the music."[17] Though not used in the completed film, Peter Tevis recorded lyrics to Morricone's theme for the film. As a movie tie-in to the American release, United Artists Records released a different set of lyrics to Morricone's theme called Lonesome One by Little Anthony and the Imperials.

The trumpet theme is similar to Tiomkin's El Degüello theme from Rio Bravo (1959) (that was called Un dollaro d'onore in Italy) while the opening title whistling music recalls Tiomkin's use of whistling in his Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957). "Some of the music was written before the film, which is unusual. Leone's films were made like that because he wanted the music to be an important part of it, and he often kept the scenes longer simply because he didn't want the music to end. That's why the films are so slow - because of the music."[17] Though not used in the completed film, Peter Tevis recorded lyrics to Morricone's theme for the film. Tentokrát se příběh odehrává v Arizoně roku 1860. Vlak Union Pacifik je přepaden bandou desperátů vedenou mužem, který je všemi titulován jako Generál. Je to ničema, který chladnokrevně obchoduje se smrtí - prodává Indiánům zbraně a tajně je štve proti bílým osadníkům. Tolik potřebný mír by totiž znamenal konec jeho špinavých obchodů. Neštítí se dokonce ani vraždy, když zavraždí syna komančského náčelník ve snaze vyprovokovat otevřené střetnutí. Jen s pomocí Vinnetoua a jeho bílého přítele Old Surehanda se podaří zabránit rozhněvaným Komančům ve válečné výpravě, která by skončila katastrofou. Spravedlnosti přesto bude učiněno zadost. Old Surehand, který už celá léta beznadějně pátrá po mužích, kteří vyvraždili jeho rodinu, zjistí, že i za touto krutostí stojí bezohledný generál. A je odhodlán se pomstít.
