Out of East Lothian’ – aerial film by Walid Salhab from Queen Margaret University’s Kinetic film project.
Dunbar like you’ve never seen it before!
The bustling East Lothian towns of Dunbar and North Berwick are beautifully portrayed by the award-winning filmmaker Walid Salhab in this new seven minute aerial film ‘Out of East Lothian’.
Walid captured the stunning footage of the rugged East Lothian coastline with a drone - DJI inspire 1. With the ability to reach heights of 1000 metres and travel at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour, the drone is able to create unique views of the town and the landscape from the sea. East Lothian has a gentle colourful landscape. Very noticeably, Walid’s film captures the richness of the red rock around Dunbar’s coastline, as well as the lush greenery of the Winterfield Golf Course and the soft sunsets. The film also features the incredible expanse of Belhaven Bay located to the north of Dunbar and the coastal path around Winterfield Park.
Walid hopes that this beautiful footage helps to encapsulate the spirit of his favourite county, East Lothian, and that the wonderful music from the film ‘Out of Africa’ adds to the relaxing feel of the film.

तो आज मैं आप लोगों को लेकर आई हूं, दिल्ली के कश्मीरी गेट के पास मौजूद एक ऐसे कब्रिस्तान में जिसे दुनिया के सबसे प्रेतबाधित कब्रिस्तानों में से एक माना जाता है।यह कब्रिस्तान दिल्ली का सबसे चर्चित कब्रिस्तान है। यह दिल्ली का एकमात्र ऐसा कब्रिस्तान है जहां एक समुदाय(मुस्लिम) के लोगों की कब्रों को उखाड़कर दूसरे समुदाय(ईसाइयों) के लोगों के शवों को यहां पर दफनाया गया। ऑफिसियल रिकॉर्ड की मानें तो इस कब्रिस्तान को अंग्रेजों ने साल 1808 में बनवाया था। जो इसे 200 साल से भी पुराना कब्रिस्तान बनाता है, लेकिन बहुत से अनऑफिशियल एलिमेंटस का कहना यह है कि किसी समय में यह जगह मुस्लिम दफन मैदान हुआ करती थी। जिसका उपयोग दिल्ली के शाही शासक परिवारों के द्वारा किया जाता था। कहा जाता है अपना वर्चस्व दिखाने के लिए इसे अंग्रेजों ने भारतीय राजघरानों के हाथों से छीन लिया और इसे अपने लिए इस्तेमाल करना शुरू कर दिया। फिर हुआ कुछ यूं कि ब्रिटिश ने पुरानी कब्रों को तोड़ दिया और खोद दिया क्योंकि ब्रिटिश लोग भारतीय शाही घरानों के बगल में दफन नहीं होना चाहते थे.....

Exploring Seacliff Beach in East Lothian, Scotland.
Last week I visited the stunning Seacliff Beach in East Lothian, which is one of my favourite beaches anywhere in Scotland. You don't need to head to the western Highlands of Scotland to find fabulous Scottish beaches and coastline!
It's been a few years since my last visit and it felt amazing to be back. Seacliff Beach is located about five miles east of North Berwick and also right next door to the very atmospheric Tantallon Castle. Combining the two makes a great day out. The views out to Bass Rock are fantastic and there's even a tiny little harbour hewn into the rock, which was created by the then laird, Andrew Laidley, in 1890 which is well worth a look.
Vehicular access to the beach starts at Auldhame Farm and is controlled a little further along by a barrier which costs three pounds (only takes coins), which is a small price to pay for keeping the beach and surrounding area well maintained and looked after. Although I had the beach to myself at times, the car park can get busy during the summer months, so I would tend to avoid bank holidays in the height of summer if you want peace and quiet.
I actually think the winter is one of the best times of the year to visit, especially if you get a beautiful blue sky day like I did. If you love old ruins, you might want to seek out Auldhame Castle and old Seacliff House which which was a top secret naval base during the war.
If you do visit Seacliff beach, please ensure you leave this very special place as you find it, taking all your litter home and leaving only footprints in the sand :-)

The Shale Trail, West Lothian’s newest walking / cycling / running route. Head from West Calder, past the five sisters, through Livingston alongside the river almond, through the forests of Almondell before trekking through Uphall and Broxburn, all the way to Winchburgh. A route lined with the history of Scotland’s Shale oil industry.
Altogether, It’s a 16 mile long, full day adventure, or you can choose to do little portions at a time. With some fantastic sights and lots of wildlife along the route, it really is a great day out. With a QR code on each post to give you the history and a separate QR code for the kids, there's plenty to keep your mind (and legs) occupied.

