Today's announcement that grants totalling £1.2 million have been awarded to 96 charities working across 125 London estates is remarkable for several reasons. First, it highlights the importance of the Evening Standard’s The Estate We’re In initiative which made all this happen. It began life last year on the Angell Town Estate in Brixton. Our reports about life there demonstrated the need for regeneration and the role that the local community could play in creating positive change.
