Amazon Silk Browser http://www.netbooknews.com One of the headline features of Amazon's new Kindle Fire tablet is a completely new Web browser called Silk that is designed with a "split" architecture, allowing it to offload much of the heavy lifting to Amazon's cloud computing cluster for superior browsing performance.
When the user requests a webpage in Silk, the request will be routed to Amazon's servers in the cloud. Amazon will load the webpage on the server side, downloading all of the necessary content elements in parallel. After downloading the content, Amazon will send the compiled page — including HTML, JavaSript, CSS, and images — back to the device as a single stream of data.

The Kindle Fire Runs Android 2.3, but really it is its own operating system. android is heavily layered on the Kindle Fire to the point of no resemblance. So in the video below we take a good look at what Amazon has down with the OS for the Kindle Fire and also take a good look at they much touted Silk web browser. Looking at its speed, functionality, flash rendering and more.
The first thing you will notice with the Kindle Fire once you turn it on is the singular home screen, with a notification bar on top that slides down when tapped on the right to reveal your volume, brightness Wi-Fi, Sync and setting controls; as well as quick music controls. Tapping on the upper left hand corner which shows your name when a number is highlighted bring sup your download notification screen. Below the notification bar is your search bar and category row. You can search within the device as well as the web. Your categories are broken down to Newsstand, Books, Music, Video, Docs, Apps (Amazon App store not Android app Store), Web( Silk Browser).
Below that is your activity carousel, which show in order or all the activities you have conducted o the Kindle fire with the most recent being in front. You can pin any of those items to your favorites which is right below the carousel. The Silk Browser is an interesting beast, since it is powered by Amazon' servers to give you a faster browsing experience. I did get varying browsers speeds. But that could be attributed to everyone getting their Kindle fires and the system adjusting to the in-flocks. Web browser on mobile devices is a huge feature that is sometimes a deal breaker for someone if the experience is not good. Right now the top browsers on tablets is Safari on the iPad using Apple's iOS platform and Android 3.o Honeycomb browser. Amazon looks to get in the ranks of top tablet browsers and at the same time create a better experience with Amazon Silk. The web browser looks like any other browser you would see on android. The interface isn't anything that revolutionary or something you have to learn. Its familiar and you'll know how to use it right away. What's different is what's happening in the background. Amazon is offloading all the complex and resource intensive parts of loading a webpage to their servers to get the page to load faster and more accurate to get close to a desktop link experience. For example Flash is processed on their servers while just a simple frame render is done on the tablet. In theory this should increase the speed in which pages load and the responsiveness of these pages once they load up. Offloading a big element like flash should make web browsing a lot better and give oyu access to many sites that still rely heavily on flash and haven't covered to a mobile page or to HTML 5 yet.
It works well and gets you to pages faster and plays resource heavy content a lot better. The smoothest of the browser needs to improved and there is some stutter and lag when you scroll up and down pages and doing pinch and zoom. However I'm excited for where this technology could go. With more improvement I can definitely see it being used on more things than just the browser on the Kindle Fire. Check out the video below and share your thoughts.

The Kindle Fire Runs Android 2.3, but really it is its own operating system. android is heavily layered on the Kindle Fire to the point of no resemblance. So in the video below we take a good look at what Amazon has down with the OS for the Kindle Fire and also take a good look at they much touted Silk web browser. Looking at its speed, functionality, flash rendering and more.

Web browser on mobile devices is a huge feature that is sometimes a deal breaker for someone if the experience is not good. Right now the top browsers on tablets is Safari on the iPad using Apple's iOS platform and Android 3.o Honeycomb browser. Amazon looks to get in the ranks of top tablet browsers and at the same time create a better experience with Amazon Silk. The web browser looks like any other browser you would see on android. The interface isn't anything that revolutionary or something you have to learn. Its familiar and you'll know how to use it right away. What's different is what's happening in the background. Amazon is offloading all the complex and resource intensive parts of loading a webpage to their servers to get the page to load faster and more accurate to get close to a desktop link experience. For example Flash is processed on their servers while just a simple frame render is done on the tablet. In theory this should increase the speed in which pages load and the responsiveness of these pages once they load up. Offloading a big element like flash should make web browsing a lot better and give oyu access to many sites that still rely heavily on flash and haven't covered to a mobile page or to HTML 5 yet.
It works well and gets you to pages faster and plays resource heavy content a lot better. The smoothest of the browser needs to improved and there is some stutter and lag when you scroll up and down pages and doing pinch and zoom. However I'm excited for where this technology could go. With more improvement I can definitely see it being used on more things than just the browser on the Kindle Fire. Check out the video below and share your thoughts.