Heart of Lothian
"Heart of Lothian" is a song by British neo-progressive rock band Marillion. It is the fifth track on the 1985 concept album Misplaced Childhood. The song was released as the third single from Misplaced Childhood on 18 November 1985 in the UK, the Netherlands, West Germany, Canada (on Capitol Records), South Africa and Australia. "Heart of Lothian" became the third Top 30 UK single from Misplaced Childhood, peaking at number 29. The song also peaked at number 51 on the German singles chart.
The 7" and 12" formats of the single both featured a live version of "Chelsea Monday", originally a track from Marillion's debut 1983 album Script for a Jester's Tear as the b-side. This was recorded at the Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in Utrecht on 15 October 1985. The 12" also includes the extended album version of "Heart of Lothian" as well as the single edit. In the US, the song was first used as the b-side for "Kayleigh", the band's European hit single. In 1986, "Heart of Lothian" reappeared as a b-side to the US-only single release "Lady Nina", which had in turn appeared as a b-side on the European release of the lead single from Misplaced Childhood, "Kayleigh".

Lothian
Lothian (/ˈloʊ.ði.ən/; Scottish Gaelic: Lodainn) is a region of the Scottish Lowlands, lying between the southern shore of the Firth of Forth and the Lammermuir Hills. The principal settlement is the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, while other significant towns include Livingston, Linlithgow, Queensferry, Dalkeith, Musselburgh, North Berwick, Dunbar, and Haddington.
Historically, the term Lothian referred to a province encompassing most of what is now southeastern Scotland. In the 7th century it came under the control of the Anglian kingdom of Bernicia, the northern part of the later kingdom of Northumbria, but the Angles' grip on Lothian was quickly weakened following the Battle of Nechtansmere in which they were defeated by the Picts. Lothian was annexed to the Kingdom of Scotland around the 10th century.
Subsequent Scottish history saw the region subdivided into three shires—Mid, East, and West Lothian—leading to the popular term 'the Lothians'.
Etymology
The origin of the name is debated. It perhaps comes from the British *Lugudūniānā (Lleuddiniawn in Modern Welsh spelling) meaning 'country of the fort of Lugus', the latter being the pagan god of commerce. Alternatively it may take its name from a watercourse which flows through the region, now known as the Lothian Burn, the name of which comes from the British lutna meaning 'dark or muddy stream'.

Lothian (Scottish Parliament electoral region)
Lothian is one of the eight electoral regions of the Scottish Parliament. Nine of the parliament's 73 first past the post constituencies are sub-divisions of the region and it elects seven of the 56 additional-member Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs). Thus it elects a total of 16 MSPs.
The Lothian region was created as a result of the First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries and largely replaced the Lothians region.

Lothians (European Parliament constituency)
Prior to its uniform adoption of proportional representation in 1999, the United Kingdom used first-past-the-post for the European elections in England, Scotland and Wales. The European Parliament constituencies used under that system were smaller than the later regional constituencies and only had one Member of the European Parliament each.
The constituency of Lothians was one of them.
When it was created in Scotland in 1979, it consisted of the Westminster Parliament constituencies of Edinburgh Central, Edinburgh East, Edinburgh Leith, Edinburgh North, Edinburgh Pentlands, Edinburgh South, Edinburgh West, Midlothian, West Lothian, although this may not have been true for the whole of its existence.

