Tre donne, madre, figlia e nipote, tutte di nome Cissie Colpitts, fanno annegare uno dopo l'altro i rispettivi mariti (un giardiniere, un uomo d'affari e un disoccupato), rispettivamente in una vasca da bagno, in mare ed in piscina. Malgrado i sospetti dei familiari dei defunti, fanno passare le morti per incidenti grazie alla complicità dell'eccentrico medico legale Madgett, amico di famiglia, che passa il tempo con il figlio adolescente inventandosi strani giochi e stilando macabre statistiche di morti. Madgett si aspetta ogni volta di essere ricompensato dalle loro grazie femminili, ma viene solo ripetutamente illuso (è la più giovane e trasgressiva delle tre a concedergli una minima soddisfazione, ma poi si tira indietro anche lei), finché alla fine, durante la cerimonia notturna della dispersione delle ceneri dei tre mariti, rimane vittima a sua volta dello spietato terzetto.
Tired of her husband's philanderous ways, the mother of two daughters drowns her husband. With the reluctant help of the local coroner, the murder is obscured. Her daughters are having similar problems with relationships, and tend to follow their mother's example, and the coroner becomes reluctantly duplicitous. As the plot progresses, visual and spoken numbers appear in the scenes, counting from one to 100.

Drowning by Numbers
Drowning by Numbers is a 1988 British-Dutch film directed by Peter Greenaway. It won the award for Best Artistic Contribution at the Cannes Film Festival of 1988.
Plot
The film's plot centres on three married women — a grandmother, her daughter, and her niece — each named Cissie Colpitts. As the story progresses, each woman successively drowns her husband. The three Cissie Colpittses are played by Joan Plowright, Juliet Stevenson and Joely Richardson, while Bernard Hill plays the coroner, Madgett, who is cajoled into covering up the three crimes.
The structure, with similar stories repeated three times, is reminiscent of a fairy tale, most specifically 'The Billy Goats Gruff', because Madgett is constantly promised greater rewards as he tries his luck with each of the Cissies in turn. The link to folklore is further established by Madgett's son Smut, who recites the rules of various unusual games played by the characters as if they were ancient traditions. Peter Greenaway CBE, one of Britain’s most ambitious and controversial directors, looks back on his a filmmaking career spanning 50 years, musing on the essence of cinema, the notion of realism and “the enslavement of narrative.”
After initially training as a painter, Greenaway began making his own films in 1966 with his first short Death of Sentiment, before making films including: The Draughtsman’s Contract, A Zed & Two Noughts, Drowning by Numbers, the controversial but critically acclaimed, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, starring Helen Mirren, and his latest film Eisenstein in Guanajuato. He received a BAFTA for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema in 2014.
Greenaway’s other credits include art installations & exhibitions, documentaries and mockumentaries, opera and music theatre performances, and various television projects including 1990’s A TV Dante.

"1-100 was composed on 19 December 1975 as a sound track for a film by a friend of mine, Peter Greenaway. This film consists of the numbers one to a hundred, shot in an assortment of locations and contexts and edited in sequence. Peter Greenaway asked me to find some musical parallel for this additive arithmetic process and, additionally, to provide a rhythm to edit the numerical sequence to. [...] This recorded realisation of 1-100 consists of four unsynchronised superimposed readings. What interests me about musical processes is the fact that one can precisely specify the material and the method of articulation, and yet leave the system open in some way to bring about something more than mere unprogrammed incidentals: rather the complete transformation of the material, the effacement of the 'given' identity. This was a pleasantly unexpected consequence of making the four 'blind' (deaf?) superimpositions of the 100-chord sequence. Thus not only are entirely unforseen, accidental concurrences and staggered sonorities thrown up, but the original harmonic rhythm, the expected resolution of 'dissonant' chords, disappears almost entirely too."

It's Cicada and Spider season in Australia. So let's think back to the May (Fukushima Effect) Cicada and see how weird that was. Cicadas are curious insects who spend the bulk of their life underground doing mysterious things. Their life is bound by prime numbers and if the Cicada gets it wrong there's no other Cicadas from its brood to breed with. I also show a really unusual tiny bush Cicads that's pretty tricky to pick up. Even more tricky to make perform in front of camera.The experimental deadly spider tank is shown 10 weeks after is was started. There were two Redback spiders in there buy one female ate the other. Over the weeks I kept feeding the spider tank whatever I could. Two Preying Mantis were killed but never fed from by the Redback spider. So possibly there is something about the Preying Mantis thats toxic to Redback Spiders. There were two spider egg sacs laid over the past 10 weeks. I was curious to see if there were spiderlings as one egg sac was very overdue. What I discover will shock you.

The Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra in E-flat major, K. 364 (320d), was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
At the time of its composition in 1779, Mozart was on a tour of Europe that included Mannheim and Paris. The composition's complex orchestral dynamics reflects the increasing technical competence of the European orchestra of that era and was strongly influenced by Mozart's visit to the Mannheim court orchestra during his European tour of 1777 to 1779. Mozart had been experimenting with the sinfonia concertante genre and this work can be considered his most successful realization in this cross-over genre between symphony and concerto. The piece is scored in three movements for solo violin, solo viola, two oboes, two horns, and strings, the latter including two sections of violas.
The solo viola part is written in D major instead of E flat major, and the instrument tuned a semitone sharper (scordatura technique), to give a more brilliant tone. This technique is uncommon when performed on the modern viola and is used mostly in performance on original instruments.
It has also been arranged for cello in place of the viola part.

This Sinfonia Concertante has influenced many arrangers to use these themes. In 1808 an uncredited arrangement of the piece for string sextet Grande Sestetto Concertante was published by Sigmund Anton Steiner. All six parts are divided equally among the six players; it is not presented as soloists with accompaniment.
The opening two melodic phrases of "The Windmills of Your Mind," a song from the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair, were adopted from the opening of the second movement of the Sinfonia Concertante.
The Sinfonia Concertante was mentioned in William Styron's 1979 novel Sophie's Choice; after a stranger molests Sophie on the subway, she hears the Sinfonia Concertante on the radio, which brings back memories of her childhood in Krakow and snaps her out of her depression.
Variations on the slow second movement were used for the soundtrack to the 1988 Peter Greenaway film Drowning by Numbers by composer Michael Nyman. The original piece is also heard after each of the drownings in the screenplay.
The American composer and bassist Edgar Meyer was so interested in this work that in 1995 he wrote a double concerto for double bass, cello and orchestra that, while very different in style, closely mirrors the structure of Mozart's Sinfonia concertante.
The andante movement of this piece was featured in Nuri Bilge Ceylan's 2002 film Uzak.

"A Symphony of Found Objects" is a musical collage which synthesizes a large number of works for orchestral, choral and instrumental ensembles into an eclectic tapestry of often dense and varied textures. Taking the line of thought from those like Ives and Berio to the level of the mashup presents a huge host of musical possibilities and in this I have effectively just recreated what I would listen to with over a dozen tabs open into a single track.