Dunbar like you’ve never seen it before!
The bustling East Lothian towns of Dunbar and North Berwick are beautifully portrayed by the award-winning filmmaker Walid Salhab in this new seven minute aerial film ‘Out of East Lothian’.
Walid captured the stunning footage of the rugged East Lothian coastline with a drone - DJI inspire 1. With the ability to reach heights of 1000 metres and travel at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour, the drone is able to create unique views of the town and the landscape from the sea. तो आज मैं आप लोगों को लेकर आई हूं, दिल्ली के कश्मीरी गेट के पास मौजूद एक ऐसे कब्रिस्तान में जिसे दुनिया के सबसे प्रेतबाधित कब्रिस्तानों में से एक माना जाता है।यह कब्रिस्तान दिल्ली का सबसे चर्चित कब्रिस्तान है। यह दिल्ली का एकमात्र ऐसा कब्रिस्तान है जहां एक समुदाय(मुस्लिम) के लोगों की कब्रों को उखाड़कर दूसरे समुदाय(ईसाइयों) के लोगों के शवों को यहां पर दफनाया गया। ऑफिसियल रिकॉर्ड की मानें तो इस कब्रिस्तान को अंग्रेजों ने साल 1808 में बनवाया था। जो इसे 200 साल से भी पुराना कब्रिस्तान बनाता है, लेकिन बहुत से अनऑफिशियल एलिमेंटस का कहना यह है कि किसी समय में यह जगह मुस्लिम दफन मैदान हुआ करती थी। जिसका उपयोग दिल्ली के शाही शासक परिवारों के द्वारा किया जाता था। कहा जाता है अपना वर्चस्व दिखाने के लिए इसे अंग्रेजों ने भारतीय राजघरानों के हाथों से छीन लिया और इसे अपने लिए इस्तेमाल करना शुरू कर दिया। फिर हुआ कुछ यूं कि ब्रिटिश ने पुरानी कब्रों को तोड़ दिया और खोद दिया क्योंकि ब्रिटिश लोग भारतीय शाही घरानों के बगल में दफन नहीं होना चाहते थे.....

Kashmere gate situated on the yellow line is the nearest metro station to Lothian cemetery. The distance between the Lothian cemetery and Kashmere gate Metro Station is around 2 km. You can either go by local or battery run rickshaws or book a cab for more comfort.

Exploring Seacliff Beach in East Lothian, Scotland.
Last week I visited the stunning Seacliff Beach in East Lothian, which is one of my favourite beaches anywhere in Scotland. You don't need to head to the western Highlands of Scotland to find fabulous Scottish beaches and coastline!
It's been a few years since my last visit and it felt amazing to be back. Seacliff Beach is located about five miles east of North Berwick and also right next door to the very atmospheric Tantallon Castle. Combining the two makes a great day out. The views out to Bass Rock are fantastic and there's even a tiny little harbour hewn into the rock, which was created by the then laird, Andrew Laidley, in 1890 which is well worth a look.
Vehicular access to the beach starts at Auldhame Farm and is controlled a little further along by a barrier which costs three pounds (only takes coins), which is a small price to pay for keeping the beach and surrounding area well maintained and looked after. Although I had the beach to myself at times, the car park can get busy during the summer months, so I would tend to avoid bank holidays in the height of summer if you want peace and quiet.
I actually think the winter is one of the best times of the year to visit, especially if you get a beautiful blue sky day like I did. If you love old ruins, you might want to seek out Auldhame Castle and old Seacliff House which which was a top secret naval base during the war.
If you do visit Seacliff beach, please ensure you leave this very special place as you find it, taking all your litter home and leaving only footprints in the sand :-)

The Shale Trail, West Lothian’s newest walking / cycling / running route. Dunbar like you’ve never seen it before!
The bustling East Lothian towns of Dunbar and North Berwick are beautifully portrayed by the award-winning filmmaker Walid Salhab in this new seven minute aerial film ‘Out of East Lothian’.
Walid captured the stunning footage of the rugged East Lothian coastline with a drone - DJI inspire 1. With the ability to reach heights of 1000 metres and travel at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour, the drone is able to create unique views of the town and the landscape from the sea. East Lothian has a gentle colourful landscape. Very noticeably, Walid’s film captures the richness of the red rock around Dunbar’s coastline, as well as the lush greenery of the Winterfield Golf Course and the soft sunsets. The film also features the incredible expanse of Belhaven Bay located to the north of Dunbar and the coastal path around Winterfield Park.
Walid hopes that this beautiful footage helps to encapsulate the spirit of his favourite county, East Lothian, and that the wonderful music from the film ‘Out of Africa’ adds to the relaxing feel of the film.

तो आज मैं आप लोगों को लेकर आई हूं, दिल्ली के कश्मीरी गेट के पास मौजूद एक ऐसे कब्रिस्तान में जिसे दुनिया के सबसे प्रेतबाधित कब्रिस्तानों में से एक माना जाता है।यह कब्रिस्तान दिल्ली का सबसे चर्चित कब्रिस्तान है। यह दिल्ली का एकमात्र ऐसा कब्रिस्तान है जहां एक समुदाय(मुस्लिम) के लोगों की कब्रों को उखाड़कर दूसरे समुदाय(ईसाइयों) के लोगों के शवों को यहां पर दफनाया गया। ऑफिसियल रिकॉर्ड की मानें तो इस कब्रिस्तान को अंग्रेजों ने साल 1808 में बनवाया था। जो इसे 200 साल से भी पुराना कब्रिस्तान बनाता है, लेकिन बहुत से अनऑफिशियल एलिमेंटस का कहना यह है कि किसी समय में यह जगह मुस्लिम दफन मैदान हुआ करती थी। जिसका उपयोग दिल्ली के शाही शासक परिवारों के द्वारा किया जाता था। कहा जाता है अपना वर्चस्व दिखाने के लिए इसे अंग्रेजों ने भारतीय राजघरानों के हाथों से छीन लिया और इसे अपने लिए इस्तेमाल करना शुरू कर दिया। फिर हुआ कुछ यूं कि ब्रिटिश ने पुरानी कब्रों को तोड़ दिया और खोद दिया क्योंकि ब्रिटिश लोग भारतीय शाही घरानों के बगल में दफन नहीं होना चाहते थे.....

Exploring Seacliff Beach in East Lothian, Scotland.
Last week I visited the stunning Seacliff Beach in East Lothian, which is one of my favourite beaches anywhere in Scotland. You don't need to head to the western Highlands of Scotland to find fabulous Scottish beaches and coastline!
It's been a few years since my last visit and it felt amazing to be back. Seacliff Beach is located about five miles east of North Berwick and also right next door to the very atmospheric Tantallon Castle. Combining the two makes a great day out. The views out to Bass Rock are fantastic and there's even a tiny little harbour hewn into the rock, which was created by the then laird, Andrew Laidley, in 1890 which is well worth a look.
Vehicular access to the beach starts at Auldhame Farm and is controlled a little further along by a barrier which costs three pounds (only takes coins), which is a small price to pay for keeping the beach and surrounding area well maintained and looked after. Although I had the beach to myself at times, the car park can get busy during the summer months, so I would tend to avoid bank holidays in the height of summer if you want peace and quiet.
I actually think the winter is one of the best times of the year to visit, especially if you get a beautiful blue sky day like I did. If you love old ruins, you might want to seek out Auldhame Castle and old Seacliff House which which was a top secret naval base during the war.

"Heart of Lothian" is a song by British neo-progressive rock band Marillion. It is the fifth track on the 1985 concept album Misplaced Childhood. The song was released as the third single from Misplaced Childhood on 18 November 1985 in the UK, the Netherlands, West Germany, Canada (on Capitol Records), South Africa and Australia. "Heart of Lothian" became the third Top 30 UK single from Misplaced Childhood, peaking at number 29. The song also peaked at number 51 on the German singles chart.
The 7" and 12" formats of the single both featured a live version of "Chelsea Monday", originally a track from Marillion's debut 1983 album Script for a Jester's Tear as the b-side. This was recorded at the Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in Utrecht on 15 October 1985. The 12" also includes the extended album version of "Heart of Lothian" as well as the single edit. In the US, the song was first used as the b-side for "Kayleigh", the band's European hit single. In 1986, "Heart of Lothian" reappeared as a b-side to the US-only single release "Lady Nina", which had in turn appeared as a b-side on the European release of the lead single from Misplaced Childhood, "Kayleigh".
